  1. Riley Pint the #4 overall draft pick in 2016 was just outrighted to the minors by Colorado. Corey Ray at #5 is already out of baseball. Nick Senzel at #2 is hanging on by a thread. Mickey Moniak #1 is close to a zero war player, Ian Anderson #3 is in the minor leagues with Atlanta. Brutal draft class. The best player in the first round has been Will Smith who was the 32nd pick
  2. The Dodgers have 3 players with OBP over .380 and a Slugging over .490. The Brewers have one such player and it’s looking like he will end up having missed the majority of the games this year with injuries. That’s the difference in their offenses.
  3. Elias Diaz was just placed on outright waivers by Colorado. Probably a good bench mark for Haase. If Diaz goes unclaimed, the Brewers wouldn’t risk much DFA’ing Haase to get more roster flexibility in September
  4. Nice. Wise guy. More specifically he was finally healthy and pitching well and the Pirates dropped him.
  5. Why did the Pirates drop Honeywell?
  6. You’re right! Season era under 5!
  7. If Montas can get through 5 innings and give up just the 3 runs, he delivered what the Brewers would have wanted
  8. No idea. He went in feet first though
  9. How does he not know where the ball is? He initially slid into 2nd base on a fly ball. Player not paying attention cost them a potential big inning
  10. Anthony Banda! Didn’t realize he was still in the league. Brewers traded him as part of deal to get Gerardo Parra
  11. O’Driscoll is perhaps the worst official scorer and E5 and FC on the ball Ortiz his and an E6 earlier
  12. Not really, it’s not like there were other players available for the same money they passed on to get Montas. when you’re only willing to trade crap, what do you think you’re gonna get?
  13. Junis has a 7.36 era for the Reds and Wiemer was called up and subsequently demoted. If anything it’s reallocating a bunch of spare parts that won’t amount to anything with either team.
  14. Right, but you have to hear what he’s saying. He has 2 veteran SP who have stayed healthy all year. He has no SPs averaging six innings a start. His star hitter and star reliever have missed most the season with injuries and the roster has been a MASH unit all season. It sounds like the description of a last place club, yet coming down the stretch they’ve got a healthy lead in their division.
  15. Hoskins brings nothing to the table but homers (which is why his WAR is close to 0) and even his homer total won’t even be amongst the league leaders there. His player option for ‘25 is 18 million dollars, no club is going to give him that or more on a one year free agent deal. With his play to date, I highly doubt any team would give him a multi-year guarantee. I think most likely, he exercises his player option and the Brewers work out another trade (like they did with JBJ) to dump his contract.
  16. I could be wrong but I thought Murphy said he’s going out on a rehab assignment later this week. 60 days from Paredes’ last appearance would make him eligible to return on about September 1st or 2nd which would also be a consistent timeline with a 14 day rehab assignment starting later this week.
  17. The Brewers didn’t lose because of Mitchell and Turang being at the top of the lineup. They lost because the Dodgers two best hitters (Betts and Ohtani) combined for 2 homers and 5 rbi. Brewers are a pitching and defense team, when they don’t pitch and/or play defense they usually lose.
  18. Right. Megill will need a spot, Perkins, Milner, maybe even Yelich, Zastryzny and Paredes
  19. Never under estimate the value of throwing strikes and keeping the ball in the ball park. Myers gave up 7 homers and ten walks in his first 26+ innings. In the 67+ innings since he’s allowed only 7 homers and 14 walks.
  20. I think you may be being a bit naïve here. The average ticket price for the Bucks at the Fiserv Forum is $130. The court side seats are all sold out and those cost into the thousands. Likewise the Packers don’t sell a ticket for less than $135, and they go for at least double or triple that on or even more on resale sites, where I assume it is not exclusively out of town purchasers. So yes, if product on the field is good, the evidence is already there that plenty of local customers are willing to spend premium dollars for sports entertainment. Of course with 81 games the Brewers will always need to have bargain seats, however like I said earlier if the Brewers can get 500 people to spend $300 each on a game, that generates more revenue than 2000 people who eat and drink their own stuff in the parking lot and buy a $45 ticket.
  21. The family area doesn’t surprise me, right now they’re giving that stuff away for free. But even if only 15% of users were willing to pay it’s still better than the zero they’re getting now. I don’t get the charging for admission to a ball park village, but I guess it would make sense in the context of restricting tailgating to certain lots ( mainly those the furthest away from the stadium and bathrooms) so it’s more convenient to simply eat and drink in the village before and after the game
  22. That’s what happens when A ball players are put in Top 100 lists. A new crop of draftees comes in and A ball players whose numbers dip in AA fall off the lists
  23. You expected something else? People who buy a $30 ticket and eat in the parking lot before the game are not as good of customers as corporate outings or special events with catered food and open bar, etc.
  24. Echoing a similar thought as others; Podsednik was the textbook definition of a journeyman outfielder who played for eight different teams across parts of 11 seasons. If Wiemer’s career trajectory is similar It would mean the Brewers made a pretty fair deal.
  25. The NFL and NHL have held games in unique venues for years. I know MLB did some games in Asia and at the Negro league park, has a game scheduled in Japan next year and now the race track, but I’d be all for more special venues where a game can be held makes things more interesting to watch, especially given the bland nature of 2/3 of the modern baseball stadiums
