  1. How can there be nobody on the waiver wire or a non-40 man player in another organization superior to Capra. The bar literally could not be set lower. Carla’s numbers are making Monasterio look like a slugger
  2. Brewers might find a way to lose to Sox
  3. The good news is Smith probably won’t pitch more than 5 innings. It’s the Brewers can keep it close till then. Good things happen when you get into the White Sox bullpen
  4. I don’t know about that, they’ve acquired some terrific players in trades you’re just not thinking of them. What I do thinks true is that until fairly recently the Brewers didn’t have a lot of desirable players heading to free agency where there was urgency to trade them away before losing them for nothing: Recent successes include: Corey Knebel (Gallardo) was an All Star for Milwaukee Hader, Adrian Houser (Gomez) played significant roles for the Brewers. Not to mention Domingo Santana and Brett Phillips Lewis Brinson (Lucroy) was flipped as part of the package for Yelich.
  5. The Cubs have played well in April for sure. But let’s not overlook that despite the calamitous defensive miscues and bullpen meltdowns, the Brewers head into a series against the 2nd worst team in baseball with a chance to finish April with a winning record.
  6. Devin Williams is soft, always had been. His “Dave” persona he had to use to psyche himself up to be aggressive for example. Talking to the press about the difficultly in focusing on his job after Hader got traded is another. Not a surprise at all he struggled under the bright lights of NYC, he seemingly couldn’t handle pressure of the playoffs either. It’s funny though, April isnt even over yet, and both sides are likely disappointed in the trade.
  7. The point is: Mitchell could have a lousy 100 games and his Career WAR would drop. It’s similar to having three best batting average in the league and not enough bats to qualify for the batting title.
  8. If WAR without context is your end all be all then sure. Since debuting in ‘22 Mitchell has played 144 total games. Spencer Torkelson has a lesser career WAR than Mitchell but has played in 200 more games since his debut in ‘22. Is a player “more productive” based solely on WAR or does availability factor into who’s more productive.
  9. I mean Capra has a sub .300 OPS! They have to DFA him, and if their organization doesn’t have a corner infielder who can put up better than a .300 OPS in the majors, then that’s on Matt Arnold and Co.
  10. Wow. Capra in the 9th? Jesus. Might as well sent up a pitcher to hit
  11. Year after year, why are the Brewwrs the worst team in MLB scoring runs from 3rd with less than 2 outs?
  12. RIP Bob Uecker. The bozos in the booth now are nearly unlistenable. from the best radio broadcast to the worst in a blink of an eye.
  13. The only real criticism of the Cubs is after Imanaga their rotation is ordinary and depth is thin. Do they have the horses in their system to be able to trade for different making starting picthers come July?
  14. Their VP of Baseball Operations, Jed Hoyer, has his job on the line. His contract ends after 2025 and has had forgettable results since taking over after Theo (and previously in San Diego). Counsell is likely safe no matter what due to the size of his contract, but it’s never a good thing when the GM who brought you in is let go and you’re still there. There isn’t a “decision” with Kyle Tucker he will test free agency and would be a fool not to in a climate where the elite young players are getting half billion dollar guarantees. So there’s pressure for them to make sure it was worth acquiring him. Yes.
  15. It’s still April but scoring 5 runs early and the pitching staff can’t hold it, isn’t a good sign.
  16. Doesn’t matter now. Leaky bullpen = crappy team
  17. After years of bullpen excellence it’s basically Koenig as the only reliable arm out there. Maybe Mears
  18. After these 2 games they will have played their entire slate of games for the season against the Dodgers
  19. Smith faced the Red Sox for second time and put out somewhat of a clunker: Went 4 2/3, 3 hits, hit 3 batters, walked one and gave up a 3 run homer.
  20. Who is reliable in this bullpen outside of Koenig?
  21. Just to play devil’s advocate with you. McMahon is owed nearly $50 million dollars between now and when his contract is up. How much of that would the Rockies have to eat to get into the Brewers’ price range? 20 million, 25 million. If they’re eating that much cash they would almost certainly expect a blue chip prospect in exchange. That is reason enough it would never happen. Plus he has significant home and away splits, where the road stays really aren’t an upgrade. So there’s no real reason for the Brewers to want to acquire McMahon
  22. Hader pitching in Colorado Springs in 2017 vs. Misiorowski’s career minor league numbers? Ok.
  23. In AAA! There isn’t a Kyle Tucker, Arenado, Bryan Reynolds, Freddie Freeman, et al. in AAA. Those type of batters won’t be fooled as easily as AAA batters and will punish mistakes more. Until Misiorowski can consistently command his stuff there’s no reason to even consider him. As for Dunn, the Brewers gave him two bites at the apple in the majors and he didn’t seize the opportunity. Since the did trade for him intuition says he will likely get another shot but he is likely the 40th man on the roster (maybe 38 or 39 depending on views of Thomas and Capra) so there is some urgency for him to go to AAA and perform.
  24. With Woodruff already on a 30 day rehab assignment; by Mother’s Day they should have Peralta, Quintana, Priester, Woodruff and Myers. I’d be more interested to see who goes to the pen or minors if/when Civale and Cortes are healthy
