  1. ERA + Montgomery 110, Mikolas 99, Flaherty 93. Gallegos 111, Hicks 105, Stratton 101, VerHagen 100. For contrast Freddy Peralta has an ERA+ of 93… cue the “But ERA+ isn’t accurate, doesn’t account for X,etc etc”
  2. I don’t think or believe Cardinals will turn it around. However, I do think it’s silly to completely close the door on the possibility of a team with Arenado, Goldschmidt, Gorman and Walker, plus an above average bullpen and 3 average starting pitchers making a comeback where their Division leader hovers around a game or two above .500 in the third week of June.
  3. Their team OPS is .690, there’s believing and then there’s blind faith.
  4. Seriously, this Division is trash. By Thursday the First place Brewers will likely be 1-2 games over .500. Given the above, they someone is willing to write the epitaph on any team in the Division in June is kind of silly.
  5. No, Braun, even after the roids. was in a different class as a hitter than Yelich is at this point. To assume they are close, I think is an example of how far the team’s offense has fallen off. Even after his salad days, Ryan Braun ‘13-‘20 put up a slash line of .278/.341/.493
  6. My point is: until one of the four teams ahead of them knocks them out; they’re still a hot streak away from being in the thick of it. The Brewers and Pirates have been playing losing baseball since mid-April, The Cubs can’t ever seem to get over .500, and the Reds nice young hitters are doomed by their pitching which allows more runs than anyone in the division. Don’t get me wrong the Cardinals have been bad, but the rest of the NL Central is letting them hang around and there’s a lot of talented hitters in St. Louis, and they have the prospect capital to greatly improve their roster via trade.
  7. Why? They’re a hot streak away from first place. Do you have that much confidence n the Reds, Pirates, Brewers and Cubs?
  8. Miley is listed as the probable starter Saturday night (June 17th). You could be right about Rea but then again seems like they’re going 6 man rotation
  9. The irony is, the justification for keeping this group together is getting less and less by the day. Sure, by rule somebody has to win the NL Central but that seems like a terrible justification for keeping this group together. This group has already been together a long time and have started going backwards: from being in game 7 of the NLCS, to missing the playoffs completely in ‘22, and could very well have a losing record before the weekend is over. Even if they get their injured pitchers back to full health, does that make them a heavy weight n their league amongst the Braves, Dodgers and Diamondbacks? If you’re a fringe contender then it’s not really worth the prospect capital to fortify the roster with rental players in July. To me, it’s become a directionless franchise: not talented enough to be more than an underdog contender, their trade-able assets get less valuable every day, and they have no blue chippers on the cusp of the majors to turn the tide more in their favor. .
  10. Sell, Sell, Sell! Take it down to the studs and bring on the next generation.
  11. What’s your definition of an Ace then? If you want to dump on a record of 25-9 with a 1.20 whip and a 4.5:1 K:BB ratio as not Ace material then I guess you live in a fantasyland and there’s no reason to talk about it further.
  12. Ha, Greinke, a Hall of Fame pitcher, wasn’t really an Ace? Ben Sheets wasn’t really an Ace? Even spotting you Gallardo, your argument already lost all its credibility. Nonetheless, it’s quite possible ‘20-‘21 were the career years for Corbin Burnes. Happens all the time a player has two incredible years and never reaches those heights again (Yelich). Fact of the matter is there are 20+ clubs that would take Burnes right now, put him at the top of the rotation, and be over the moon with his production so far.
  13. “Journey back to the land of Aces”? This is why the articles on this site are mostly garbage. Take a dose of perspective: Corbin Burnes is having one of the best seasons a Brewers starting pitcher ever had. Better than any that Yovanni Gallardo put up, on pace to be better than those Zack Greinke put up as a Brewer, and better than many of the seasons from Ben Sheets. Yet, people are dogging him for having a bad year. “Journey back to the land of Aces”…. Sheesh.
  14. It’s not really an issue of money, it’s the decision making in allocating that money. 65 million dollars or so goes to just 5 players: Yelich, Burnes, Woodruff, Adames and Winker. Of those x Adames has been bad at the plate, Winker has been bad period, Woodruff has been injured. Burnes is fine, and Yelich hits like a CFer but plays left. Next, another 11 million or so is going to deferments or salary for players no longer with the Brewers: Kolten Wong (salary and deferments), Braun, Cain, Voit, Hiura. Thats half the payroll, and all they have is Burnes and a mediocre Yelich as valuable contributors.
  15. I’m curious if you will be able to sell all 50 before getting a cease and desist letter for using the player’s image and likeness without authorization. It is probably not the best idea to advertise unlicensed MLBPA merchandise on a Brewers fan website where anyone family, Friends, agents, team employees can see it.
  16. Owen Miller has a .363 BABiP, last year it was .290 for him, in ‘21 it was .261. It’s been awhile since we’ve seen on in Milwaukee so it’s kind of hard to decipher, but I think we’re witnessing a back up on a hot streak, as opposed to some incredible player who slipped through the cracks in Cleveland (like Sogard in ‘17).
  17. He has 8 walks and in 12 innings, and isn’t even 2:1 in K:BB ratio. Let’s cool it a minute, before anointing him as one that got away.
  18. Sell, Sell, Sell! Get young and hungry, more exciting to watch lose than these stiffs.
  19. It’s more than that. It’s the raised expectations given their play from ‘18-‘21, and maybe denial, based on a big year or two from a player, that most of their regular hitters are nothing more than mediocre pros.
  20. Ask the guy whose head he ran over drunk driving without a license, wonder if he thinks he’s a decent person.
  21. 1. Burnes 2. Woodruff 3. Caratini 4. Adames 5. Anderson 6. Teheran 7. Tellez 8. Miley … oh wait, not which Brewer players would be on other teams’ shopping lists, you meant if the Brewers are buyers!! Hahaha… Would they trade really anything of value to add to this group? Like the year they added Scott Linebrink. I bet they mostly stand Pat if not sell.
  22. But it’s the old adage, with two strikes you better be swinging at anything close. Monasterio is a scrub (not a star), who got himself behind in the count. As such, he should know better that he’s getting rung up if he takes anything borderline.
  23. There’s a reason Singleton was in the minors for ten years, and when he was DFA’d in March nobody took him. Hahaha, A’s will likely be going for the sweep tomorrow. Can’t wait for July 31st to see what the new faces can do.
