  1. The problem is they’re not even competitive. When they lose it’s been 3-0, 10-1. At least the bad teams of the late 90s would lose 7-5 and were fun to watch
  2. Other way around, at this pace they’ll be taking it down to the studs on a rebuild
  3. That’s the great thing about analytics you can find a stat to argue anything you want, it ignores that they’ve ridden those pitchers hard too. Payamps hasn’t recently tossed more than 60 innings in a season, he’s at 23 already. Same deal with Peguero, unless they simply burn them out, eventually the Brewers will have to go more often to those relief pitchers with eras over 8 who’ve so far they’ve only called on to throw 30 innings.
  4. Where are them hot takes, dumping on the Cardinals now? 8-2 in their last 10, 3rd place and the Brewers already hear the foot steps coming up behind them Let’s face it, the ‘23 Brewers are just not good enough. Theres a lack of hitting talent and they were always going to rely on a wing and a prayer, and now the pitching staff where all the talent is has become a MASH unit, with arms being signed off the street and going right to the major leagues. Anything is possible, but I assume that July will bring radical changes to the roster.
  5. You were right, Phillies claimed him on waivers, way to have the finger on the pulse.
  6. It’s not a question of whether they’re competently run, I think the answer is yes. But clearly they don’t have the horses to hang with real contending clubs, and with the team control of their stars dwindling the writing has been on the wall for sometime.
  7. These guys aren’t dumb, with getting bounced in ‘21 and collapsing down the stretch in ‘22 they saw the writing on the wall. It’s likliest reason why Stearns already resigned and Counsell is on an expiring contract
  8. I mean Jesse Winker has his bags backed for a DFA, right? 3 XBH, can’t run, can’t play defense. They’d be better off rotating Tellez, Ruf, Yelich, Anderson, Miller etc through the DH slot than giving away automatic outs with Winker
  9. He’s already decided to leave after this year. Hence the new stories of him entering the season with a expiring contract and no extension talks
  10. Yup, bring on the sell off this July: Burnes, Woodruff, Anderson, Tellez and Adames. Reload for the future. This team that is last in the NL in doubles, triples, 2nd to last in hits, and 12th in OBP but 6th in homeruns is going nowhere. Break it up now while the return is the greatest
  11. There’s a reason he pitched in China.; Covey doesn’t have what it takes to play in the major leagues. His 6.50 Career ERA and K:BB ratio of 1.6:1 says that loud and clear.
  12. Tyrone Taylor is an indicative of what’s wrong with the Brewers. Text book definition of mediocre, yet due to poor overall quality and depth of their position players he’s penciled in the lineup nearly every day.
  13. One out double, four pitches later the sides is retired. They could at least try to make McLanahan work a little.
  14. Like Adrian Houser who had a flexor strain in July of ‘22; and Topa in ‘21. Don’t remember them having TJ surgery. oh well, can’t argue with someone who offers guesses as facts!
  15. Nobody has said Rasmussen is having TJ surgery yet, and Rasmussen has 3 years of control remaining. Adames may be an ex-Brewer as soon as July and for sure by next July.
  16. Check the stat line, he’s sub .700 so far this year, and has had a .300 OBP across his last 700+ PAs, think that’s magically going to change? He’s a shortstop who hits a few homers and doesn’t do much else with the bat. And who cares if he’s a great defensive shortstop they’re a dime a dozen; the difference between him and Turang defensively is likely negligible yet they bat Adames clean up every night believing he’s still the guy that came over in ‘21 on a hot streak.
  17. Versus a sub .700 OPS shortstop. Big deal
  18. I’ll say it…. 2021 notwithstanding, I would rather have Rasmussen than Adames
  19. That’s why the Cardinals are the favorites to win the Division every year
  20. It’s the Cardinals Division the Brewers are just keeping first place warm for them
  21. I know a lot of teams make a choice in the Rule 5 draft but it’s kind of dumb for teams with the intention to compete to make a choice. It usually winds up like Varland, guy with an intriguing arm/tool/etc. but not yet fully formed gets dumped because the roster spot is needed for bodies to help the big league club win. If they wanted to make the Rule 5 draft something to get more players on 40 man rosters (and dues paying members of the MLBPA) plus help the competitive balance, Allow the picks made my teams who missed the postseason be permanent regardless of 26 man roster status and allow a team to make as many selections as they have open 40 man roster spots for. Every year there are well regarded minor leaguers left unprotected in the Rule 5 draft because they’re too far from the major leagues to make it probable they stick all year. A good way to redistribute potential talent to those who need it most.
  22. Where are them hot takes about the Cardinals being toast. Pressure inning after pressure inning…
  23. He’s offered back to the Dodgers for $25,000. If they decline to take him, he’d remain with the Brewers organization. Not to add injury to insult, but the Brewers seemingly bungled their bullpen this year calling up guys who are 6th or 7th on the depth chart, meanwhile…
  24. The Brewers are a pitching and defense team who fooled people the first month, before injuries and ineffectiveness caught up with them. Their bullpen is leaky (30 relief innings so far have come from pitchers with ERAs of over 8) so they’re shuffling people through trying to find a few plugs.
  25. Sure they can. Make him the new long man out of the pen. They liked his arm enough to keep him initially; that hasn’t changed. Plus, they cut bait early on Phil Bickford, another young pitcher with an arm they liked, and he’s gone on to be a serviceable middle reliever.
