I think I hate the Cardinals more than the Cubs. The Cubs fans are just awful, but I don’t really mind the team as a whole. The Cardinals as an organization feel like they are holier than thou regardless of what Shildt wants to say. Maybe once Molina retires they won’t be such a classless group, but it looks like Shildt might pick up where TLR left off. A man who chucks his bat into the outfield on a walkoff hit absolutely can’t say crap about anyone else.

I think this is where Haines does deserve some of the blame. A hitting coach will have philosophies that they will have their guys fall into. Whether it’s never swinging at first pitch, always look first pitch fastball or take it, have guys load earlier, lowering their hands, whatever it may be. I haven’t been able to watch a ton of games this season so I’m no expert in pointing out anything that has changed, but a hitting coach does have a say in what a batter will do. Is it unfair to fire Haines in a season when he has an aging Braun, no Cain, and is stuck trotting out the likes of Sogard, Smoak, Peterson, and Arcia? Possibly. But with basically an entire team having their worst season of their career, does there need to be a fall guy? I think so. Hearing about firing Haines multiple times every day is tiring, but I do think there is merit to the idea. Whatever he is saying, preaching, trying to get guys to do, it just isn’t working. A playoff contending team should not be one of the worst offenses in the game. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Haines go and I do hope they go in another direction this offseason, but he certainly wasn’t handed an All-Star studded lineup.

How about we like, leave the playoff seeding alone? If anything, change the Wild Card Game into a three game series instead of one and done and make the first Wild Card Game start the day after Game 162. I know baseball players are used to the daily grind and I’ve heard people mention how it might throw them off to give them a couple days off, but take a look at how it was set up last year. The final game of the season was on September 29th. The Brewers had one off day before the Wild Card Game and the AL teams had 2 off days prior to their Wild Card Game. And THEN the Division Series finally started on October 3rd, after 3 full off days. You turn the Wild Card Game into a 3 game series. No off days after 162. You continue the grind since you are a Wild Card team while the Division winners get to wait. The other teams get to set their rotations and get healthy while waiting a few days for the short series to end. The Wild Card team with the better record gets the two possible home games. The team with the lower record gets the first game at home, while the next two are at the home of the Wild Card team with the better record, reducing travel. Both teams will at least get one home game then. Basing it off of last year, they could have squeezed in a 3 game series prior to the Division Series starting. Even if players don’t want the time off, they still got it anyway. Make the change and leave the rest of the postseason format alone.

Right there with you. Soon the 162 game season won’t really mean much because everybody will make the postseason at the conclusion of the regular season anyway. We are starting to get to that point in baseball. All they care about is increased playoff revenue. Everything always comes down to money and it’s pretty sad. It might work for a little while, but once (some) fans lose interest in the regular season and numbers are down, they will again continue to question why that is. This will be another reason as to why the numbers will continue to decrease.

I swear it’s been about 15 minutes of the game clock under 1 minute and I need to get ready for work and was hoping to watch til halftime. Wow is this frustrating. Nice pass from Rodgers there! I was hoping the Packers would get Justin Jefferson in the draft as I was thinking he was going to be a stud. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him have a coming out party today and get 100+ receiving yards to put his name on the map after the first week. He’s going to be a good one for a long time. Whether the Vikings utilize him properly early on is a different story in and of itself. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s their number 2 by season’s end and finishes the season with 1000+ yards. -
Looks like he’s basically only following people in his immediate family like his brothers, girlfriend, and dog with only one or two others total mixed in. I wouldn’t find it too concerning personally. I know he’s deleted his social media accounts in the past. He might just be distancing himself from basketball for a couple weeks before it starts up again. He does things a bit differently than most people.

I hope the Bucks go all out and bring in Bradley Beal. He is exactly what they need to win a Championship. He is due nearly $29 million next season and the Bucks will need to line up financially to make the trade. You start with Bledsoe and his $17 million. They will be able to flip him for a pick or two. Pick up Ilyasova’s contract for $7 million and trade him. Add Donte DiVincenzo and his $3 million to get the numbers close and as a solid player that the Wizards would love to add. Add the first round pick the Bucks got from the Pacers for the 2020 draft and one of their own whether it’s a 2021 or 2022 first round pick. Bucks Receive: Bradley Beal Wizards Receive: Eric Bledsoe Donte DiVincenzo Ersan Ilyasova 2 first round picks Giannis has the ball in his hands and can be the point guard/point forward and with George Hill on the roster, we will be fine.

The Bucks went with Bledsoe over Brogdon when they extended Bledsoe which was a bad idea. Plus Brogdon isn't even worth the contract he got but I would take Brogdon and that contract over Bledsoe and his contract. Completely agree with both of you. Giving Brogdon $20 million per season may have been a little bit of an overpay, but he’s a great third option on a contending team. Good defense, can create his own shot, quick enough to beat his man to the basket on the offensive end. He’s exactly what we need and him leaving shouldn’t of even been an option.

The key to a competitive Game 5 will be Eric Bledsoe. If Giannis is out, they will game plan to shut down Middleton and will assuredly back off of Bledsoe and bait him into chucking up 3’s. He will need to show up and score 25+ points on 50% shooting to give the Bucks a chance. If he struggles to hit 3’s like he did today (0-6), it will be tough to overcome.

Winning this game could go a long way in Giannis deciding to sign with Milwaukee in my opinion. It would be quite an inspiring performance to get the win with him out and hopefully give him the chance to come back for a Game 5.

I had a dream last night that the Bucks traded Middleton to make room for a different All-Star. Maybe that is something they can do to shake up the roster.

But... But first base is such an easy position to find competent bats I don’t like Smoak at all, but this move makes no sense. The only reason I could understand it is if they want someone else to pick him up so we don’t need to pay the buyout (I think?). Which would then be a valid reason to let him go. Not sure if that’s how it works or not though.
