  1. Looks like a pretty risky trade for the Marlins. Alfaro strikes out a TON, but does have legit power at the catching position. Stewart has a long way to go to make an impact at the MLB level. Sixto Sanchez is a nice get for the Marlins. Overall a decent trade, but I thought they could of done better.
  2. This is a huge get for the Bucks. I’m thinking Mirotic will be in when Lopez needs a breather. Looks like he will be taking minutes from Ilyasova and Wilson. This Bucks team just got even better without costing too much.
  3. Bucks trading Stanley Johnson and Jason Smith to the Pelicans for Nikola Mirotic.
  4. Adding it for 2020 makes a lot more sense than for 2019. We went through an entire offseason building a roster with guys that fit the team to operate without a DH. If Stearns knew the DH was coming, he could of signed someone like Michael Brantley and moved Braun to DH. Changing it now after the offseason is done and the rosters are mostly set would not sit well with front offices in my opinion. If the DH was implemented for 2019, then sign Moustakas right away knowing that he will give you quality at bats and be in the lineup everyday.
  5. I would of just held on to Thon if that was all they could get.
  6. Youre right about the system being the problem. Say too bad wont resolve this. Also its odd you see 30 teams operating the same way. How anyone assumes thats natural is beyond me. You cant get 30 owners to agree on anything but analytics....sure. So you think it’s impossible for 30 teams to all agree on something such as analytics for their baseball decisions, but totally possible and 100% accurate that all 30 teams are colluding with each other to avoid bidding up each other on players?
  7. Definitely fair points. They may choose to have a ton of cap space and take on bad contracts, but would they be fine with losing a ton of games for multiple years? We should find out the next couple days what route they plan on going. It’ll be interesting to see what they do. I could see them being open to signing Middleton because he is a good player that can help them contend once they add a couple other pieces around him. He could be a solid number 2 option on a good team or a great 3rd option on a contending team. Middleton could probably be a guy that averages around 25 points per game on a bad team if he’s “the guy”. He just isn’t that type of player in our system or with Giannis running the show. Middleton (to me) seems like a guy that needs the ball in his hands a lot. He makes some kick out threes, but a lot of his production is through him creating his own shots. Giannis needs the ball in his hands a lot, where Davis doesn’t need the ball a lot to be productive. I think those two would click right away with how they play. On another note, it would be nice to have another guy that rebounds well to help Giannis out down low. Davis attacks the boards on both ends of the floor and will get some easy baskets off of offensive boards. Plus, who wouldn’t want to watch Giannis and Davis on pick and rolls?
  8. He only costs $2.5 million and can be the backup at every position. He doesn’t walk a lot, but he is a solid player that has a little speed. I like Perez more than a lot of other people. His defensive versatility is attractive to a lot of teams. I would think we could fetch a couple intriguing prospects in A ball for Perez.
  9. I never said Middleton isn’t good. He’s a good player, but not worth something like 5/$200 million. That type of money shouldn’t be offered to a guy that was never an all-star until this season. I would argue that Brogdon, Lopez, and Bledsoe fit Bud’s system better than Middleton anyway. Davis on the other hand is a top 5 player in the world. He is one of the few that offering a large contract would make sense. The Pelicans would be acquiring an all-star and would have the money to give Middleton the money he wants. Bad teams and sometimes small market teams tend to throw money at “good” players to get them to their city. Middleton fits into that category in my opinion. On a championship team, he is not a number 1 guy, like Giannis and Davis are, but the Pelicans could pay him like one to sign him long term. Davis is in the elite category with the best in the league. He is a guy that is worth a max contract.
  10. Marwin Gonzalez is a great fit for us and could probably be had for a reasonable price. I don’t see him getting much more than $8 million per season for 3-4 years. Signing Gonzalez would also open the door on a possible Perez trade.
  11. I think it is HUGE that a superstar included Milwaukee as a preferred landing spot where he would sign an extension. The Bucks should and will be involved in trade discussions, but I agree that it would be tough for them to match up well in a trade. I know a lot of people don’t want to trade away impact guys on the roster right now, but remember that most of the guys mentioned are only under contract for this season. Acquiring Davis and signing him to an extension will lock him up for 4 or 5 years. We need to look beyond one season and build a roster that will compete for championships year in and year out. The Bucks should be interested in moving Middleton now since he wants a max contract. No way should he get that from Milwaukee. He would be an attractive piece for the Pelicans in a sign and trade to lock him up long term. They could build their roster around Middleton. Thon also is looking to get playing time somewhere else. And the Pelicans can offer him a starting spot right away and let him grow as a player. Maker still has a very high ceiling and needs his minutes to continue developing. I could see the Pelicans valuing Maker above anyone else the Lakers offered. The Pelicans would also be acquiring an all-star to replace Davis. I know there would need to be more involved, but it keeps most of the core together for a playoff run this year. We can look at retaining Brogdon, Bledsoe, and Lopez in the offseason. Getting Davis and locking him up long-term would be huge for Milwaukee. If you can get a top 5 player in the league when he actually WANTS to play there, you need to get it done (obviously within reason). More players will want to come to Milwaukee if Davis paired up with Giannis.
  12. I don't know if I agree on this part....just far, far too many unknowns at this time, but I like the direction we're moving and feel like Stearns is going to keep that window open year in and year out. But I'll just say across the board, I don't see any reason to extend ALMOST any reliever with whom we have multiple years of control left. Look at how many guys we've had who've dominanted and then struggled BADLY shortly after. Axford, Kolb(to a lesser degree, but he had a good year), Turnbow. There seem to be about 40 relievers in baseball each year who were great the year before who become terrible and 40 who go the other way. That's a bit of hyperbole, but still. It's just too volatile a job and we have him through him prime for 3 more years. That's perfect. Why take on ALL the risk ourselves? This is exactly why I think we should look to trade Knebel. Relievers are so volatile and teams are more than willing to give up prospects for relievers that have dominant years. There will be a bullpen piece this year that will surprise us and have a great season that teams will be interested in paying a premium for next offseason. Three years of Knebel could really help replenish the farm. Those prospects could then be packaged in a big trade for a guy like Kluber or used midseason for an upgrade. I think we could move Knebel and have another guy step up and have a productive season in his place, allowing us to use resources to solidify a different area of need such as getting a top of the rotation arm.
  13. I don’t view it as collusion. Front offices are wising up to handing out ridiculous contracts to players that are in their 30’s. It’s also frustrating listening to people talk about how Machado and Harper aren’t signed and that there should be way more teams involved than just a handful. Small market teams aren’t going to commit $25-$30 million on one guy very often, if ever. Also, those two have turned down $475 million combined as it sits right now. I don’t feel a single bit bad for those two that turned down almost half a billion dollars. Relievers are getting paid more now than ever before. Teams find it more worth their while to sign multiple solid players to $8-$10 million deals than one guy for $30 million. Is it better for the Brewers to fill 3 holes by signing a solid platoon guy to share time at second, sign a top 3 catcher in the game, and do something like sign Marwin Gonzalez for around $30 million for this season for those 3 or to sign Harper himself for $30 million? I think they could work something out where the minimum for players is bumped to like $1 million and they get 4 years of arbitration. I truly don’t think it is collusion among all the teams talking together about who they want and having other teams avoid that player to not drive the price up. Money is just being spent more wisely on what the expected future production for that player is going to be without locking themselves into a huge contract on a player through his late 30’s or into their 40’s.
  14. I don’t see us being a player for any free agent pitchers unless it is on a minor league deal. Nelson Chacin Burnes Davies Anderson I think Woodruff will stay in the bullpen where he had great success last season and can spot start if needed. Guerra can spot start if needed as well. Peralta should start in AAA and slide into the rotation if Nelson isn’t ready by opening day or when an injury arises.
  15. Shaw will be 29 this season and is still under contract for three years. I could see buying out one year of free agency if he is interested in doing so. I don’t think locking him into a 6 year deal including this season that runs through his age 34 season is something we should do.
  16. I’m by no means a Harper fan at all, but if you’re telling me you can’t find room for him on your team when you’ve finished below .500 8 seasons in a row, then I’m not sure what to tell you. They have a couple promising looking young guys, but they won’t all pan out. They could trade a couple outfielders or option one and keep him as depth incase of an inevitable injury. In my opinion, it would be pretty easy to sort out.
  17. Blake Snell anyone?
  18. I went out to start my car about halfway through my shift and it barely started after only being off for about four and a half hours (around 7 pm). Luckily I have a garage at home, but a lot of people are going to have issues in the morning if they need to leave their vehicle outside. Tomorrow and tomorrow night are going to be a real treat... Stay safe everyone.
  19. Sorry I’m late to the party... But why does it bother you?
  20. On top of Oakland trading away their Competitive Balance Round A selection for Profar, they also moved a bullpen piece that they had 5 years of control of (Emilio Pagan), prospect Eli White who hit very well in AA last season, and $750,000 in International Bonus Allotments.
  21. Thon would be a perfect peice to include in a trade since he has asked for a trade and that he still has great untapped potential. Khris Middleton is a good option to look at trading. He seems to be looking for a max deal this offseason and I don’t think he is worth something like $35 million per year. Anthony Davis on the other hand is worth that. He’s still under contract through next season and we would be able to offer him a lot more than other teams could if he goes the free agency route. Who knows, he could sign a contract extension quickly if he likes it here. Middleton can get the max contract he is looking for from the Pelicans since Davis’ contract would be off their books. Looks like the 2020 first round pick is going to the Suns and the 2022 first round pick is going to the Cavs. Bucks Receive: Anthony Davis Pelicans Receive: Thon Maker Khris Middleton First round pick in 2024 Doing a sign and trade with Middleton would be an option that could potentially lower the Pelicans’ return. Maybe we could keep the first round pick if that were to happen.
  22. Braun struck out in only .5% more of his at bats last season than his career average. He’s still a great hitter, he just smoked the ball right at guys last season.
  23. Watch, Braun will have an MVP season in 2019 by hitting .300 with 35-40 bombs
  24. And the only Brewer in the Top 100. I found it interesting that the Marlins don't have one player ranked in the Top 100 from their trades of Yelich, Stanton, and Ozuna. I thought Ray could of been in the 75-100 area, but I didn’t think anyone else would crack the top 100. Some of the prospects have some promise and a couple had solid seasons, but for what they gave up, they need multiple guys to make an impact at the MLB level. Realmuto is all they have left to help replenish their minors with high end talent. Not a good place to be with a poor MLB product and a poor farm system.
  25. Hiura is ranked 20th by MLB.com.
