  1. Iglesias was one of the guys I was thinking the Brewers should target for second base (prior to Moose signing) and for insurance if Arcia struggles again. He’s only getting $2.5 million this season and would of been a great cheap option to hit .250 and avoid having any black hole in the lineup all season. Arcia will probably get his chance the first 6-8 weeks of the season, but something will need to happen if this continues.
  2. That may happen. I think they signed Moose as a way to delay the calls for Hiura, but if he starts hot in San Antonio, and the 1B combo of Aguilar/Thames scuffles, we could theoretically see Shaw shifted to 1B and Moose shifted back to 3B, which would open a spot for Hiura. Moose doesn't exactly have an injury-free history as well, so that would be something to watch should be get nicked up. It will be interesting to see how they proceed with Lowrie once he's playing in games. Looking at how the pieces are going to fit together that far into the future is tough. Absolutely. Moose could see a ton of time at first or third this season. If Shaw gets hurt, Aguilar and Thames don’t produce, the Brewers have the pieces to shift guys around. Shaw or Moose could take over at first, allowing the other to play third and opening up second for Hiura. There will be injuries during the season that will make us all glad we retained all the guys we did to consistently field a deep lineup. It might be a little awkward with Moose at second, but I don’t think Aguilar and Thames will have a long leash since they both have been inconsistent and fairly unproductive the last 80 games they’ve played or so.
  3. 9 K’s through 3 innings for Burnes. Is this some kind of record for a first career start having the first 9 outs being via the strikeout?
  4. Yelich has the most pure swing I’ve ever seen. The ball just flies off his bat even though he’s fairly slim. I found it interesting how Yelich reminds me a little bit of Ken Griffey Jr. with his size, swing, and the way the ball jumps off his bat. Sure enough, they were both 6’3 and 195 pounds. Quite a lofty comparison, but Yelich is the real deal. Those two guys are pretty similar to me. Hopefully Yelich has a few seasons similar to Griffey Jr.’s when he was healthy. If he does, we will be in for a real treat the next few seasons.
  5. Glad to see Perez in at SS today. Excited to see how Burnes looks in his first big league start! Hopefully he can get a quick 1-2-3 first inning to help him settle in and get rid of the first inning butterflies.
  6. I think the point is that having one more starter gives flexibility to either use one of the starters as a way to bolster the bullpen, or insurance against ineffectiveness should one of them prove unready. That's the reason I'd support signing him. But we can’t afford him. Enough with the condescending remarks in multiple threads. It’s a discussion board where we discuss ideas in a civil manner. Stop trying to throw your agenda all over this board and trying to bait people into arguments on here with nonfactual and extreme “hot takes”.
  7. I wonder if Keuchel could be had on something like a 1/$10 million contract. He might not like it, but it’s better than sitting at home and not getting anything. It would allow the Brewers to move someone like Woodruff to the bullpen to solidify the back of the bullpen.
  8. This man deserves his own thread to discuss just how unreal he is. Since the All-Star break last season, Yelich is hitting .368 with 28 homeruns and 72 RBI in 68 games. He also carries an OBP of .457 in that span. As this otherworldly “hot stretch” is becoming the new norm for Yelich, can he realistically hit .350 with 50 homeruns and drive in 140 runs in a season? As crazy as it seems, Yelich makes it look more and more realistic everyday.
  9. I’m not sure if he did, but he DID give up homeruns on back to back pitches to Yelich and Braun last year in our second home game of the season!
  10. This. +1. Agreed. *Ducks*
  11. Why have replay when you can look at it and still get it wrong? Embarrassing.
  12. Yelich is in pace for a new MLB record of 486 RBI this season! I don’t expect him to maintain that pace all season, but 400 is definitely within reach! Keep it goin’ Christian!
  13. I don’t think a like or dislike feature would help with that much, but I agree with the rest. Nobody wants to read a page when half of it is one guy stating the same thing over and over and posting multiple times in a row. It would be nice to read threads and have productive conversations instead of having one person take over the entire thread.
  14. He has a ton of talent. I couldn’t believe they got rid of him to sign Frazier. He’s going to be a good player in the NBA.
  15. I don't follow the transfers that closely after they leave. Could you refresh my memory? The 4 guys that have left the program in the last 3 years are Jordan Hill, Andy Van Vliet, Alex Illikainen, and now Tai Strickland.
  16. I could see a reunion between the Brewers and Jennings happening. Barnes has a minor league option remaining and could be sent down. He could be the first guy brought up when needed.
  17. Gard has now had 4 players transfer from Wisconsin the last 3 years... Seems like quite a high volume of transfers. I wonder if there really is something going on behind the scenes and players just don’t want to play for him.
  18. Just for discussion purposes, do you see Aguilar being replaced by an in house option like Thames, Shaw, or Moose? Or do you see them targeting outside help at the deadline?
