  1. Sure. A bunch of rational baseball fans are wrong. You are right. Carry on. That was also a completely mature way to react on being called out on a hot take, too.
  2. I see the prince of Brewerfan.net hot takes is at it again I, as a Brewer fan am NOT happy with only making the playoffs, you are, I read your posts all the time and you're giddyness at how things are with just making the playoffs etc etc. It's your choice to feel that way it's also your choice to be satisfied and downright happy with the season they just had(you 100% are). I won't begrudge you that, you do you man, but some of us aren't satisfied with the way it's been the last 4 years and want more, and think it's long past time to have more with the pitching they have. As you saw above, I was far from the only one who found your take completely laughable. Perhaps that should tell you something.
  3. LOL tell us you are a casual NFL fan without telling us. Flowers played so poorly in 2020 that he was replaced by ... Dunbar.
  4. Call it a hunch, but I wouldn't be surprised if Josh Hader wasn't a Brewer in 2022.

  6. Well, this team won 95 games, and it would be nearly impossible for Yelich, Hiura and JBJ to look any worse. Those guys show improvement next year, and look out!
  7. Keep on throwing that spaghetti against the wall. It hasn't stuck the first 1,000 times you did it. It ain't gonna stick now. The Brewers are a small market team, They aren't going to suddenly spend $200 million on player payroll. It just isn't going to happen. You need to understand that at some point.
  8. Tellez is responsible for the team's only runs in the series, and hit a bomb off the guy starting today for the Braves. Suggesting he shouldn't be in the lineup today is definitely a choice.
  9. Adam McCalvy @AdamMcCalvy · 1m Counsell said Corbin Burnes came to coaches after Game 1 and said he was interested in starting a potential Game 4 on short rest. They decided to see how he felt in the ensuing days and make a call if it came to that. In the end, Counsell said, Burnes’ body is not ready to do it. I mean, this should end the argument, right?
  10. Just saw this McCalvy tweet: Adam McCalvy @AdamMcCalvy Just food for thought as you debate the Brewers' decision to start Eric Lauer in a must-win game today over bringing back Corbin Burnes: In the Wild Card era (1995-present), starters on short rest in the postseason are 30-45 with a 4.58 ERA, averaging 5.1 innings. So ... logic says they are making the correct call.
  11. Lineup just submitted: 1. Wong - 2B 2. Adames - SS 3. Yelich - LF 4. Garcia - RF 5. Tellez - 1B 6. Urias - 3B 7. Narvaez - C 8. Cain - CF 9. Lauer - P A little surprised they are switching things up a bit, or getting Taylor or Peterson in the lineup. But whatever. Dance with the one that brought you.
  12. I disagree. It's stupid on the Braves' part. In his career he's been terrible against left-handed pitching. Better this year, but a small sample.
  13. I won a game this week 154.10 to 153.68 thanks to Mark Andrews and his 36.20 points last night. I had totally written off the game as a loss, and didn't even pay attention to last night's game. In fact, I dozed off on the couch, and flipped it on to see the game was in OT, and Andrews had just caught a pass while the announcer said he was only adding to his career night. Opened the app on my phone, and sure enough. I had a 1% chance of victory coming into last night's game.
  14. I would love to see everyone weigh in now on this before the game so we don't have to hear the inevitable second guessing after the fact. I'll go ahead and make my argument for starting Lauer and holding back Burnes... I back Counsell 100% on this decision. Lauer is the one pitcher on the roster not named Gustave who the Braves haven't gotten a look at already this series. They also have the 2nd fewest hits in the majors against lefties. You can't win this series without winning games 4 AND 5 so why decrease your chances in game 5 by spending Burnes in game 4 on short rest. Especially when Burnes has been deployed on on LONG rest (more than 4 days) for most of the season. The Braves have some damn good pitching themselves. Their decision to go the short rest route and exposing their pitchers to multiple looks by Brewers batters might be the one chance to start tilting the odds back in the Brewers favor. The Brewers are potentially 9 hours away from turning 3% odds into 50%+ odds. Burning Burnes today likely wouldn't make the Brewers the favorite in game 5 as I do not like the Woodruff vs Fried matchup at all with both on 4 days rest. But I definitely like Burnes on 5 days rest vs Fried on 4. How do others want to weigh in before the benefit of hindsight? Let's hear it. I really have nothing to add here other than "ditto". Nice work logically summing up the decision.
  15. Not seeing this as I look at his post season game logs. He's had a few bad post season outings. Most notably, 2017 ALCS game 3 and 2020 WS game 3, but neither of these appeared to be on short rest. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.fcgi?id=mortoch02&t=p&year=0&post=1 You are correct. I thought I had read somewhere that he was poor on short rest, but that obviously is wrong. That said, the general track record of starters going on short rest in the postseason is a mixed bag.
  16. Sorry, but I get annoyed with these kinds of posts which basically are telling people how to be fans. This isn't a 70-win team. It's a team that could have won 100 games if they chose to. Most of us know the Brewers chances to win a title or at least MAKE a World Series are fleeting. Because we're upset with a potential lost opportunity doesn't mean we can't ALSO have fun watching Carlos Gomez on a 70-win team. Expectations are a factor and everything is relative. This is (nearly) our 3rd 90 win season in 4 years. Expectations are higher, so I won't apologize for being really disappointed IF they go out in 4 games in the NLDS scoring 2-3 runs in 4 games. They were a better team than that, luck is involved and they will have had a bad luck week at the wrong time. I don't think this is such an extreme concept. Nobody was really upset when Philly stomped us in '08, but they will be now. It's a completely different set of circumstances, and a perfectly healthy reaction once you've achieved some success and want to hit the next rung on the ladder. I think he was reacting more to the posters who said this team wouldn't be memorable, or would be a "fart in the wind". You are 100% correct in saying that you can be disappointed and upset at a lost opportunity. The point is the old cliche that the "journey is its own reward." Personally, this is been a fun season to follow the Brewers. Regardless of what happens in this series, this is a very good ballclub.
  17. Brewers announce Lauer gets the ball today. Braves going with Morton on short rest. Morton doesn't have a great track record going on short rest in the playoffs. But if he pitches well tonight, and Lauer struggles, the "should've started Burnes" chants are going to get loud. Lots of very interesting subplots in tonight's game.
  18. I agree with every word of this. The Brewers have managed to put together a starting rotation that most every other MLB team would drool over. They've followed their pitching plan all season, and it has been incredibly successful. They aren't going to deviate from that plan and start pitching guys on short rest when they haven't even considered doing that all year. You give Lauer the start this afternoon, with the expectation that he pitches like the high-end starting pitcher he's looked like since June.
  19. If that was the issue here, Gruden would still have a job this morning. It's the racist, sexist, homophobic and transophobic crap that get him fired. Maybe I'm naive, but no, I do not believe that good people use that sort of vernacular.
  20. Unpopular Opinion: I actually really like that movie. Me too. I'm kind of a sucker for sappy movies, though.
  21. “You get the feeling that Billy Chapel isn’t pitching against left-handers, he isn’t pitching against pinch hitters, he isn’t pitching against the Yankees. He’s pitching against time. He’s pitching against the future, against age, and even when you think about his career, against ending. And tonight I think he might be able to use that aching old arm one more time to push the sun back up in the sky and give us one more day of summer.” - Vin Scully, For Love of the Game I can't help but think of this quote today. This has been a terrific season to follow Brewers baseball. This team has had quite a bit of magic in it. I just don't want it to end tonight.
  22. No. Normal, upstanding people don't communicate the things that Gruden did.
  23. Brewers will clinch the NLDS at home!
  24. Counsell just said it won't be Burnes tomorrow. Which is the right call.
