  1. Pretty sure that I saw that the initial plan was to have his start at least with the AZ team. May play for one of the higher affiliates later in the summer.
  2. Great for Holt, but he's a 23-year-old pretty high college draftee (7th round) in Low A ball. He should be playing well at that level. The test is going to be when he starts climbing through the system.
  3. Rhetorical question ... but is the difference in pitching at AAA compared to MLB really that drastic? I know its a wide gulf, but Keston's performance is making it look like the Grand Canyon.
  4. He puts the bat on the ball. That's a nice change. Apparently he hasn't been here long enough yet to watch the "Andy Haines Launch Angle Revolution" video.
  5. I would have preferred they try to get another inning out of Houser. Middle relief hasn't exactly been shut-down lately.
  6. Would be nice to hopefully get a little more context soon. Glad it isn't serious, but a 60-day IL stint isn't good for the development of a player drafted out of college and getting his first taste of pro ball.
  7. He'd have to do a restructure immediately for it to be feasible. He'd have a $15m cap number for 2021, and the Packers aren't even in the ballpark of having the space for that. They would be if they signed Adams to an extension, and Rodgers restructured. 2022 would be a nightmare, though.
  8. Jace Peterson's replacement, with a still intact option.
  9. Milwaukee Brewers @Brewers INF Jake Hager has been claimed off waivers from the Mets and assigned to Triple-A Nashville. Second tour of duty for Hager in the Brewers system. Was a little surprised he never got a call-up last time around in 2018, as he had a good year in AAA. Effectively takes Jace Peterson's spot.
  10. NFL players also tend for forget those huge signing bonuses shortly after they collect them. Rodgers was actually only paid 7.29 million last year in salary and new bonus money. That could also be one of his complaints (completely forgetting about the 57 million he was paid when he signed the deal). But in 2021 his pay is no longer 7.29 million. It goes up to 22 million. If Rodgers becomes a good soldier again when training camp starts, which he very likely will, it will have a lot to do with that 22 million rather than his legacy as a Packer. I mean, I get it. Money talks. It always has. But according to Sportrac, Rodgers has made nearly $241 million so far in his 16-year career. He's engaged to a multimillionaire actress. He has several national endorsement deals that pay him more untold millions. If Aaron Rodgers cares more about earning more money than Mahomes than he does about winning and his legacy as an NFL football player at this point in his career, he's doing it wrong.
  11. I think Rodgers will eventually back down and become a good soldier again once training camp rolls around. He is a player who cares very much about his legacy as a Packer, and very much for the fanbase that has cheered him on for 15 years. If his goal was to try to make a point that he feels disrespected that the Packers put a contingency plan in place to move on from him, mission accomplished. The vast majority of fans want him back very much. But it has gotten to the point where most fans also want this to go away. If this drags into training camp, and there is still mystery surrounding Rodgers true intentions and what truly upset him, the fanbase will eventually turn on him. But if he shows up in July ready to work, and basically says "bygones are what they are, but I'm a Packer, and I'm here to win a Super Bowl", fans will quickly forget the diva behavior.
  12. My guess would be that they discovered something with Sobotka they think can be corrected to increase his effectiveness, and he's hanging out at the pitching lab in Arizona right now. And with the success they've had with other pitchers there, that's is OK with me.
  13. 2B Wong CF Cain LF Taylor RF García 1B Hiura SS Adames C Piña 3B Urías P Woodruff I get that Yelich is going to need to be eased back in, but kind of a bummer that he's out of the lineup after hitting one 450 feet yesterday. Makes some sense against a tough lefty that they'd load up on righty hitters, though.
  14. Milwaukee Brewers @Brewers · 4m INF Keston Hiura recalled from Triple-A Nashville. RHP Alec Bettinger optioned to Triple-A Nashville. INF/OF Jace Peterson reinstated from the 10-day injured list and designated for assignment. I'd be surprised if this is the last we see of Jace Peterson this year. Just isn't any room for him with Urias moving to a utility role, and Robertson back. I expect him to clear waivers and stay in Nashville, and he'll likely be an injury replacement again at some point down the road.
  15. Not sure if a week and a half of games is going to make all that much difference, but the numbers he was putting up in Nashville were certainly a night-and-day difference from what he's done so far this year in MLB, aside from a similarly high K rate. It will be interesting to see if his approach at the plate is any different.
  16. Bummer that Freddy couldn't get through 5. Kinda got "Bad Freddy" today, but he has improved to the point where he was able to limit the damage despite having little command today. The Peralta of last year or the year before would have given up at least 4-5 runs today.
  17. Somewhat misleading because he's hit into a couple pretty hard outs. First AB today had 115mph exit velocity and xBA of .850...out. The strikeouts aren't encouraging but he also missed a month straight. I would say I'm about a 2 out of 10 on the concerned meter right now. I mean, the guy came back and played one game after his first IL stint, and had two hits before immediately going back on the IL. He's gonna hit. It's the power that I hope comes back.
  18. Command is poor today. Fortunately for him, his stuff is good enough to keep things in check so far.
  19. I don't know why they don't just give Winker a free pass every time up at this point. Good Lord! I mean, he's a decent player, but he's not Barry Bonds. Whoever the advance scout is needs to put together a different file on him.
  20. I'm not absolving Haines from any blame. But at the same time, I believe that saying that getting rid of him and Cruz is the "key" is kind of a fallacy as well. Perhaps a new voice is needed, but nothing is going to change unless a good portion of this lineup decides to change their approach.
  21. Nah, the actual key is hitters on this team performing how they are capable of performing. If it takes a coaching staff shakeup, fine, whatever, but let's not act like firing Haines and Cruz is going to suddenly wake this offense up. The improvement is going to have to come from several players in this lineup getting hot. Yelich needs to find his 2018-19 self, and Hiura has to be able to hit fastballs. Haines and Cruz's continued employment being terminated is low-hanging fruit that may appease a few fans in the short term, but isn't going to mean much of anything in the whole scheme of the season.
