  1. And despite his struggles, Shaw still leads this team in RBIs and HRs.
  2. I think this is spot on. This is a case where the Brewers determined that the odds of Knebel finding his 2017 form again were long enough to make it not worth the risk. That isn't necessarily "cost cutting", although I suppose if you squint hard enough, you can see a correlation between the two ideas.
  3. He's a parody account. Not to be taken seriously.
  4. It will be interesting to see what happens here. Logic would dictate that they'd want Garcia in the lineup against a tough lefty. If he doesn't start today, I would be 100% sure it's as a punishment.
  5. But you said it isn't true that he was incredibly streaky in 2017-18. That's where you are incorrect. He also put up a pretty terrible .698 OPS in August of his breakout 2017 season. He's always been a streaky hitter, prone to extended slumps. If he doesn't have that .OPS up above .700 by the end of May, then we have an issue. I think most players have "slumps" like that over a month. Shaw's slump is now going over three years. Shaw was ok last year. He was atrocious in 2019. All I'm saying is that we might want to get past April before we definitively say he's done.
  6. Are you saying this board over reacts to small samples on a regular basis. I just don't believe it. Fan is short for fanatic I suppose.

  8. In any case, I'm not about to go after Shaw, who should have had tempered expectations to begin with, when Keston Hiura exists.
  9. He was an incredibly streaky hitter even at his peak in 2017-18. Nothing about how he has performed so far is surprising. The key to his success is limiting the cold streaks.
  10. I forgot they signed Godley. He's another solid bet. I imagine Zimmermann will be added to he 40-man a some point in the not-too-distant future. He's a cool story, and being a UWSP grad myself, I think it's pretty neat, but I'm not sure if he's got anything left in the tank.
  11. I will be much more concerned if that's the case at the end of August. It's still a little concerning now. They have numerous guys that pretty clearly aren't better options than your last guy in the pen. If Devin gets legitimately back that will help a great deal. I haven't really seen Perdomo pitch and I am eternally skeptical of guys with zero MLB track record but it's been so far so good for him. I hope he can be a legitimate option. That's kind of different argument, though. Sure, it is completely fair to be concerned about the holes in the back of the pen. Most MLB teams are likely dealing with something similar. But I'm not concerned at all about where the pen ranks statistically on April 23, when a poor game such as today's can drastically skew any sort of rankings. I mean, the pen was coming off a series against the Padres where they gave up zilch. It's simply too small of a sample to take any rankings seriously. This unfortunately applied to the Brewers' stellar starting pitching numbers as well.
  12. In young guns defense, the wheels hadn't quite come flying off the Lindblom bus at the moment he posted that. I would imagine today's result may have changed some things, but at the beginning of play today, Lindblom was the logical "next man up" in the rotation.
  13. Everything the Brewers are hitting today seemingly gets a few steps from the warning track. But no matter how ugly this one looks in the end, it's only one game. Go get 'em tomorrow Freddy!
  14. If the Brewers' bats do their typical vanishing act against Hendricks, over the next couple of innings I'm really hoping multiple position players toe the bump so they don't burn their pen out....they don't have an off day on the calendar for the next 2.5 weeks. Wouldn't surprise me to see Lauer, Bickford, Sobotka and Weigel all up at some point over the next couple weeks. Maybe even Zimmermann too. Gonna see a lot of different arms going back and forth.
  15. This did not age well. Well, Lindblom is doing everything he can to keep it accurate.
