  1. Oh man, don’t say that. Was really looking forward to having Cain back but I guess this is a possibility we have to accept. Agreed. I love Cain. The energy and attitude he brings to this team is unmatched. But JBJ is an excellent MLB CF, so unless they are moving on from Garcia, this makes little sense.
  2. Typically these "in the mix" reports don't come out unless the Brewers are dead serious. I guess Bradley is the best bat left on the market, and would probably be the best 4th OFer in MLB. But this also makes me think that perhaps something is going on with Cain either being traded or opting out/retiring.
  3. He'd make a hell of a 4th OFer .... or????
  4. From what I've seen, these are the "best" 5 remaining pen arms still available (other than Greene): David Robertson (if he's recovered) Roberto Osuna (gross) Jesse Chavez Tyler Clippard Darren O'Day Pickings are getting pretty slim. I think the Brewers are more than likely to roll with what they have at this point.
  5. I'm wondering why a guy like Greene isn't signed yet? Must be something with him.
  6. This. I have a chronic condition with treatments that affects my immune system. I live in rural community and work from home so the only information I've been able to find is "wait for general public availability". It's frustrating that I avoid visiting family and friends because that is safe but watch people congregate in large numbers in the cities and hear about coworkers taking out of state trips. Call your county health department, and get on the list of every health care provider and pharmacy that is offering shots. Then answer your phone, even if it is a number you don't recognize. You'll get an appointment.
  7. Now nothing on PC works, but I can access it on Chrome on my phone. Really odd!
  8. I use Chrome on my phone too, so it doesn't work there. I assume it is some type of update that doesn't jive, but still sucks for those of us Mac users that hate Safari and don't want to screw around with Firefox.
  9. For some reason the site works fine for me using Safari, but when I try to access it in Chrome, I get a "Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server. Server unable to read htaccess file, denying access to be safe" Just starting happening today.
  10. My wife and I are both teachers. She got her 2nd shot last week, I'm still waiting for my 1st... My district says after March 1st. My wife had a headache for 2 days after her 1st shot, and only a sore arm after her 2nd. (Phizer) Hope you can get yours very soon, Turbo. My biggest fear is that vaccine skepticism is going to cause a major delay in things returning to normal. In northern Wisconsin there are a lot of people it seems that don't trust the vaccine, or science for that matter. That in part may be why my wife and I were able to get in as early as we did - less competition. I have a chronic medical condition, and she is a teacher, but I don't know if we technically should have been up quite yet. I certainly wasn't going to say no when the clinic called to schedule us, though. I would definitely advocate that everyone get it when they can, though. Stubbornness only means that you are prolonging your chance of getting severely ill, and prolonging restrictions being lifted. I have a little skin sensitivity now that I didn't have earlier this morning. Nothing terrible by any means, just a tad uncomfortable. Also still tired.
  11. I've been intrigued by him for awhile. Obviously his injury history is a concern, but if you are looking at him as a 4th OFer and insurance, I think it makes a lot of sense.
  12. Got my second vaccine dose (Phizer) yesterday. A few mild body aches, and my arm is a little sore. Feel a little run down, but otherwise fine. My wife has a headache this morning, but is otherwise fine. If this is all we have to deal with to be protected, and to do our part in getting things back to semi-normal, it's a very small price to pay IMO.
  13. Please don't put to much credence in the ROY vote: Mike Hargrove over George Brett Pat Listach over Kenny Lofton Bob Hamelin over Manny Ramirez All those happened and were wrong... Those are all very debatable. It isn't a "who ended up being better in hindsight" award, it is a Rookie of the Year award. Also, that has absolutely nothing to do with the argument I was making. Both Hiura and Williams are huge contributors to the Brewers who have, at least so far, backed up the votes.
  14. I think it all comes down to hype in the end. Many of these systems are great at hyping their minor league players. The Brewers don't go that route. I've personally been very pleased with what the system has produced the last few years. How many other teams in MLB have had a guy get ROY votes, then follow it up with a guy who actually won ROY?
  15. No doubt that he still gets some run due to his flashy name that people remember from top prospect reports from several years back. What I see is a whole lot of average his first couple seasons in Seattle, followed by a solid 2017 season with the DBacks. He turned in 5 bleh starts with the Mariners last year, then caught fire with the Blue Jays over six starts. Those 6 starts, combined with a poor FA starting pitcher class, netted him $20 million. We should all be so lucky.
  16. Lot of money for a guy with not a lot of track record, and a pretty big injury history.
  17. Bet they end up with Darnold now.
  18. Like I said earlier, I'm a sucker for redemption archs, but only to a point. Oof!
  19. As much as we all tend to love Jeffress, I think that ship has sailed. In 2020, that 1.54 ERA was masked by a 4.09 FIP and 4.69 xFIP. I think I'm just a sucker for redemption archs LOL.
  20. So ... the Brewers were looking at Trevor Rosenthal. That is interesting. Now, there are several solid relievers out there yet. One who I haven't heard much about, though, who had a nice season last year, is Jeremy Jeffress. I wonder if a reunion may be in order?
  21. Seriously? Hard to get upset about a rumor that lasted all of 3 minutes.
  22. Why wouldn't they go with 5 outfielders? Taylor made a nice impression last year. Assuming Shaw makes the team, they have plenty of LH bats. They don't need both backup OF to hit LH. It depends if they want to go with 6 or 7 infielders. Hiura, Wong and Urias are probably locks. Robertson and Arcia are probable as well. So it comes down to whether they want to keep Shaw, Vogelbach, or both. If they keep both, that only leaves room for 4 OFers on the 26-man roster, assuming they go with 13 pitchers to start. Also, Taylor is a right-handed bat.
  23. That's a really good point, and one that hasn't really been brought up much. It appears that players are not going to have the traditional access to the video room this season, but they will have iPads in the dugout that will allow them to access the same information they would have gotten in the film room. I think that really affected Yelich last year, along with many other star hitters across MLB.
  24. With two righty bats in the regular starting lineup, I think they are convinced that the 4th OFer needs to be a lefty bat. That's why I doubt they are interested in Ramirez. I think the main competition is going to be between Fisher and McKinney, with Ray as an extreme outside shot. That does not bode well for Taylor and Lopes.
  25. I hope that Packers are taking the marketing opportunities they would have with Watt on the team into account as well. Watt's #99 Packers jersey would immediately become the top selling jersey in the NFL. After a year of major financial hits to the franchise, I don't think that is an insignificant factor.
