  1. Michael Brantley has worked out very well. Lorenzo Cain. Jake Odorizzi. Even Alcides Escobar had some solid seasons. Jeffress has turned into a solid player. Obviously Nelson Cruz was a huge miss. Grisham looked like a stud last year.
  2. OK, now do a list of prospects they have traded while they still had prospect status ...
  3. NFL coordinators make very good money. Mike Pettine made a salary of $2.5 million last year. Where is that figure coming from? I've literally never seen his salary reported and given that Wade Phillips, in 2017 was the noted highest paid DC with a 3 year, 2.1mm deal it seems highly unlikely. Literally every reputable source says the top OC/DCs in the NFL are now approaching 7 figures for the first time. There is no way Pettine made $2.5 million. You may be correct. That salary has been attributed to him on several message boards, but it appears to come from a graph noting that was his salary in his final year as the Browns head coach. It is surprising how difficult it is to determine what NFL assistants get paid. I do see a story here (https://www.patspulpit.com/2018/9/9/17837368/new-england-patriots-josh-mcdaniels-highest-paid-coordinator-in-the-nfl-indianapolis-colts) that says McDaniels is getting more than $4 million a year.
  4. Clearly trying to ensure it doesn't happen again It seems like Chris Carter was here a million years ago, but the guy just turned 34 years old.
  5. NFL coordinators make very good money. Mike Pettine made a salary of $2.5 million last year.
  6. If Austin Riley is the uber prospect that Braves fans make him out to be, why wouldn't they just give him the job? Personally I'd be leery of any deal involving the Braves, as their prospects always seem to be over hyped.
  7. I get that. I have no idea how smart Justin Turner is with his money, but there are plenty of MLB players out there who, if they earn $8 million a year, will find a way to spend $10 million.
  8. Stearns loves lefty bats. Heck, you could probably take a look at free agent lists every year, and if a player has a lefty stick, it's a good bet that the Brewers are going to express interest. Wouldn't surprise me to see them still express interest in guys like Josh Reddick, Nomar Mazera, Brian Goodwin, Brad Miller, Travis Jankowski, Jake Lamb, or even a Ben Gamel reunion.
  9. I think if the Brewers had any interest in giving Moose that kind of contract, they would have just given him that kind of contract. You are right, it is a bad contract. I know the Brewers have a hole at 3B, but unless the Reds are going to pay off a bunch of Moose's deal in a trade, I'm not interested.
  10. Hiura bats righty, and can also play 2B. Choo bats lefty, and can also play OF. Brewers dig versatility. This makes all the sense. Just wish that one if these guys they are looking at could, you know, play the hot corner.
  11. Brewers apparently looking at Shin Soo-Choo as a 1B That is the most Brewers thing ever. Probably doesn't bode well for Vogelbach's chances of making the team, though.
  12. And typically a lot more job security. I've moved with a young family, and it sucks. He's got 3 young kids, so I'm sure that played a role as well.
  13. I think he will at some point. He's only 38 years old, and could probably coach for 25-30 more years if he wants. Bright, innovative guy like that is going to have a lot of opportunities.
  14. Except that they already kicked a bunch of Wong's money down the road to 2023, so that has to be accounted for as well. I'm willing to bet that Turner is weighing something like a 2-year, $18-20 million deal from the Dodgers versus a 3-year, $35 million deal from the Brewers, with a significant amount of it deferred. Not every player is going to be interested in a large deferral, but someone like Turner, who is looking at his last big deal, might be looking at security heading into retirement. Wong's deal tells me that if Turner signs with the Brewers, he won't get much money up front.
  15. Word leaking that Leonhard has decided to stay in Madison. I imagine that it's Ejiro Eviro's job to lose now. I'd be happy with him.
  16. 1. Garrett Mitchell, CF 2. Mario Feliciano, C 3. Tristen Lutz, RF 4. Brice Turang, SS 5. Ethan Small, SP 6. Aaron Ashby, SP 7. Freddy Zamora, SS 8. Antoine Kelly, SP 9. Hedbert Perez, LF 10. Alec Betinger, SP 11. Dylan File, SP 12. Micah Bello, CF 13. Je'Von Ward, CF 14. Clayton Andrews, RP 15. Hayden Cantrelle, SS 16. Zavier Warren, C 17. Joe Gray, CF 18. Payton Henry, C 19. Carlos Rodriguez, 1B 20. Eduardo Garcia, SS 21. Joey Wiemer, RF 22. Zach Green, 3B 23. Corey Ray, CF 24. Thomas Dillard, 1B 25. David Hamilton, SS
  17. Yeah, he was actually pretty good when he could get on the mound. How about another hyped pitching prospect from around that time: Nick Neugebauer.
  18. Jeff D'Amico. He was the next big thing. I saw him pairing with Cal Eldred and giving those late 90s teams dueling aces.
  19. I expect Small to join Bettinger, File and Brown in the Nashville rotation, with hopefully Ashby following midseason. Bettinger and File are probably next up since they are already on the 40-man roster, but if Small pitches well, he could very well make his big league debut in 2021. Turang and Lutz will hopefully be in AA. I imagine that the next "prospect" (if he can still be called that) to make his MLB debut will likely be Corey Ray.
  20. Don't even throw that out there!!!!!!!! Haha Just a suggestion ... it might be a good idea to temper your enthusiasm a bit. Get too worked up, and it's easier to implode if/when it doesn't happen. I'm kinda looking at it that if it happens, great ... happy surprise. If it doesn't, oh well, it was a longshot anyway.
  21. It will be interesting to watch this play out. Is signing Wong to play 2B, while moving Hiura's bat to 1B a better option than just leaving Hiura at 2B and signing someone like Mitch Moreland to man 1B this year? I know that if Hiura can play a competent 1B that they'll be better defensively, because he's proven that he cannot play a competent 2B. Wong is a complete 180 from Hiura at 2B. Stearns indicated this morning that Hiura is going to have terrific range for a 1B. His athleticism was never a problem at 2B. It was always the throwing and fielding part. I expect that he's going to have some growing pains digging out throws at 1B, but he does have the athleticism to play there.
  22. Will Sammon confirms via Stearns that the plan is for Hiura to be the main 1B.
  23. Probably the Turner camp's way of telling the Dodgers "OK guys, this is your last chance." I think the Dodgers are probably his preference, but he'll end up going where there is more security. This is his last big contract, so he's gotta make the most of it.
  24. Don't get too excited. Brewers are likely only being used as leverage to squeeze a couple more million out of the Dodgers' couch cushions.
  25. Yeah, Chryst just turned 55, which isn't old for a college coach. He has about as much job security as any coach in major college football.
