  1. This game felt like most of this team's wins in 2019. Really blah game, but they did enough to beat a team they should have beaten. I like how pissed Rodgers was after the game. Shows he isn't happy with just getting a W.
  2. I assume you consider wins a QB stat then? That's been an argument for awhile now.
  3. This is short-sighted. Pretty much every team makes signings like this this time of year.
  4. Let's be real. It's 1st base. It isn't a hugely important defensive position in the whole scheme of the season. Vogelbach looked OK in his few chances there last summer. He'd be ok. Heck, a bunch of posters here freaked out about Narvaez's defense last year, and he ended up being just fine at catcher (the bat was another story obviously). Dan Vogelbach's defense at 1B is not going to be the reason this team does make the World Series in 2021.
  5. Like the Guerra experience a few years ago, or going back a long time, the Flying Moutons. Which Mouton was your favorite Mouton? James was the better player, but Lyle was one of those types who looked great getting off the bus. Every time he was up to bat, he looked like he was going to hit a 500-foot homer. Alas, when he made contact (rare) it was a lazy fly ball or a single dumped into left.
  6. I'm wondering what it would take to grab Colin Moran in a deal from the Pirates. The Pirates are in a youth movement, which means that K'Bryan Hayes is likely the 3B, and they still have Bell over at 1B. Moran isn't a star, but he's a solid left-handed hitter who just turned 28 and is cost-controlled. Seems like he'd he'd be a nice fit.
  7. I like the idea on its own merits, but I doubt that there is any chance that the MLB Player's Association is going to accept a rule that cuts a player's at-bats in half. But it also gives guys on the bench more AB's as once the starting pitcher is pulled, pinch hitters essentially will take 95% of the AB's in that spot in the lineup. True, but I doubt that it will significantly drive up the salaries of bench bat-types, while it would theoretically drastically reduce the earning power of DH-types. In the end, the decision is going to be determined by money.

  10. Pretty sure I've seen multi year minor league contracts before, in situations like this. But even if not, he can be added to the 40-man roster at the end of the season if they want to keep him. yes, you have. you've also seen threads on minor league signings without invitations to big league camp (such as this one) moved to the minor league forum. He's been a major league pitcher for several years now. This is in the right spot.
  11. Good thing Spring Training doesn't start tomorrow then.
  12. Must be a 2-year deal.
  13. Given our history with Richardson, Walla, Ray, Davis, Frederickson, Bradley, Jungmann, Covey, etc etc etc, I'm confident we got more use out of Claudio than we would have a draft pick. We did get a pick for Covey though, right? Yeah ... pretty sure the pick ended up being Jed Bradley. So yeah ...
  14. So much for a second reunion with Claudio following his non-tender. He's bringing his junkballs to the Angels for the bargain-basement price of $1.125 million. I'm ok with this. I think the Brewers have better options available, although Claudio for the most part was decent in his two seasons as a Brewer. It will be interesting to see if they give Small or Ashby the chance to stick as a lefty specialist in the pen, or if that is Lauer's future role. In the end, giving up a Competitive Balance Round A pick for Claudio was probably not a great value.
  15. I found this to be a pretty good rundown of all your questions. It's behind The Athletic's paywall, but worth the read if you subscribe https://theathletic.com/2263457/2020/12/15/giannis-antetokounmpo-largest-contract-in-nba-history/
  16. It's Dec. 15. Come on man.
  17. Judging by the number of Favre jerseys I still see regularly worn, he's up there too. Lets not write off Aaron Rodgers quite yet, either.
  18. I've got a potentially difficult and contentious zoom meeting at 1pm and I am so giddy I don't even care. I literally have to leave in 5 minutes for a scheduled COVID test. They are going to be scraping a happy brain!
  19. It appears that, so far at least, the method Stearns has employed this offseason has been to go after former top prospect-types who have a skill set they are looking for, but for one reason or another have not been able to stick at the MLB level long term. Not super exciting, but probably more upside than what they did last year, targeting a bunch of arguably over-the-hill vets to fill out the roster. Of course, these veteran minor league signings could simply be to fill out the depth in Nashville too.
  20. A team in my league did the same thing, and I was lucky enough to have #1 waiver priority that particular week, and stashed him for a few weeks till he got healthy. He's kept my team afloat for the last month, and got me a big win the the quarterfinals tonight. Grabbing him, and getting James Robinson off waivers in Week 2 have kept me going, even though my four top picks (Barkley, Julio, Godwin and Conner) have underperformed.
  21. LOL this is a pretty nice cold take. That game was phenomenal.
  22. Yep, that 3rd round compensatory selection will be nice. With any hope, the Packers can move enough money around to franchise Jones and then deal him off for something better than a 3rd.
  23. So I got burned pretty good in the first round of the playoffs. Chris Godwin was a dud for me, while James Robinson and Michael Thomas were only ehh. My biggest mistake ws playing James Conner in my Flex spot instead of Dobbins, though. Josh Allen ended up having a decent game after it appeared he was going to crap the bed. Right now I am down by 3 points, and I have Nick Chubb left, while my opponent has Mark Andrews and the Ravens defense. Gonna be a close one I think.
