  1. There, fixed. The Bears are not a terrible team. They have several very good skill position guys on offense, and a ton of talent on defense. They aren't a pushover. It bothers me that so many in this fanbase seem to think that the Packers should be blowing out everyone 45-3 every week. This is the NFL. That's just not how things typically work. This game was a drubbing. It was over a full hour before the final whistle. Some garbage time offense and a couple random long plays from the Bears on offense in the first half didn't change that. The Packers outclassed a decent Bears team last night, and it wasn't even close.
  2. Because Taysom Hill looked like ... well ... Taysom Hill. I expect him to look like a legit NFL QB again next weekend against the Falcons, but the Broncos have a decent defense.
  3. Which team do you think filed the tampering complaint against the Bucks? Heat? Lakers? Warriors? My guess is the Heat. They've been the team sniffing around Giannis the most, and Pat Riley seems just smarmy enough to do something like that.
  4. We'd all be speaking German.
  5. Charlie Morton to the Braves, 1 year/$15 million. Morton is a better pitcher than Smyly, so this makes a little more sense. Still, it seems very odd, to me at least, that the Braves are investing once again in old, retread pitchers, rather than go with their stable or supposed young, up-and-coming stud starters.
  6. I'm not sure where the confidence is coming from that they'll finish 3-3 or worse. The Packers have the Bears twice, Eagles, Lions, Panthers and Titans. The Bears have looked terrible of late after peaking early, the Eagles are 3-6-1 and look bad, and the Lions got shut out by a 3-7 Panthers team missing their starting QB and all-world RB. The Titans are a bad matchup for the Packers, but even if you chalk up that as a loss, the Packers are likely to be heavily favored in the other 5. I dunno if I'd call it confidence but finishing 3-3 is a very plausible scenario to me. This team has looked beatable to any opponent for a month. They just crapped out a win against the Jaguars and lost to Minnesota. They started out of the gate looking really good and have fizzled since then. Neither 3-3 or 5-1 would surprise me. Depends if the September version or the November version plays in December. I think that's fair. We'll see if the post-game narrative that painted the loss as a galvanizing opportunity holds true. There was quite a few positives that came out of yesterday's game, but a lot of negatives, too. I think it is fair to say that they are at a low point of the wave of the season. Sunday's Bear game is going to be very telling. Can they respond with a strong performance at home against a team that they should beat?

  8. The fortunate thing for the Packers is that no NFC team has managed to step up to become the class of the conference. Right now the Saints are probably in the driver's seat, but I think Taysom Hill is going to be exposed against any team with a decent defense. The Seahawks are a juggernaut on offense, but that defense is atrocious ... like think about how bad the Packers defense is, then multiply it by 2. The Buccanneers are a good squad that is held back by a past-his-prime QB. The Rams have been pretty mediocre on both sides of the ball. The Cardinals are exciting, but far from consistent. I'd probably put the Packers in the Top 10 (probably 7-8) in the power rankings, but every NFC team has its warts, and they should all be ranked very similarly right now. The conference is there for any of these teams that gets hot over the next 6 weeks. This is the year that a 12-4 record will probably get the #1 seed.
  9. Darius Shepard is not an NFL-caliber player.
  10. I thought it was very interesting how Rodgers continually looked MVS's way in huge spots yesterday. Yeah, the OT fumble was terrible. But the Packers aren't even in that spot had MVS not caught that 43-yard bomb on the last drive of regulation, or drew that huge PI on another bomb. MVS has improved a lot this season, and the adversity, if handled correctly and constructively, will go a long way toward strengthening this team for the home stretch. This Colts game was one that I figured was a toss-up, and that's exactly what it ended up being. The Colts are a very good team ... likely a Top 5 NFL team. And if the Packers play them 10 times, I bet they win 8. The Packers looked like the better team yesterday, but turnovers and an inexplicable defensive game plan in the 2nd half did them in. At the beginning of the season, I saw this team as a 11-5, 12-4-type team, and that's how it's playing out.
  11. I wouldn’t be optimistic. Many other services lost Fox before Hulu did...none have revived it. MLB and/or the teams themselves are going to have to step in I think on this. The contract with Sinclair I'm sure indicates that the channel needs to be offered to a certain number of people in the home market, and not having it available anywhere would be a breach of contract. I personally home Sinclair burns for this. It is utterly terrible. It is easy to blame both sides when these carriage disagreements happen with one carrier. But when nearly every one of them drops the channel, that's on the channel's ownership. What joke.
  12. Except not making $10 million. Huge difference.
  13. Game should be much closer. Indiana continues to shoot themselves in the foot.
  14. Bucks are reportedly signing Bobby Portis. Young (25), good size at 6'10", 250. Solid shooter, including good career numbers from 3. Not really a backup big or wing, but kind of a combo of those two. Edit: Bucks apparently signing DJ Augustin as well. There's your backup PG.
  15. Power bat, young, cheap, positional versatility at 1B, 3B and the corner OF (although not necessarily good in the field anywhere). K rate was high in 2020, but that otherwise hasn't been a concern in his career. Seems like a Stearns (or I guess Matt Arnold) type to me.
  16. NYPD should cease and desist simply based on the fact that those are utterly terrible.
  17. I would think (hope) that most people with an ounce of intelligence would realize that the development of these vaccines has absolutely nothing to do with Trump or Biden.
  18. not necessarily. the 2014 rule 4 draft pick still could be on the 2021 brewers 26-man roster all year as a rule 6 player if he's selected by the club in the 2020 rule 5 draft. The A's signed him... But he's Rule 5 eligible, so if the Brewers wanted him back, they could select him. Something tells me they are also ready to move on, though.
  19. Is it weird that this almost makes me feel better? The offense has a tendency to seem so much more like it’s best version of itself when Adams is out and the ball gets distributed more widely and more quickly. I think this happens for several reasons: Arodg doesn’t fixate, the opposing defense can’t ignore 80% of the offense, and MLF seems to develop better game plans. Losing the best* WR in the league absolutely doesn’t make you a better team, but boy, the results don’t always bear that out. Football is a weird game. Never mind. Appears that he's good to go for Sunday now.
  20. I picked him up and plugged him right in at TE. Josh Allen is my QB in a Yahoo league I'm in, so I had grabbed Winston earlier as my bye-week fill-in, as the wire QB pool was pretty scant (guys like Newton, Rivers, Cousins and Bridgewater were the highest rated, yuck). Just dropped Winston and grabbed Hill to insert in the QB spot. I'm 4-6 in that league, so what the heck. Time to live dangerously.
  21. Taysom Hill is apparently getting the start for the Saints Sunday against the Falcons. That's fun.
  22. Right ... if anything announcing it after the election removes the politics from it. As far as I can tell, Pfizer was not part of Operation Warp Speed.
  23. Nice shout out from McCalvy on Twitter this morning:
  24. Well I wouldn't say Russ cooked tonight. More like nuked some leftovers.
  25. With Adams looking perhaps on the doubtful side of questionable, we may need a vintage Rodgers Superman performance on Sunday.
