  1. If I'm Stearns I'm checking out Miguel Andujar in the DWL. If he's healthy, he'd have to be included in any deal with Yankees for Hader. This is my point: if the Yankees were going to trade Deivi Garcia for Josh Hader, they're not going to throw in a bunch of other players. They'd be trading a 21 year old, major league ready, left handed starter with at least 5 years of team control. Since Hader is the better player right now, the Yankees could include some low level minor leaguers in the deal, but not their blue chip players near the major leagues. With Brett Gardner coming out of contract, Frazier projects to be a starting corner outfielder for the Yankees. They'd be trading an everyday player with four years of control, I'm not sure how much more can reasonably be expected in a trade for a pitcher who may throw 75 innings a year, no matter how good those 75 innings are. As for Andujar, I'm sure the Yankees would include him as a throw in. He's injured a lot, an impatient hitter and doesn't play defense. The real question here is why would the Brewers want him? Garcia is a righty, and a very small, slight one at that. There is nothing to indicate that he will be any better than Freddy Peralta. The fact that he is considered the #1 prospect in what is a very weak system should have absolutely no bearing.
  2. Had to get tested today and it felt like the whole city of milwaukee was getting tested. They did awesome moving us through but from anecdotal and hard evidence it seems obvious this inst going away any time soon in Wisconsin And the longer this drags the question/discussion about the cure being worse than the problem needs to be re-explored. I understand this is a bit of chicken and egg in that if we could feasibly lock everyone inside for 1 month it would help, but in the realm of reality where we know that won't happen, is the expectation really that people won't get on a plane for 2 years? People aren't going to have their wine and cheese nights for 2-3 years? What is the duration of time at which point the majority accepts that viruses without actual treatments, aside from locking ourselves indoors, kill a lot of people and have throughout history? We can bemoan reckless behavior and people's selfish decisions if we want to, but that is still part of the reality we live in. It is far easier to make the argument that being are being selfish when calling for a 2 month quarantine than it is after 16 months. If this stretches 16 months, it means the medical research industry that is racing to produce a viable vaccine has failed miserably.
  3. I almost wonder if the Packers' offer may have come before Tonyan broke out? I agree that TE is not particularly a position of need, but perhaps the Packers saw Ertz as a clear upgrade over what they had on hand at the position. If they are truly trying to emulate the 49ers offense, Ertz is probably a closer approximation to Kittle's talent level than Tonyan is, despite Tonyan's obvious attempts to imitate Kittle.
  4. I don't think there is any way that option is exercised.
  5. I know that the team is probably cutting payroll, but exercising this option seems like a no-brainer to me. I suppose it depends on how they feel the free agent market is going to play out, though. If they feel teams are going to be super stingy, perhaps they can step in and get a few guys signed to to value deals.
  6. Where do you play him? I assume Cain will be back next year. I also think he's likely to sign a pretty hefty deal.
  7. I don't know about that. The 49ers are going to be pushing a skeleton crew out there. Let's not play into the narrative that every team in the NFC West is infallible. They're obviously not infallible, but that's still going to be a tough game. Two days after the trade deadline. It's actually amazing how they just spanked the Pats. They've got arguably a more talented defense on IR than the Packers have shown this year and they're still playing well. Ford, Bosa, Thomas, Sherman, Ansah, Blair... They've still got some edge rushers though despite losing two elite ones in Ford and Bosa. No doubt. I have no illusions that the 49er game isn't going to be a tough one for the Packers. Shanahan is going to game plan the hell out of that game, and put his skeleton crew in the best position to succeed. I hope Lafleur is up to the challenge. I simply believe that referring to the game as a "likely" loss for the Packers is a very hyperbolic statement to make.
  8. Not an exciting signing, but Roberts is a guy who had some solid years with the Raiders, primarily playing out of the slot. This very much reminds me of the Ryan Grant signing from last year. Roberts does fit the mold of the WRs the Packers typically like, though, at 6'2", 200 lbs. He's also a solid blocker. He's basically replacing Robert Foster as the veteran presence on the practice squad who can step in should there be another injury to the WR corps. I don't expect Roberts to play any sort of pivotal role in the offense, though. I don't think this signing is going to preclude them from continuing to look at the trade market to bring in another weapon, either.
  9. As OldSchoolSnapper alluded to above, Dillon isn't really the type of back that you want to use in spot duty. He's a workhorse bruiser who had the reputation of punishing defenses and getting stronger as the game went along in college. Using him as a spot player is really taking him out of his element. I HIGHLY doubt that the Packers are having second thoughts on a guy who is 7 games into his NFL career. That's a pretty hyperbolic notion. I believe you are correct, though, that it is likely to be the Williams/Dillon show next year, though. That is a tad worrisome, as they are both kind of cut from the same cloth as between-the-tackles bruisers. I'd much rather see a Jones/Dillon combo, but Jones might have priced himself out of the Packers' plans.
  10. I don't know about that. The 49ers are going to be pushing a skeleton crew out there. Let's not play into the narrative that every team in the NFC West is infallible.
  11. I'm pretty sure that it's come out through various sources that they made plays for both Emmanuel Sanders and Robby Anderson at the trade deadline last year.
  12. 162 games can certainly be a grind, especially if your team isn't especially competitive, but I think it's important, especially in baseball, to give teams the opportunity to jell through the highs and lows of a long season. If you shortened the season to 150 games, it is possible, if not likely that the 2018 and 2019 Brewer squads who got insanely hot in September wouldn't have even made the playoffs without the modified playoff format you mention. I've always thought that that last few weeks of the season in September is when good teams are fortified, and where watching the standings really gets exciting. It would be a shame to lose that excitement to immediately jump to expanded playoff baseball because MLB wants a money grab.
  13. He's available in leagues? Edmonds had standalone value even before Drake got hurt. He's rostered in 55% of leagues on ESPN. 63% on Yahoo. There must be a lot of 8-team leagues out there.
  14. Bucs, Packers, 49ers, Saints, Seahawks all could. Heck, I'd give Chicago a punchers chance also. Right. The Titans were a missed field goal from taking the Steelers to overtime yesterday. The terrible Vikings nearly (and probably should have) upset the Titans in Week 3. No one in the NFL is even close to unbeatable, let alone 3 teams in the AFC being so good that an NFC team couldn't beat them.
  15. No team is going to want to trade the type of talent it's going to take to acquire a stud like Hader. But if the Brewers do truly make him available this offseason, there will be multiple teams willing to deal that sort of talent.
  16. Rumors this morning that the Texans are entertaining multiple offers on several of their players. While the Wisconsin homers are going to be super excited about the possibility of J.J. Watt in a Packer uniform, the economics of that simply don't work. If I had to guess, though, I imagine that the Packers may end up with one of Will Fuller, Kenny Stills or Randall Cobb. Fuller would be the one I'm most excited about, but I think they probably end up flipping a 5th to the Texans for Cobb.
  17. That fits the narrative of the way they are using Gary as well. Gary played in spots last year, but this year he's been a much more focal part of the defense. It would make sense to continue seeing him ascend into a near full-time role next year as the bookend OLB opposite Z.
  18. He is a workhorse that got as many as 40 attempts in a game at BC but they were routinely pushing him into the high 20s and 30s. He needs a lot of work. He's not the type of back you use to spell and give 5 random carries to, the problem is that's often what you have to be first to get a shot in the NFL. I think they'll keep working him in as the season goes along. 6 of their last 10 games are in Lambeau, in likely crappy field conditions. That's where a guy like Dillon should cook. I don't think there is any chance that both Jones and Williams are back next year. Someone will pay Williams starter money, and Jones is going to break the bank. There is probably a good chance that one will be back (my bet is Williams), but there's also the chance that they both are gone next year, and Dillon is the feature back with Ervin (or a FA signing or rookie) is in the change-up role. Gonna enjoy Jones and Williams while they are here, though. That is probably the team's best RB duo since Levens/Bennett.
  19. Sure would be nice to be Alabama right now. If one of your stars gets COVID, or suffers a season-ending injury like Waddle did over the weekend, you just plug in the 5-star sitting being him, or the 5-star sitting behind that guy. That team is so deep, it's really incredible. I don't know why so many star recruits end up going to a place where there's a solid chance they may never leave the bench.
  20. I had a 47.5 point lead going into last night's game in one of my leagues, and was feeling pretty confident, as my opponent only had three players left to play. Unfortunately one of those players was Tyler Lockett. Now I need to hope that Allen Robinson and Jimmy Graham are held under 9.5 points combined tonight. Not looking good for me unless the Bears offense completely implodes. Hopefully Ramsey locks up Robinson, and Graham has one of his vintage 4-catch, 27 yard performances. Go Rams!
  21. Nice little implosion last night from Kenley Jansen. With Hader's Houston trade buddy being the hero to boot! That trade is the gift that keeps on giving! Hopefully Jansen gets shelled a couple more times, and the Dodgers are ready to belly up on Hader soon.
  22. I don't know if it is, though. Say what you want about the way the Packers evaluate WRs, but when you are bypassed for the active roster by the likes of Darrius Shepard, Reggie Begelton, and for that matter, Malik Taylor, it probably says more about you than it does them. (I say this as a big Begelton fan, and I hope he finds his way back to the roster).
  23. Just got an email that Hulu Live is dropping Fox Sports Wisconsin since they were unable to come up with an agreement with Sinclair. Are there any streaming services left that offer Fox Sports Wisconsin? AT&T is the last one standing. $80 a month with the extended sports package you'd need to get it.
  24. I am shocked that ARod goes on that show every week. I've never watched until recently (the last month or so), but he just doesn't fit with that group. I think Rodgers is pretty self-realized. He knows he's a pretty big nerd, but judging by that pretend frat story in that ESPN article, he appreciates bro culture, too. McAfee being a former player probably helps, too. Rodgers knows he's not going to be blindsided with tough questions from a former punter, a linebacker he used to play with, and a couple fanboys.
  25. Hope you got Chubb! Moss isn't a bad drop. Damien Harris probably wouldn't hurt either. NE RB's always stick it to you. And with Cam back, Harris will lose most of the goal line carries. Since he was just waived Wednesday, there's an extra day way to pick him up, so I have to wait till tomorrow. I still have top waiver priority, though, so he's mine. I am dropping Ertz for him, as he's slated to be out 4-6 weeks. Engram is my other TE, so I should be ok there. Would really like to finally see that Engram breakout game tonight, though. So another quandary ... with the news on Antonio Brown yesterday, is he worth a speculative add soon? I mean, I turn over the bottom of my roster pretty regularly, so he might not be a bad guy to grab and sit on for a couple weeks to see where he goes.
