  1. Ugh. I get that Williams is a little older and expensive, but it isn't as if the Packers don't currently have a massive hole at right tackle.
  2. Everyone everywhere thought the Packers had a good draft in 2018 mic drop
  3. The 9:55 p.m. update here seems to indicate otherwise. 9:55 p.m.: 40 coronavirus cases in Milwaukee now thought to be tied to April 7 election, health commissioner says The number of coronavirus cases linked to the controversial April 7 election appears to be more than five times greater than originally thought. In a Friday media briefing, Health Commissioner Jeanette Kowalik noted that she originally reported there were seven suspected coronavirus cases found in people who voted on election day or worked at the polls "Now there's 40 people that showed up," she said. "We're analyzing more to show the connections between the people." The department was analyzing data from election day, a process she said she hoped would be completed by May 1. She did not elaborate, telling reporters to "stay tuned." Gov. Tony Evers attempted to delay the election out of fears that masses of people at polling places would result in more people contracting the deadly COVID-19 disease. The governor's eleventh-hour bid was blocked by the Republican-dominated state Legislature and Supreme Court. —Cary Spivak
  4. I wonder if the Packers might be willing to throw a pick or a player at the Panthers for Curtis Samuel? It sure would be nice to get some of that jitterbug speed. Tyler Ervin might potentially provide some of that skillset, but he's far from proven.
  5. Yep - A 2WR/TE formation with Rodgers in the shotgun, motioning Jones out to the slot and then still having a sledgehammer with speed in the backfield as a running threat with 6 blockers in front of him would be fun to see. Very much the way the Titans employed Derrick Henry and Dion Lewis in the same backfield often in 2018.
  6. Lafleur has said on multiple occasions this offseason that he wanted another RB. If this draft has proven anything so far, it's that Lafleur is done with trying to incorporate McCarthy's fingerprints into his offense. He's remaking it entirely in the image he wants. He wants size and power and wants to run it down teams' throats. I think this is his way of telling Rodgers "Get with the program, or you can be replaced."
  7. With the shelf life of RBs being so short, I expect Dillon to come in and be a major contributor next year. I don't think there's any doubt that he will split time with Jones ... perhaps even a 50/50 timeshare. Jones probably played a little too much this season, and while he did stay healthy for the most part, he has been a little prone to injury in his career, so his health last year was a little lucky. Love is definitely the definition of a "wait and see", but Dillon will be a major part of the offense in 2020. I know a lot of people are bemoaning the fact that the Packers haven't taken a WR yet, but the silver lining I think is that it shows some high faith in guys like Lazard and Kumerow, and perhaps high hope that MVS can rebound and that St. Brown can come in and be a contributor as well. I am intrigued by Begelton too.
  8. I have little doubt that Josiah Deguara will play, and likely play a lot for the Packers in 2020. The Packers drafted him as a more versatile Danny Vitale, and I think Lefleur expects him to be the team's version of Kyle Juszczyk. The two have very similar athletic profiles. That said, when you draft a FB/H-Back/TE in the 3rd round, that guy needs to be a stud. It's simply not an extremely valuable position in today's NFL. To me, he's the guy that may make or break this draft class. It's an odd choice, and I certainly hope they did their homework on the kid and know what they're getting and where he fits.
  9. We need to remember that draftniks are not privy to teams' value boards, so we really have no clue where teams placed his value at. But I imagine that many teams see Dillon compared to Derrick Henry, who just signed his $10.2 million franchise tender, and see a great value there. Dillon has a better profile than Jamaal Williams did coming out. He also had the top RAS athletic profile of any RB in this year's draft. I could see the Packers tagging Jones if he has a great year, then dealing him next offseason. I agree ... I don't see them dumping big money into the position. THey showed their hand by taking Dillon yesterday.
  10. 40 cases in Milwaukee alone are now being linked directly to the April 7 election. Freedom! 'Merica!!!
  11. That team has backed itself into salary cap hell over the last couple years, and it has led to a ton of holes and absolutely no depth. They needed to use this draft to build depth back up again. But it isn't like they've had a 100% terrific draft. Jefferson was a solid pick and should be a good replacement for Diggs. But Gladney profiles as a nickel corner, and Dantzler had a very good college career, but tested absolutely terribly at the combine ... like almost the worst CB athletic profile in history bad. Cleveland was a very good pick for them, and will likely start at RT for a decade. I wanted him to be a Packer, although the Spriggs comparison that many have made is alarming. The Vikings weren't as good as the Packers last year, and arguably had bigger holes to fill on their team. They also had a ton more draft capital gained through trades. I agree that they seem to be piling up late round picks as a way to make sure they have their pick of the UDFA-type guys today.
  12. If they go WR, Duvernay is an electric slot type. Gandy-Golden and Peoples-Jones really fit their athletic profile, though. And Collin Johnson is enormous (6'6"!!!) My pick is Joe Reed, though. Big, strong receiver who is also a very good special teams player. But they won't take him.
  13. Yeah, he's who I wanted. That sucks. Would have been a great fit.
  14. He is fun. But I don't know. Packers don't seem to like those type of guys. It will be interesting to see how they decide to use Tyler Ervin this year. Similar type of skill set.
  15. Lacy didn't have near the athletic profile Dillon does. Dillon is more a Derrick Henry/Eddie George type. I think there's some recency bias here. Lacy was considered the best running back by most pundits in the 2013 draft. He was considered a pretty well rounded prospect who could block, catch and run fairly well for a guy his size. I don't think it's accurate to downplay Lacy now while comparing Dillon, who was considered more of a Day 3 prospect until shooting up draft boards quite recently, to the best running back in the NFL. I'll stand by it. Lacy was considered one of the top backs in that draft. But he was always considered a banger with good hands. His athletic profile was never high, which is why he lasted till the 2nd round, and it went downhill as he ate himself out of the league.
  16. I'd still like a WR at the end of round 3, but at this point, is there any point in trying to choose who they will go with? They'll probably take a safety or edge rusher because they don't need a safety or edge rusher. I have to admit that it is a little disconcerting that arguably the team's biggest need is WR, yet they haven't grabbed one in what might be the most talented and deepest WR class in history. Fortunately there are still a bunch of very talented receivers still available.
  17. It's not just the wins....it's more that the two best players on the team before yesterday was our QB and our RB....and we just drafted a QB and a RB in the first 2 rounds. Also, it's kinda tough to play 2 QBs and RBs at the same time, so that makes it even more odd. There is definitely room for multiple RBs in today's NFL. The 49ers just rode that recipe to the Super Bowl.
  18. Yes, it is okay to think out of the box sometimes. Gute seems to be doing just that with his picks so far. Fans seem to be overwhelmingly NOT OK with it. And fans are mostly idiots when it comes to immediate draft grades.
  19. Hyperbole much? Dillon is a tremendous athlete. Jones, Dillon and Williams will make a fun 3-headed RB monster. Heard rumors this offseason that the Packers wanted to update the backfield. Dillon is a load, though. Jones has the wiggle, and Dillon is going to bring the thunder. I'll give you credit, you will accept any crap for the team you root for. Gay, Chin, Wilson better picks than this guy. Somebody ranked as a late 3rd early 4th. We have a RB who led the NFL in TDs and youre fine with a 2nd round selection of one? Jones was a 5th round pick. REAAAAACHHHH Oh give it a rest. You'll be Dillon's biggest fan when he's tearing through the Bears defense next fall. Also, as you can see by Mel's big board, draftnik rankings are far from the be all, end all of player value. Lafleur wants the Packers to be a running team. He wanted a horse. Jones is great, but he isn't a guy you can hand the ball to 30 times a game. He's also fought several injuries in his career. Dillon is a MUCH more talented player than Williams, and I love what Jamal Williams brings. I certainly wouldn't have gone RB there, but it is a pick that makes some sense.
  20. Lacy didn't have near the athletic profile Dillon does. Dillon is more a Derrick Henry/Eddie George type.

  22. Baun or Edwards, or a DT please.
  23. Jefferson and Cleveland are good picks. Gladney profiles as a nickel corner, though. Jets just took Mims. darn.
  24. Cleveland is a good pick for the Vikings. He'll start for them for a long time. I'm surprised that idiot front office made a good pick.
