  1. I think this is very accurate. Exactly. Love is not the move I would have made, but I'm not an NFL GM. I'm a pud Packers fan commenting on a message board at 7:15 a.m. on a random Friday. Could this move blow up in Gute's face? Of course. But I certainly admire the fact that we have a GM willing to make an extremely gutsy move like this. It gives me hope for both the immediate and long-term future of the organization.
  2. I've read a ton of hyperbole over the years here, but this one might take the grand prize.
  3. Fun pick. Will give Packer fans something to talk about other than the 'rona for awhile. Plus putting a big chip on QB1's shoulder isn't necessarily a bad thing.
  4. I don't think you draft backup QB's in the first round though, do you? Well, they did in 2005. Worked out ok.
  5. New England has a ton of currency they could have traded to Seattle.
  6. I think I read this quote exactly in 2005.
  7. Holy Crap! Jordan Love!
  8. Gotta be Patrick Queen?
  9. Vikings drafted a WR, while their CB depth chart is a terrible Mike Hughes and a few Aldi's grocery checkers. Their WR depth chart was pretty ugly after the Diggs trade too, so it's not like they didn't add a need. I would argue that CB is a much bigger need than WR, simply because they still have an all-world guy in Thielen at WR. But as a Packer fan, I am totally good with them not caring about CB.
  10. Gonna say the Packers take Queen or Mims ... or trade down.

  12. I think the league puts an arbitrary 1000 point value on a future first(or did at one time) Alone, that would get you to the mid-teens. Packaged with our current first? You could probably get up to 10. Just have to go back to 2018, when the Saints sent the Packers the 27th and 147th pick in the 2018 draft as well as their first-rounder in 2019 in exchange for the 14th overall selection that year. If the Packers packaged their 2021 #1 with #30, they could probably get to #12. But who knows if teams are even valuing 2021 picks with the 2020 college season up in the air?
  13. Here's my Packers 5-round mock that is sure to be 100% incorrect: 1.30: WR Denzel Mims, Baylor - Fast target who has polish and playmaking ability. Mims is a mid to upper 1st round talent most years, but gets downgraded due to the extreme depth in this year's WR class. World-class athlete with a RAS score of 9.78. (Alternate - OT Ezra Cleveland, Boise State) 2.62: Justin Madubuike, DT, Texas A&M - At 6-3, 293 pounds, he fits the size profile that the Packers typically look for at the position. Great combination of power and quickness. (Alternate - WR/TE Chase Claypool, Notre Dame) 3.94: Jordyn Brooks, LB, Texas Tech - Brooks (6-0, 240 pounds) has a good blend of athleticism and physicality for the second level, and should be a nice fit with Christian Kirksey in the middle of the Packers' defense. (Alternate - WR Bryan Edwards, South Carolina) 4.136: OT Jack Driscoll, Auburn - Driscoll fits the Packers’ profile as a smart player who is athletic and strong in pass protection. Plus he profiles to have tackle-guard versatility. (Alternate - S Jeremy Chinn, Southern Illinois) 5.175: LB/S Tanner Muse, Clemson - Man without a set position, but perhaps one of the best athletes in the draft. He's the type of guy that Pettine sould find a hybrid role for. (Alternate - WR Quintez Cephus, Wisconsin) I'm sure there will be a ton of trades, though, so who knows?
  14. Agreed. I doubt that Aiyuk and Reagor are on the Packers' draft board because of this. I could definitely see Mims as their guy at #30, or if they trade back into the mid to high 2nd round, though.
  15. Why would people want the first fun sports thing in like 6 weeks to be ruined? The only answer I could come up with is "because people are terrible." I had another argument this morning with a guy who thought that someone hacking the draft would be hilarious. To who? I mean come on! Can't we have just a shred of positivity and faux normalness without someone making the world burn?
  16. I kinda dig Ervin as a slot/gadget guy. He actually had a pretty sizable role in the offense by the end of the season, and brings much-needed speed and wiggle. If they ignore the slot position in the draft, Ervin could theoretically take a lot of those reps.
  17. Looking at Twitter today, there seems to be a growing number of idiots out there hoping that the draft gets hacked. It's almost like they don't realize that if any team gets hacked, the NFL will shut the whole draft down so fast the viewers won't know what hit them. This is the first real live sports thing happening in 5 weeks. I've never looked so forward to a draft in my life. If it gets shut down because some idiot wants to see a GIF of Spongebob pop up as the Jaguars are announcing their pick, I'm gonna be pissed.
  18. If the Packers stay at #30, I think they take one from the following group: 1. Kenneth Murray, ILB - His skillset is a bit redundant with Kirksey, but the guy is a tackling machine and better in coverage than Martinez ever was. Patrick Queen would probably be a better fit, but I highly doubt he makes it past the Saints. 2. Justin Jefferson, WR - His talent as a chain mover and silky-smooth route runner with speed would be a perfect fit for what the Packers are looking for. 3. A.J Epenesa, DE - Perfect body type for a 3-4 DE, with the ability to bulk up near 300 pounds without losing athleticism. Also a big motor guy who is solid in all aspects of DL play. 4. Ezra Cleveland, OT - The exact type of tackle prospect that the Packers have been drafting for years. It's almost like he was built in a factory to play on the Packers' o-line. 5. Denzel Mims, WR - If all the above guys are taken, I don't think Mims gets past the Packers. He doesn't have the smoothness of Jefferson, but can fly and jump out of the stadium. 6. Michael Pittman/Chase Claypool, WRs - Gute definitely has a type at WR, and these two fit it to a T. Huge guys with speed and massive wingspans. It would be great of one if them slips to the Packers' 2nd round pick.
  19. The Colts apparently are enamored with Jordan Love, and are considering jumping into the late 1st round if he's still there. If I'm the Packers, and the Colts call offering their two 2nd rounders (#34 and #44) for #30 and a 4th, I would do it. A deal like that wouldn't surprise me.
  20. I know that the county is denying that it had anything to do with the live election, but the timelines do match up.
  21. Sorry, society is going to implode if we're looking at another two years of this, even if only "on and off". If we are still social distancing two years from now because of this, it signifies a complete breakdown of the medicinal research industry. I would hope that they will have a vaccine, increased and more efficient testing and other treatment/avoidance options within six months max. We live in the most technologically advanced time in the country's and world's history, and so many resources are being devoted to this, there is no way it's going knock the world down for two years. I imagine that everyone will eventually have access to a vaccine, and to electronic testing that can give you an answer on whether you've been exposed within seconds.
  22. I know. Perhaps that was the wrong post to reply to to complain about the Packers' propensity for drafting undersized college DEs and moving them to OLB.
  23. * who is slightly undersized and made a position switch in college Ugh ... that is the one thing that they always seem to do that I'm so sick of. Jamal Reynolds, Nick Perry, Datone Jones, Rashan Gary ... even Mike Neal. They keep drafting these undersized college DEs and try to turn them into top-flight OLB/Edge rushers. It never works. Just stop it! These college DEs just aren't big enough to power past NFL tackles, and aren't fast/athletic enough to get around them. It's like they never learn, though. Enough already! I say this while still having some hope for Gary.
  24. Except that Rhodes went 6-9 in 1997, and followed it up with a 3-13 stinker in 1998 for the Eagles. He was pretty dang lucky to get another shot with the Packers.
