  1. Ton on money per year, and a ton of years. I was thinking he was looking at 3 years, $36 million tops. This deal blows that out of the water.
  2. Cue up the Hiura vs. Moose competition for the 2B spot in the 2020 All-Star Game.
  3. Really? Just so we're clear, how many big ticket free agents have signed so far? As a Brewer fan it appears more active because Grandal, Moose and Pomeranz have already signed huge deals, but overall the market is not moving at a lightning pace. It's Dec. 2. Stay calm. Good things will happen.
  4. I love Moose ... but $64 million guaranteed? That is bonkers. That contract has the big possibility of blowing up in the Reds faces. That team continues to be a rudderless ship. I can definitely see where he won't be worth $16M per season after two years. I can't see it blowing up in their faces though. How long is Votto signed up for? Through social security? Moose can move to 1B, if he loses steps. Votto is signed through the 2024 season ... so longer than Moose LOL
  5. Bummed that Moose signed with a rival. Was hoping to see him go to an AL team. The Brewers taking the chance on signing him and installing him at 2B really paid off for him ... and paid off for the Brewers. It was a terrific move all around, even though by showing an ability to play a decent 2B, and put up great numbers in the process, he seemingly priced himself out of Milwaukee. I expect Moose to put up All-Star caliber numbers with the Reds in 2020. There could be a drop-off after that, but he should have no problems hitting in that bandbox of a stadium for half his games.
  6. Sign Aguilar and Thames back up, and its time to party like it's 2018!

  8. Four years! Wow! I really like Moose, and he was great in his year + here. But there is no way I want to go to four years on him. Good for him, though. That is exactly what he's been looking for the last two offseasons, and was shut out both times. I think other free agents are going to see what Grandal and Moose are getting, and look at the Brewers as a solid place to rebuild value.
  9. Important to note that one fan's "annoying" is another fan's "fun and endearing". I love the oversized personality stuff that players like Morgan and Gomez brought if they are helping the team win games.
  10. The Mets are the type of team that can go out and add a Thor-type talent in Cole or Strasburg via free agency as a replacement. There is no Hader-level RP talent in free agency. Just adds to the idea that the return value would be huge. I don't know if the Brewers would view Thor as a potential return, but the idea cannot be dismissed out of hand.
  11. Pretty much. If Hader is dealt this offseason, it's going to be for an "OMGMFOGINFKJHT$$$!!!!!!" return. You can argue the teams, and whether they particularly would make the deal or not. But the return would be huge, no matter which team does it. Pretty much any team who has any hope of competing in the next half decade would love to have Hader.
  12. There's a whole forum for this sort of talk! You should check it out. viewforum.php?f=66
  13. If the Mets are interested, I want J.D. Davis and Dom Smith as a start. I'm really high on Davis.
  14. Uhh LOL no. This is not true. At all. Can't say definitively either way. Urias has better on base skills but he has to prove it in the majors and there are still questions regarding if he can stick at SS long term. Hence the "not true" comment. Arcia's defense is major league-caliber without a doubt, but his bat is lacking. By all accounts Urias is a bat-first middle infielder with questions regarding his defense at SS. Saying that the Brewers traded for another Arcia couldn't further from the truth.
  15. I'm totally up for watching Tom Brady get steamrolled behind that terrible Bears offensive line.
  16. As with anything else, we just have to keep our options open and if the right deal falls into our lap, by all means take it. But they shouldn't be afraid to say no to trading him if their price tag isn't met. This is it right here. The Brewers by no means are obligated to deal Hader. They hold all the cards here. You put a huge price tag on him, and if another team doesn’t meet that price, oh well, you go into 2020 with the best reliever in the game back in your pen. The Brewers SHOULD be in a no-lose situation here.
  17. I wonder if the Brewers would be able to acquire J.D. Davis and Dom Smith for Hader? Would be two young, talented pre-arby hitters to fill their holes at 3B and 1B.
  18. Ken Rosenthal is reporting via The Athletic that Hader is in fact available, "according to major league sources." Speculates that the Mets are a possible landing spot, naming J.D. Davis and Jeff McNeil as possible return chips. Also names Nationals, Dodgers and Twins ... along with pretty much any contender, as other possibilities.
  19. In theory, no. But the Giants have just enough weapons to be a little scary.
  20. Considering who the author is, I expected it to be a proposal for some 26-year-old AA catcher with poor defense but good OPB numbers.
  21. It's difficult to simply find players that had as big of a drop as Shaw, rebound or not. That makes me think it's an aberration. Guess we'll find out in a couple days if the Brewers agree.
  22. 14 inches of snow here on Tuesday/Wednesday. We are predicted to get another 10-16 inches starting this afternoon through most of the day tomorrow. Normally I like winter, but this is a bit excessive.
  23. This is the same stuff you hear about the Badgers every Saturday, and the Packers every Sunday. Is this just the instant-ranting allowed by Twitter that allows for immediate negative feedback, or are we truly just not enjoying sports the way fans used to? My goodness.... Lloyd Carr once said 'I'd take an ugly win over a pretty loss every Saturday.' I still believe that to be true, personally. If you ever really dig deep into it, its always the same people on message boards, and the same people on Twitter, posting that negativity. It is often the same people across multiple sports as well. I think that there is a lot of people out there who simply watch sports with a very pessimistic slant. That guy is typically at most sports bars, too, but at least at a sports bar you can go sit at the other end of the bar. On social media, that guy is constantly screaming in your ear.
  24. If they go into next season with Shaw penciled in to start anywhere, they aren't serious about contending. Yeah he could rebound, but let him rebound somewhere else. Serious contenders don't go into a season relying on .157 hitters to carry the load. There's plenty of other options for 3B that won't cost a ton. They might not have Shaw's ceiling, but their floors are much, much higher. Oh yes, because players who had horrible seasons NEVER rebound, right. This is a bad take. I totally agree that there is obvious concern for Shaw considering his poor season, but he isn't at an age where players typically decline, and he had a two-year track record of good offense before going in the tank last year. To state as a fact that the Brewers don't have intention of contending if they give Shaw another chance is simply taking an extreme stance for the sake of taking one.
