    If this is the deal, it is safe to say that A LOT of people have not put the right kind of value on Ruiz. Including many here. Definitely makes the Hader trade look better in retrospect.

    What makes Ruiz so much more expendable than Frelick and Mitchell (Wiemer is an outlier as more of a power threat)? Frelick, Mitchell and Ruiz all bring somewhat similar skillsets to the table, and all three can fly, but Ruiz has that calling-card of truly game-altering speed.

    Kicking the can down the road is how NFL teams doom themselves. And we are suggesting doing that now, but for a decade or more, and not just a couple years? Nope. There's a reason the Bonilla contract has been a laughingstock for decades. It was stupid then, and there unfortunately is a yearly reminder of that stupidity.

    Reynolds wouldn't be just another outfielder. He is what the absolute ceiling of someone like Mitchell or Frelick would be. That would be a "go for it" type move if I ever saw one.

    In the end, does it really matter if Turang doesn't provide 3B-type power if you are getting it from Adames at SS and Urias at 2B? It isn't set in stone that 3B has to be a power position. Cirillo certainly wasn't a huge source of power, and is one of the best 3B in Brewers history.

    I don't think Tellez is a terrible 1B, and supposedly Singleton is actually pretty good over there.

    And water is wet. Contreras to the Cards was about the easiest free agent match you could make this offseason. I'd be very surprised if he doesn't follow in Yadi's douche footsteps.

    It would be just my luck that they'll jettison a guy I hate watching hit (Hiura) only to replace him with someone who is basically the LHH version of Hiura. At least Gallo is a quality defender, so he has that going for him.

    Hiura is an enigma. He's a terrible fielding right-handed hitter who oddly and frustratingly can't touch lefty pitching. IMO this team would be better off dealing him and then finding a player who actually compliments Tellez's skillset, not one who poorly mimics it. They need a RHH 1B/DH type who has a clue against lefties. I'd be extremely surprised if he's back.

    He simply said the quiet part out loud. What did he say that wasn't 100% true? Like I said earlier, god forbid a player show so interest in winning and building a World Series-contending ballclub, rather than just worry about collecting a paycheck. I personally wish more players would speak up in this manner.
