Reetz had an out in his contract, so the Brewers had to add him to the 40-man or release him. That out is no longer there. If he clears waivers, he remains Brewer property. I'd say it's 50-50 he clears. Some team may take a chance on the offensive awakening he's had this year.

If Adames can clean up his approach and mirror what he did last year after coming to the Brewers, he already is that guy.

Define "real 3B". Urias hit 23 dingers last year in 490 plate appearances, and is on pace to hit close to those marks again this year, despite his overall batting numbers not looking as good. He also just turned 25, and is, in theory, on the young end of his prime years. It isn't a matter of being "overly attached", but moreso recognizing value and potential in a player who is still very young and cost controlled. Simply because a player doesn't look like Scott Rolen or Mike Moustakas, it doesn't necessarily mean they aren't a "real 3B". That said, Adames has the type of larger frame that tends to slow down reaction time as he gets older. He also has the arm for 3B.

I previously hadn't considered this, but I like it. Turang appears to have the chops to play SS at an MLB level, and Adames has the power you'd typically look for at 3B. Urias's offense looks much better from the 2B position in the lineup than it does from 3B.

Jace is a free agent, and may actually command the type of salary that wold price him out of the Brewers' plans I think. Every team is going to value a guy like that who is solid all over the diamond defensively and isn't a dumpster fire with the bat.

I think Urias has a higher ceiling than Turang offensively. For that reason I think he is the odds on favorite to see most of the time at 2B next season should they let Wong walk. They'll either acquire a 3B or give it to Brousseau. Turang will likely take the Jace Peterson super-sub role next year.

Just have to say that while I enjoyed the first two seasons of The Orville during its Fox run, the newest Hulu season was phenomenal. This show is more in the spirit of Roddenberry's original Star Trek than any Trek show out there currently. Bravo to Seth McFarlane for taking his nerdy passion project up to the level it has become.

That is an extremely good point. I personally am high on these guys not simply because they are good prospects, but because the Brewers traded the finest relief pitcher in the game to get them, and I want this team to have success. I get why a team in the Brewers' situation has to trade stars away, but they can't afford to miss on the return and still remain competitive long term.

You doing THIS is contrarian. Going the "holier than thou" route typically isn't a good look.

It isn't about you not agreeing with me. You are literally telling several people that they are flat out wrong for ranking Ruiz higher than the Brewers existing OF prospects, which is a totally subjective exercise. If that isn't contrarian, I'm not exactly sure what is.

I can see that you are being somewhat contrarian simply to be contrarian, but it is totally OK to be excited about the new guy ... especially when as a fan we are trying to justify giving up the best relief pitcher in the majors. I don't care if Ruiz was playing his games on the moon, those numbers are enough to make anyone do a double-take.

It continues to defy logic that a right-handed batter with the bat speed that Hiura brings simply cannot figure out even mediocre left-handed pitching. I think that's why he's been thrown into the lineup so often against lefties ... in educated theory, he SHOULD be able to hit them.

The Davis/Taylor CF we currently have certainly isn't setting the world on fire. And considering Ruiz has put up an OPS of 1.033 to go along with 13 HRs and 60 (!!!) SBs in 380 plate appearances in AA and AAA this season, I think it would be a safe assumption that he would be an improvement in CF for the Brewers. He has had 27 MLB ABs this season, and hasn't shown much at the MLB level yet. But he has been by all accounts one of the minor leagues' biggest breakout stars this season.

I would highly expect Ruiz to be up shortly.

It could be that they are perhaps extremely high on Ruiz and Gasser, and the Padres finally caved and offered the prospects the Brewers wanted. But then if that is the case, Ruiz should be in Pittsburgh and starting in CF tonight.
