  1. Right ... believing the latter is making a lot of assumptions while jumping to some pretty drastic conclusions.
  2. Coulda fooled me. What is it then? I mean, you literally said this - "Rumor had it Shaw was already unhappy with us and wanted to be released instead of rotting away his year in the minors. Not to mention he didn't seem to really enjoy the part time role even in September." You said right there he was unhappy with the team. Unhappy = mad, right? I personally did not say that ’right’ there. I said that was the rumor. He definitely was unhappy with the situation and I really doubt he was okay being in the minors and not being able to be in the majors to prove himself. Who would? No one. Give me a break. You wouldn't have brought it up if you didn't believe it. Of course he was unhappy. Because he played like crap in the majors.

  4. Travis Shaw isn't an idiot. He knows why he was playing in AAA, and that it was 100% his doing. Where did I say that? Didn’t say that. The point I'm not so subtly referring to is that he knows why he was in AAA, and doesn't hold the team responsible for that. What I'm saying is that your narrative that he is mad at the team is a poorly thought out one.

  6. Is there any credibility whatsoever to this rumor other than a Cardinals' announcer just spewing it out on air? None ... no credibility. Even less credibility for the "didn't seem to really enjoy the part time role even in September" part. Shaw looked to me like a guy who was frustrated with his own performance. That's it.
  7. Shaw, in an Instagram post yesterday: As I look back on 2019, all I can come up with is “WHY”. Why did this happen, why couldn’t I fix it, why did this last so long, why me. I went through periods of anger, frustration, disappointment, anxiousness, among others. 2019 broke me down to my core. But I can tell you one thing that was gained was wisdom and a self awareness of what’s important and how to make sure it doesn’t happen again. I don’t have the answers for what happened in 2019 but I know one thing, 2020 WILL be better. So much wisdom and mental strength was gained this year. Time to check out for awhile from baseball, and I promise 2020 will be special again, no regrets! Much love! Those aren't the words of a guy who was unhappy and wanted his release. Seems pretty positive and self-reflective to me
  8. The Cowboys will almost certainly be missing all-world LT Tyron Smith, and could possibly be missing RT La'el Collins as well. Not having either would be enormous losses for them, but not having both against a good pass rush like the Packers' could very well be a backbreaker. Elliot is a terrific RB, though, and the Packers' suspect run defense could very well be a problem. I expect BJ Goodson to play quite a bit, and the Packers to stack the box against the run, forcing Prescott to beat them through the air. I expect Alexander to lock down Cooper. Hopefully Cobb won't hurt them too much.
  9. That isn't perfect but Seager's value according to them is a bit lower. Personally I think that trade value for Seager is low. We're talking about a first-division high-end SS still controllable for two seasons. Very rarely do you see two contenders deal young stud players for each other, but a Hader/Seager swap would make sense for both sides.
  10. Corey Seager would be an incredible "get" for the Brewers. The Brewers would likely have to add something to Hader to get that done, though. Man the Dodgers have an embarrassment of riches.
  11. The difference between Arcia and an average shortstop is the difference between a guy like Thames and a guy like Rizzo. Arcia is so bad an average player is a big upgrade. No it isn't. When you talk about upgrading Arcia, you are saying you are looking at going from bad to mediocre or even sub-mediocre offensively. Going from Thames to Rizzo would be going from good to great. Spending a good amount of money to replace a black hole in your lineup with a slightly smaller black hole just isn't the answer, in my opinion. I'm all for locating an acquiring an upgrade at SS ... I just don't think guys like Iglesias and Galvis are worth the trouble.
  12. Soto is a great player, but Hader against Soto is a matchup that Hader wins probably 85-90 times out of 100. The Brewers 100% made the right call. It just didn't work out.
  13. Dodgers just as easily can go out and drop $15 million per year on the top reliever on the FA market this offseason. Money is no object to that team. If they deal off high value players for Hader, it's because they see him as significantly better than anything they can acquire with only money.
  14. For sure. If the team were to move Hader, the price would need to be sky high. I'm talking like a crazy sort of ask. Even then, I very much doubt he gets moved. Stearns seems like the type that would listen on anyone, though.
  15. Never say never, but I would be extremely surprised if they moved Hader this offseason. I get the feeling that the Brewers front office has a sky high value on him, and considers him a cornerstone and building block of this run. Part of me does wonder, though, what kind of value other organizations place on him.
  16. they did regularly before September.
  17. I think Pomeranz, coming off a horrible year, singed with the Giants for about $3 million. I would expect him to double that as a reliever.
  18. Agreed. It was a bad play for sure, but hanging this on Grisham might be the absolute worst take being thrown out there.
  19. I'd counter by saying that this team has arguably never had a reliever as talented as Josh Hader. Like I said, we'll see.
  20. Yep. I could see him going for a 3rd rounder if he gets healthy.
  21. I've always liked Gibson. I think it would be in their best interest to stay in on Ryu too. He seems like the type that might fly under the radar and end of signing a below market deal, despite being really, really good. Otherwise I'm all in on Lyles, or perhaps Nova on a cheap deal.
  22. Cooper Hummel ... you mean the guy who didn't log one inning as a catcher in 2019, after getting a grand total of 64 innings in 2018? Yeah, he's not a catcher. Interesting prospect. But not a catcher.
  23. We'll see. I personally will be pulling for the guy to figure it out, get over the failure of the last week, and get back to being dominant. Because that would be better for the team.
  24. Hader most definitely deserves the brunt of the criticism for not only last night's result, but Saturday's as well. He blew it. No ifs, ands or buts about it. Unfortunately that's life as a late-inning reliever. Hell, one of the best late-inning guys of all time, Craig Kimbrel, almost single-handedly eliminated his team from the playoff race this year. It happens. Its hard for me to fault CC for going with Hader last night. I wish it had been for the 9th only instead of two innings, but it is what it is. He's the best reliever on the team, and was put in the position to close out the victory. He couldn't do it. It sucks, but that doesn't change the fact that he's the best reliever on the team both currently and in the future. It certainly would be nice to get him down the the Arizona pitching lab this offseason and have him perfect that slider. It would make him that much better.
  25. Wow. That's one heck of a take. I'm not sure your could get much more obnoxious than you have since the end of the game last night. So this means that the first time Hader blows a lead next year, you're gonna revel in it? I gave you credit for softening your stance last night and having some very good posts on the subject, but this seemingly has gone in reverse.
