  1. 100% None of us really knows anything about these guys really other than the highlight tapes over the last month and what the "experts" say about them. Sure, maybe we all saw a few games last fall, but I would doubt that many typical fans are watching a college game with an eye toward how those players would perform in the NFL. All I really base my assumptions off of is the measurables the Packers typically target at certain positions, and which draft-eligible prospects fit those.
  2. Right ... what I wouldn't give to sneak a peak at GB's draft board to see how they truly rank these guys. If they have Olave ranked highly, they should most certainly take him. I mean, they are smarter than me when it comes to this stuff. But if it gets to #22, and there are two WRs on the board who they rank similarly, my guess is they'll take the guy who is the better downfield blocker. It truly is a really important part of Lafleur's offensive philosophy.
  3. There's a reason why the Brewers were able to acquire Narvaez for basically a nothingburger prospect and a pick. He has limitations, and was considered poor defensively. But most catchers have limitations. In fact, considering Narvaez's defensive improvement, I really don't think there are more than 4-5 catchers in all of MLB I'd take over him. That doesn't mean he's really a stud. What it does mean is that there just aren't that many stud catchers out there right now. Narvaez is a solid starting catcher on a playoff-caliber team. He isn't going to put up superstar numbers, but he isn't going to hurt you with the bat or in the field either. And that has a lot of value.
  4. I certainly see the huge need at WR, but the prospect of seeing the dumber/immediately reactive portion of this team's fan base melt down should they not take one in the 1st round almost has be giddy with excitement.
  5. Drake London is 6'4", 220 lbs, is known as a good blocker, and while he hasn't been timed in the 40, was predicted to run in the high 4.4s to low 4.5s. To me he seems like the type of receiver who Gute would create in a lab for the Packers offense.
  6. We're obviously going to have to agree to disagree. Theilen has regressed numbers-wise, but at the time they dealt Diggs, he was pretty dang great still. And it can certainly be argued that Mike Zimmer's conservative old-school run-heavy approach straight out of the 1980s simply cannot support having two star #1-type WRs. We'll see what happens this year under a coach that should be willing to open things up more. We'll also see concerning Olave. While there are some similarities to Jefferson, JJ is bigger all around, and was seen as a better all around receiving prospect (plus I wanted JJ to be a Packer in the worst way, and was peeved with the Vikings took him). I guess I'm just not a fan of smaller, skinny WRs. Packers haven't had one with that body type who had any success since probably Robert Brooks or Driver I suppose.
  7. Simply because a player works out doesn't mean it wasn't a questionable pick at the time. I'm simply saying the Vikings, who at the time considered themselves contenders, could have used that pick to fill a bigger hole on their roster than #2 WR. I argue that they have sputtered around mediocrity since then because they have failed to address the glaring needs, instead choosing the glitzy skill positions with their high picks. One of Olave's biggest knocks is his lack of blocking effort. I'm not saying that it is impossible that the Packers draft him, but that I'd just be extremely surprised if they do. Granted Gute doesn't have a super long track record as a drafter, but every perimeter WR he has targeted since taking over, from FA acquisitions to rookie free agents, has been the tall, strong, physical type. I think we're going to see a lot more of Lafleur's offense this year as well, which will be big on heavy sets and using the run to set up the pass. Not to the level we see in Tennessee or San Fran (Rodgers is still around after all) but more than in the past,
  8. I predict that the Packers will come out of the second day of the draft with two of a group of WRs including Pickens, Alec Pierce, Christian Watson and Treyvon Burks. All 4 seem 100% like Packer types, i.e. they are big, fast, rugged receivers who can block down the field. Those hoping for Olave or Skyy Moore don't realize they are not blockers whatsoever, and make MVS look thick size-wise. I don't see the fit there. Honestly, part of me kind of hopes they don't take a WR in Round 1. That is a very Vikings-esque move, and a reason why the Vikings have hovered around mediocrity for years. A few years ago they dealt Diggs, and used the pick they got back on Jefferson, when it can be argued that that team had much bigger needs than attempting to draft a 1-for-1 replacement for their #2 WR. They've neglected both the offensive and defensive lines for years, and it shows. But they have plenty of shiny, pretty weapons! No ... the NFL draft's 1st round is for targeting athletic freaks. Justin Jefferson is a very good ... ok great WR. But what has having him on the team brought the Vikings?
  9. Using a MacBook Pro (Monterey 12.2.1) and Chrome as my browser. I like Chrome, so I don't want to go to a different browser. I see no changes in how the ads are loading, If anything, they are loading slower, which makes the experience even worse. All I want is the ads to load at the same time as the rest of the page. I applaud what you are doing here with the site, Brock, but after 15 years of browsing and diligently reading this site, I am getting pretty frustrated. These Google ads are absolutely terrible.
  10. I visit this site much more frequently on a desktop than I do on a phone or tablet, but I notice it both places. I have significant bounce on my desktop, and it doesn't seem to matter what the internet speed is. The ads constantly load slower than everything else.
  11. Why would there be a difference between this site and Twins Daily, though? Aren't they basically the same template, more or less? The ad issue is demonstrably worse here.
  12. I think at this point Grisham and Urias have basically cancelled each other out. Grisham looked great in 2020, but was pretty meh last year. Whereas Urias looked like a solid building block last year after a poor 2020 showing, If Urias could have stuck at SS, I think it was an easy win for the Brewers. A little closer if he's a 3B only moving forward. I wouldn't be surprised if they already have him pegged as the 2B of the future, though, once Wong's deal is up. It's easy to forget that he's still only 24. Lauer looking like a potential stud lefty starter at only 26 makes this an easy Brewers win. Davies was decent in his one season as a Padre, and was then used as basically a throw-in for the Darvish salary dump trade. He's now getting close to washing out of the league.

  16. The biggest issue for me continues to be that the ads populate at a different rate than the rest of the site. It makes clicking on topics and scrolling pretty tough. The issue isn't nearly as bad on Twins Daily, which tells me there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I hope you can fix things here, Brock.
  17. I so hope this happens, simply to watch the majority of Packers Twitter (i.e. morons) lose their collective minds.
  18. I doubt that the Brewers are going to want to start the arby clocks on any of their true prospects unless those guys were going to play a substantial role.

  22. If any of these guys get a shot (discounting injury), my guess is Dahl. The Brewers love to give LHH outfielders who have had some MLB success a trial run, and if Renfroe doesn't start hitting, Dahl is an easy swap against right-handers. He's a solid defender in the corners, with the capability of playing CF in a pinch. He could also see some time at DH.
