  1. You are nitpicking how I use the word trash while someone else openly wishes Chacin would have been hurt for an extended period of time instead...you guys got the wrong priorities. You are right ... what a horrible thing to say, even on a fan message board. I remember seeing it last night and just shaking my head. Comments like that have been par for the course around here lately. But two wrongs don't make a right, either. I'm not a fan of the pitching depth they have available to them, and if they use Woodruff's spot to call up one of their underwhelming AAAA relievers (Barnes, Williams, Petricka, Wilson, Hart), I'm going to be disappointed. But calling them trash is probably a little over the top.
  2. At least I can understand wanting to upgrade from Arcia. His offense has been better than last year, but it still isn't good. And they aren't even playing him, so something is obviously up there. It sucks, because he's an uber-talented, home-grown 24-year-old kid who has shown elite defensive abilities and solid offensive potential. He's the type of athlete you build around, not jettison. I do understand if their patience with him is wearing thin, though. If they are going to upgrade from Arcia (who still has considerable upside), I sure as heck hope that they target someone better than Galvis, who as Brew4u said, is basically an older, less talented version of Arcia. Your insistence on upgrading from Gamel continues to be much more in the ridiculous category, though, IMO.
  3. Head scratcher. Galvis is basically Arcia but almost 30. At least Arcia still has a fighting chance to be good. Because DIFFERENT!!! Because players not playing for the Brewers are automatically better because they are not playing for the Brewers!
  4. The easy move would be to put Houser back in the rotation, as he was looking better there before being shifted back to the pen. That is going to damage the pen, though. I think I'd rather take a chance on catching lightning in a bottle with someone like Supak.
  5. I hope you do too. Since you’ve been ******** about Saladino a lot I would suggest you send him a nice home cooked apple pie or maybe stand outside his window with a boom box and serenade him and ask for forgiveness You gotta be thinking of someone else. I haven't been bashing Saladino.
  6. Yeah! Now THAT was a satisfying win! I hope all you guys who gave up on this game either after the lineup was posted or after Woody gave up a few early runs realizes that this is why they play the games.
  7. I like that Shaw is hitting better. I don't trust that it is seemingly in an environment where everyone hits, though. San Antonio isn't known for above average park effects is it? I didn't think it was as bad as Colorado Springs, but the offensive numbers that team is putting up seems to defy that logic. Those guys have raked all year. A lot of AAAA types who really shouldn't be doing it, too.
  8. Pretty good considering the pathetic manager not understanding the importance of the game by running out an all time Sunday lineup then having to rely on garbage relievers for multiple innings after our All Star starter left early with an injury. I think you pretty much nailed it ... well, I would have used more emphasis on the horrible decision to start Saladino in LF today, but still, bravo
  9. Because our understanding of rest as a preventative measure has evolved over time. Yes, hello back tightness. If Grisham CONTINUES to rake, the brewers should consider optioning Gamel, rostering Grisham and calling him up, to give more rest to Braun, Cain even Yelich, without losing much if any offense. He’d get plenty of AB’s, and be playoff eligible. Ben Gamel is not going anywhere. I know you obviously don't like him, but he has done nothing to show that a guy with all of 35 games in AAA deserves a spot over him.
  10. I don't know what to think. In my opinion, it's disappointing that fans are willing to give up on a game so early. But that's just me.
  11. LOL ... it sure is a good thing that they are actually going to play a game today then. Maybe this team can pull one out despite their pathetic manager.
  12. If Burnes' value is destroyed, why would you deal him?
  13. According to that trade values website, that offer is light, FWIW. And I agree with nate. Basically creating two new holes to obtain a modest at best upgrade going from Davies to Thor doesn't work in my mind if the goal is to compete this year. Syndergaard & Lugo for Arcia, Burnes, Davies, Lutz and Peralta is awfully close...Done deal if I'm in charge. If you do that, you better hope Thor stays healthy, because you are destroying the team's starting pitching depth.
  14. Like I said ... perhaps he found something. It's more likely that he didn't. There are just too many guys on that San Antonio team hitting well for me to take any of those stats seriously. There is a huge difference between Frietas and Hiura and even Grisham. There is more to the story than AAA stats. I think Frietas is a nice depth piece to have, but that's really it. He's a 31-year old career minor leaguer.
  15. AAA#’s Salad > .288 .375 Spang > .317 .385 Freitas > .361 .442 Grisham > .353 .426 Didn’t show home runs and ops because of the juiced ball. Huge difference statistically between the 2 sets of players. Grisham and Freitas also don’t K and walk a lot. Freitas had about as many ab’s last year in his mlb trial with Seattle when he hit .221 as Pina has this year hitting under .200. And this is Freitas’s second AAA year in a row raking. He’s obviously found his hitting stroke, aka Max Muncy, and I’m assuming will be our starting catcher next year. Good job unearthing this guy by our GM. Freitas is the definition of proving my point. Could have have found something and be a upper end offensive MLB catcher? I suppose it's possible, but sure as heck isn't likely. I would assume that if Grandal isn't resigned, both Pina and Nottingham would remain ahead of Freitas on the depth chart, just as they are now.
  16. Why does everyone hate Davies? Leake has absolutely not been better or more reliable than Davies this year... I guess I wouldn’t mind this deal but I agree with others that I sort of doubt our proposed package gets it done. Leake is not a Brewer. Therefore he must be better.
