  1. But Adames is a solid to + defender at SS as well.
  2. In the end, does it really matter if Turang doesn't provide 3B-type power if you are getting it from Adames at SS and Urias at 2B? It isn't set in stone that 3B has to be a power position. Cirillo certainly wasn't a huge source of power, and is one of the best 3B in Brewers history.
  3. I don't think Tellez is a terrible 1B, and supposedly Singleton is actually pretty good over there.
  4. Starting to be too much smoke now for a fire not to break out. With the news this morning of other teams being interested, I imagine this gets done by the time the Winter Meetings start.
  5. And water is wet. Contreras to the Cards was about the easiest free agent match you could make this offseason. I'd be very surprised if he doesn't follow in Yadi's douche footsteps.
  6. Devanney will be 26 in April. That's probably another big reason he was left unprotected.
  7. Cousins is gonna implode at some point. Dude just isn't it.
  8. It would be just my luck that they'll jettison a guy I hate watching hit (Hiura) only to replace him with someone who is basically the LHH version of Hiura. At least Gallo is a quality defender, so he has that going for him.
  9. I certainly understand the pessimism after the underwhelming season this past summer, but there are still plenty of reasons to be optimistic about that ballclub. I very much expect Arnold to make a move that most would categorize as "big" in at attempt to start putting his stamp on the team and drive excitement (i.e. ticket sales). Plus I have to think that Mark A. and the front office know that with the starting pitching they have, they have an opportunity to make some noise should they secure a playoff berth. If they simply sit on what they have, and run basically the same team out there (sans Renfroe), I'm going to be disappointed.
  10. Perhaps. But I think perception in this case may be a little skewed by the lack of quality 3B prospects in our system over the years. Jace Peterson types aren't typically difficult to find, either.
  11. Is losing a guy who's ceiling is probably as a utility infielder really that big of a deal? Yeah, I get that the Brewers don't really have much as far as 3B prospects in the system, but having a guy like Devanney in the system in 2023 really isn't going to change that.
  12. In Barry's defense, he didn't miss 20 tackles in that game.
  13. Hiura is an enigma. He's a terrible fielding right-handed hitter who oddly and frustratingly can't touch lefty pitching. IMO this team would be better off dealing him and then finding a player who actually compliments Tellez's skillset, not one who poorly mimics it. They need a RHH 1B/DH type who has a clue against lefties. I'd be extremely surprised if he's back.

  15. In the past in this sort of situation (2012 and 2014) they turned to Alvarez. He's certainly getting up there at 75 years old now, but it wouldn't surprise me to see the codger dusted off as a figurehead of sorts for one interim game.
  16. Three straight 13-win seasons. The chance might be below 0%
  17. He simply said the quiet part out loud. What did he say that wasn't 100% true? Like I said earlier, god forbid a player show so interest in winning and building a World Series-contending ballclub, rather than just worry about collecting a paycheck. I personally wish more players would speak up in this manner.

  19. I don't think Hiura would be a surprise at all. A divorce is probably in both parties' best interests.

  21. Odd. I figured they'd hang onto him. I think I'm just about done trying to figure out what they team is going to do personnel wise. I consistently think zig, and they zag.
  22. Actual statistics beg to differ. I mean, yeah, if Lauer were pitching for the Dodgers, he'd probably be their 4th starter. But that isn't the case typically. I'd venture to say that Lauer's numbers stack up favorably against most team's #3 guy, if not their #2. 20 years ago Eric Lauer would have been the Brewers ace.
