  1. Welp, it's getting late now. The bats gotta wake up. Offense has been pretty dang pathetic so far tonight. Bullpen has done yeoman's work yet again to keep it close.
  2. I can't believe Dan Jennings has a 3.16 ERA. It seems like he's been slapped around a lot this year. He has to have let a lot of inherited runners score.
  3. Geez, it's funny with some guys you can predict with over 90% certainty what the outcome would be. I could have told you beyond the shadow of a doubt that Broxton would strike out on a pitch out of the strike zone. What's the point of have 700 guys up if you are going to give Broxton and Saladino key at-bats?
  4. jinx amazing we just posted almost the exact same thing at the exact same time. Please Broxton prove us both wrong! Edit: Nope
  5. Kinda wish they would have just moved Yelich to CF, and inserted Braun or Santana in the game. Not a lot of faith in Broxton's offense.
  6. Sal Romano sucks. The Brewers offense is worse tonight. No life at all ... no patience ... a ton of horrible swings at balls out of the strike zone.
  7. Well, they likely aren't going to win out. But with the Pirates this weekend, followed by the Cardinals, a sweep would sure be nice against the lowly Reds.
  8. Offense is flat tonight. They need to rip into this bullpen.
  9. Found it! viewtopic.php?f=63&t=37304&hilit=Wild+Card
  10. I feel like a thread very close to this one already exists ... or perhaps I am just having weird deja vu.
  11. Is the fact that the Mallards play there a deterrent for the city? Do they think they could support two baseball teams? No, they would just take out the Mallards...simple. The deterrent is they have no good reason to put their team there. It would just eat into their own ticket sales. How fast do we need guys to get to the MLB squad from AAA? When has it ever been a problem? I also don't think Madison could support AAA baseball. Their 6,300 average attendance is incredible for the NWL, but compared to the AAA teams that would put them pretty darn close to last. They get those numbers from prime time summer baseball. Their April/May attendance would be a sad story like pushing that number way down. Maybe the attraction of better talent helps that a bit, but I bet the prices are higher for everything when it comes to AAA. The A-ball team is already in Wisconsin...that is the kind of league they would excel in. Maybe A+ or AA is a possibility, but no league is even remotely close to us. Isn't comparing the quality of baseball you are going to get at AAA to NWL kind of comparing apples and oranges? I am by no means a NWL expert, but I can't imagine the quality is any better than you are going to see at Class A.
  12. Yep. Keston will be lucky to see Milwaukee at all next year I think. He really tailed off in AA the last month. I wonder if the grind just got to him?
  13. I don't think there's any way Perez doesn't make the postseason roster. Counsell loves him some Hernan. Plus he's good defensively at 2B, 3B and the corner OF, and also adequate at SS and CF. That has a lot of value when you lose all the expanded roster depth.
  14. As long as they graduate talent to the Brewers over the next couple years and improve their facilities, they can call themselves the San Antonio Banderases and have Zorro as a mascot for all I care.
  15. With the Carpenter slipping a lot and the Dbacks looking like they will miss the playoffs I get the feeling it is Yelich vs Baez. Yelich has a better offensive profile. Baez plays a more premium position. Should be interesting. Will likely come down to which guy puts the team on his back these last two weeks. Both off to good starts last night.
  16. That seems harsh. King is a guy that battled injury in college, missing games every year except his senior year. I think I'm willing to give the guy a little more than one season and two games before calling him a bust, though.
  17. Both the Cardinals and Cubs won last night, as did the Dodgers. As it is looking more and more like the Brewers are going to get the top Wild Card spot, it looks like a race between the Rockies and the Cardinals to grab that #2 spot. While I'd love to end the Cardinals season, I think I like the matchup with the Rockies a little better in a one-game playoff. I'm still holding out hope that the Brewers can catch the Cubs, but the math is getting tougher with each unfortunate Cub win. C'mon DBacks ... help a brother out!
  18. The only thing I saw was one poster in an IGT call him overrated. I think it was immediately after he bounced into his second double play of the game. Perhaps misguided, but somewhat understandable.
  19. I begrudgingly am beginning to agree. If the Brewers want to catch them, they may have to come close to winning out.
  20. I realize Hendricks is a good pitcher, but one hit? This is looking like yet another low-scoring game the Cubs are going to escape with.
  21. Two big games with playoff implications going on in the NL right now, and MLB Network where I am is showing Giants/Padres? Who could honestly care about that game?
  22. I think Woodruff is a prime candidate to have a Jimmy Nelson type leap forward at some point down the road in his development. The biggest question is whether the Brewers will be in a position to be patient enough for it to payoff as a solid future starter. It took Jimmy a couple years to harness his command. Woodruff is a very similar type pitcher. t wouldn't surprise me to see him take a big leap forward next year. I've been harping for awhile that this team doesn't have an ace-type, but they are certainly flush with young pitching talent. Perhaps one of those guys can evolve into that ace.
  23. Sweet! Nice, easy win tonight. Miley pitched great, and the offense turned it on. Yelich ... what more can you say? Also, Woodruff with a terrific bullpen saving outing.
  24. I think if the final pitcher goes three innings, it doesn't matter how big the lead is.
  25. Pretty cool that they are leaving Woodruff out there for the save. Hope he can pitch a clean inning. Also nice that Hader could possibly come back on Wednesday if needed.
