  1. Being able to bring up all those guys for roster expansion is a huge benefit for a team like the Brewers who typically don't get long starts. It's also meant no one has been overused.
  2. Burnes Guerra Woodruff Soria Peralta Williams Literally anyone else Barnes
  3. There was a large contingent ready to concede the division to the Brewers after they took 2 of 3 last time around. Cubs Twitter was a train wreck after that series.
  4. Wow, that's the ultimate "let's got home for the year" lineup. Watch them beat the Cubs 8-1 tonight now That line-up does us no favors...yikes. The DBacks "Who?" lineup hung 4 on Hamels in the 1st. Because baseball
  5. Who also has been really good lately, also in a very small sample, is Junior Guerra. Is he a reliever, or was he tired and just needed to rest his arm a bit? I think he was tired as he was pretty good up until the middle of August. Getting essentially almost two weeks off early in September (except for one out against the Cubs) seems to have helped. Maybe he's a swingman, but I'm not giving up on him yet. I don't know where he fits with all the starters coming back next year, but he was this team's best starter for a pretty good size stretch of this season. It is good to know, though, that if he isn't slotted into the rotation to start the year, he has the stuff to be a potentially dominant multi-inning reliever.
  6. Gosh I love this pen right now. So many live arms. Gonna be kind of a bummer to have to go back to a 25-man squad for the playoffs.
  7. I'm really starting to love Guerra out of the pen. I wonder if that's his ultimate destination next year? As a middle/late 1-2 inning guy, his stuff would definitely play.
  8. Good Corey Knebel is so fun to watch. That 98-99 mph fastball mixed with that wicked curve is dynamite.
  9. Albers stretching out in the pen. Nice to see that he's still alive.
  10. The guy is such a terrific athlete. All the talent in the world. I hope he comes back next year ready to rock. Heck, he still has time this year for hero ball.
  11. Wow, great quick inning, and only at 90 pitches. I let him come out for the 7th, unless you have guys like Knebel that need work. I wonder if they score a few more if they might grab Albers out of witness protection?
  12. Well this Gio start is pretty dang encouraging so far. He isn't dominating by any means, but he's hitting his spots and making big pitches when he needs them. Command looks pretty good tonight. At 78 pitches through 5. I wonder if this will be his last frame?
  13. This team needs other guys besides Cain and Yelich to get hot. This is a great start from Aguilar tonight.
  14. Wow, that's the ultimate "let's got home for the year" lineup. Watch them beat the Cubs 8-1 tonight now That line-up does us no favors...yikes. Well, their non-Sunday lineup wasn't really doing the Brewers any favors either, so ...

  16. That is probably the best lineup they could have constructed, considering who is out tonight. Nice to see Shaw is back in there ... they can't afford to lose his bat. Hopefully Cain is back in the lineup against the Pirates on Friday.
  17. - Nice of the Braves to at least salvage one from the Cardinals. I was hoping the Braves would do better, but a game is better than nothing. Gonna be pulling hard for the Giants this weekend. They have actually been ok lately. - Gonna be pulling for the DBacks tonight as well, but it appears that they have pretty much checked out for the season. Totally uninspired performance from a team that had long odds, but was still technically alive heading into Monday. Cubs still have the White Sox this weekend, four against the Pirates, and three with the Cards to end the year, so if they manage to clinch the division before that Card series, they earned it. - At this point, we probably want the Rockies to lose as much as possible, simply as a stress relief. Dodgers end the year with the Padres, DBacks and Giants, so on paper that is pretty easy. Rockies end with the DBacks, four against the Phillies, who are playing pretty well, and three against the Nationals.
  18. Braves beat the Cardinals 7-3. Win tonight, and watch the Dodgers sweep the Rockies, and there's some nice breathing room.
  19. Spot on! If the Cardinals lose today, it would make it pretty difficult for the Brewers not to have a playoff spot. But why should we settle for backing into the #2 seed? This team has shown this year that, when focused, they are a top 2 or 3 team in the NL. If they are forced to go on the road for a play-in game, or completely fall apart and not make it entirely, you bet this fan base is gonna be upset, and rightfully so. This team has been neck and neck with the Dodgers and Cubs this year record wise, and to scuttle that now while those teams close out the year on a tear would be extremely frustrating. You play all these games in the regular season to get to the point where the Brewers are at, where their destiny is right in front of them.
  20. I'd go through the weekend before saying the division is out of reach. If the Brewers could go into the final Detroit series within 3 games, there is very much a possibility that the Cardinals will need to beat the Cubs in their series to secure the #2 Wild Card. There is still a path, but it's getting narrower every day.
  21. Exactly. I know we're all predetermined to be pessimists with how the Brewers have been the last 30ish years, plus with many of us being Bucks fans too, but this is just the nature of baseball. We were the hottest team in the league like 5 days ago but now you lose a few close games and they're done. Would really like the W tonight just due to the mathematical advantage it gives, not out of any kind of grand indictment on how the team is, clutchness, choking, etc. That is certainly part of it. Also, at least for me, I had a plan mapped out last week how this team would grab the division title. That, of course, included playing well or even sweeping the Pirates and Reds, while the Cubs faltered against the Reds and DBacks. No matter how optimistic or unrealistic a plan is, when it doesn't go as planned, it is very easy to get a little miffed and bummed. I honestly 100% felt that this team was in the driver's seat for the division crown, but this tough little stretch, combined with the Cubs suddenly getting improbably hot, has changed that.
  22. This just sets him up to play a key role in the Cardinals' 2020 playoff push. Seriously, though, this does suck for the young man. Just could never get healthy. It's a bummer to lose a job/livelihood this way.
  23. New to us or brand spanking new? If the City of San Antonio decides to build a stadium, the Texas Rangers will just poach our spot anyways and it would be back to the musical chairs. The Rangers are locked into Nashville through 2022.
  24. LOL, I've been one of this team's biggest supporters all year, and have gotten into countless snippy arguments with the more pessimistic (or realistic) portion of this board's membership. Yes, things like this do happen all the time. And they happen to the Brewers seemingly often. Recency bias and and overdeveloped urge to complain? Did you honestly just start cheering for this team or something? This is pretty much par for the course for the Brewers.
  25. I’ll guess neither. There was no leak that the brewers or the Elmore group asked for a change in affiliation as that has happened in all other affiliation changes. It sounds as if the brewers visited the site last weekend and was satisfied with the proposed changes and decided to renew the affiliation. Also missed in the news yesterday, Stearns did confirm that the brewers rookie ball team will be in Colorado Springs, which I think is a good move, as they will have by far the best facilities in the league, and are far enough away from Milwaukee where I wouldn’t worry about the elevation. If anything, having a rookie ball club in Colorado Springs is going to inflate some offensive numbers, which in turn will likely inflate some prospect rankings on national lists. If that sort of thing is relevant at all.
