  1. Man Aguilar has gone ice cold. He hammers that strike 3 pitch a couple weeks ago.
  2. He's been fine. No complaints here. Exactly as advertised as a solid #3-4. Unfortunately, the whole rotation is solid #3-4's. Personally, I'm kinda sick of seeing the Brewers only connected to pitching. Pitching isn't the problem. Gotta get at least one bat. If they are truly waiting for Dozier to get a curtain call from the Twins fan base, I’ll be pretty ticked. It sucks, but I kinda get it. That guy is pre-PED Braun popular in Minny.

  4. Chacin? He's been better than expected. Solid innings eater. Not a difference maker.
  5. Harvey doesn't exactly put my mind at ease, but I do like him better than Happ or Hamels. I can't imagine he's going to cost a ton. I mean, the Reds have to owe us some past considerations for handing Gennett to them on a platter, right?
  6. In Spring Training, I strongly questioned why this team had done nothing to acquire a starting pitcher. We are over half way through the season, and I still have that question.
  7. Did anyone honestly think he was an excellent pickup? I remember a lot of "blahs" and "NOOOOOO's" when they signed him.
  8. Wade Miley is reverting into Wade Miley. No one saw this coming!
  9. Brad Ford is having a very bad last couple weeks.
  10. The Brewers acquired Anthony Swarzak from the WhiteSox on July 26, 2017. The Brewers acquired Joakim Soria from the WhiteSox on July 26, 2018. Apparently July 26 is "Trade For an Overachieving Reliever" Day!
  11. Brewers really have no Drury equivalent value wise. Arcia probably has more value, and Villar less value. McKinney and Stokes are probably pretty close valuewise. Would you guys be comfortable trading Arcia and Stokes for Happ? Absolutely no chance, but I also don't think Arcia and Drury are anywhere close in value. I think Villar is a way closer comp. Drury would probably be starting at 2B right now for the Brewers, no questions asked. That's why I said initially the Brewers don't really have an equivalent value wise. It probably truly does fall in between Arcia and Villar. A Villar/Stokes package would probably be easier to stomach for Happ, but I'm not sure I'd do that, either.
  12. Hamels is about the only potential "upgrade" that the Cubs can expect. Crappy, and on a huge expiring contract. You are the only one that apparently wants him on the Brewers, so there is really no punch to be beaten.
  13. Two top 10 organizational prospects plus more? No thanks. For a starting pitcher controllable though 2019, that's about what I'd expect the cost to be.
  14. Bingo. Winning with 10 million other reasons to stay. It's all about the money. If we win the World Series and his agent tells him his FA market should be about 2 years, 25M, he'll walk. I'd be ok with that. In fact, that would be pretty great.
  15. I agree. To me, "bust" means a high draft pick that amounts to no value whatsoever. Brewers have had plenty of those over the years. Clint Coulter is on his way there currently. Is it disappointing that Medieros is never going to be that dominant lefty starter in the Brewers' rotation? Yeah, maybe. But calling him a bust because he's never going to do that is perhaps the wrong word to use.
  16. Well, Soria would be the guy they need to protect, so it's a wash.

  18. Good. Personally, I don't mind being the bridesmaid in this one.
  19. Jett Bandy is still in the Brewers' system. Brewers win the trade!
  20. I'd argue that today's deal makes him the exact opposite of a bust. Picking him ultimately made the MLB team better, which is all you want out of a draft pick. Now, if you want to see a bust, go look at Clint Coulter's numbers.
  21. That doesn't surprise me. It also does not make me unhappy. Hopefully the Brewers drove up the price on the Yankees a bit.
  22. When you look up the term "lottery ticket" in the "Big Baseball Acquisition Encyclopedia", a photo of Wilber Perez shows up. He's the quintessential "lottery ticket" arm. Brewers just gotta home he's more Carlos Herrera than Freddy Peralta.
  23. I would be shocked if we didn't grab someone, and when the dust settles I suspect Saladino will be the primary backup at SS/2b with Miller and possibly Villar or Perez gone. I wouldn't be shocked at all. We saw this play out very similarly last trade deadline and after the Yelich/Cain acquisitions. DS isn't going to overpay for anyone under any circumstances. We might get Swarzak/Walker level moves for extra rule 5 pieces but the longer this goes the more likely that there isn't a major acquisition. I would consider Swarzak a major acquisition last year. He was terrific last year, and solidified the pen. Would you consider todays Soria deal a major acquisition? I'd say the price was pretty substantial, and he was probably right up there with Britton and Familia on the list of the top relievers available.
  24. Probably Tyrone Taylor as well.
