  1. Harvey can still be acquired if needed. Cost is not going to be significant. Question is whether he is an upgrade. My personal feeling is no.
  2. One more year of arbitration next year. Two more, free agent after 2020 season If this is true, even better! Also make Schoop great trade bait if Hiura comes quick.
  3. Guess Villar gets his change of scenery. Not too upset about losing Ortiz ... he was way down the pecking order. Losing Carmona sucks ... lots of tools.
  4. Did not see this one coming. Guess the plan is just to hope our starters get through 5, hand it to the awesome pen, and hope we smash other teams into oblivion. Should make things fun from here on out.
  5. Sounds like it happened.
  6. Schoop has played a little SS in the past. Has Clancy replaced Counsell as the team's manager? LOL
  7. That's ... odd. I mean I love bats, but the team's move for Moose, and having Hiura in the pipeline, makes this perplexing.
  8. Fake Rosenthal account. Haudricourt was duped.
  9. That is my prediction as well. I think they come away with either Archer or Gausman. Price is going to be steep on both, though.
  10. Rumors flying that the Orioles are close to another deal. Gausman???
  11. If they wait on Gray, it is likely a team like the Pirates will throw a waiver claim in on him to block the move. Cubs too if the Brewers are ahead at the time.
  12. How does it work GM? My opinion is that the Marlins might be gun shy dealing with the Brewers so soon after a trade with not the best results on 3 of the 4 prospects (yet).... human nature. If you would have said "might" in your original post, it would make more sense. But you didn't, and your post sounded definitive. And it brought the response that it did because GMs don't operate that way. The only time to see anything like that happen is if a team pulls something shady, like what Alderson did with the Mets in the Gomez deal a few years ago.
  13. So are the dang Nationals selling or not?
  14. I know Gio isn't a reliever, but if the Nats are going for it, I can't see him getting traded. In fact, I bet they make a push for Realmuto today if this is the case.
  15. Barf. I mean why? What's the point? Gio > Wade Miley And not close. Right? Certainly has been more effective in recent seasons. Of the rentals out there, he might be the best one left. But that isn't saying much. I doubt he takes Miley's rotation spot, though. Wouldn't surprise me if they shifted Peralta to the pen. Guess I was hoping for a little more splash. Gio isn't the "needle mover" Stearns spoke of a couple weeks ago. Of course, that was pre Suter injury.
  16. Barf. I mean why? What's the point? We have 4 Gio Gonzalezes already.
  17. Hey no stealing my ideas! [sarcasm]We both said it - we should tweet it and it will become true! Or a based on a "source" rumor![/sarcasm] I seriously was working on something else, and had my post half done sitting open for 10 minutes. Totally freaky how close they are.
  18. Brewers make 2 (!!!) big trades today: 1. Send a package of prospects headlined by Hiura to Miami for Realmuto. 2. Send a package of players and prospects, headlined by Shaw and Peralta, to Baltimore for Schoop, Gausman and 3B prospect Ryan Mountcastle. Schoop effectively negates losing Hiura as the 2B for the next few seasons. Gausman becomes a TOR starter. Mountcastle and Erceg battle it out for the "3B of the future (and present)" moniker. These won't happen, but hey, you said bold. Edit: Wow YelichPosse, our bold predictions are almost freakily lockstep.
  19. The Mets are also going to throw in free Brewer season tickets for 2019 to all Brewerfan.net posters? That's about the only thing they could surprise me as far as how cheap Harvey should be. Especially since Harvey is now Red!
  20. Well I was really wondering why everyone thinks Shaw will be traded. But when I look at the Twinkies situation, I could actually see them wanting Shaw (I don't know much about Sano). So Gibson and Dozier for Shaw and Ortiz? They get three controllable years of Shaw. That last sentence is why it makes no sense to me for them to trade away Shaw. There is no replacement at 3B for 2019 on the roster, unless the mutual option for Moose is picked up which is highly unlikely (if he performs well, he will decline; if he doesn't, the Brewers will buy him out). If Erceg was putting up better numbers in Biloxi, I'd be more at ease with it. He hasn't been great, though, and beyond him, the cupboard is pretty bare at 3B. I'd hate to take a step back and have to depend on the Hernan Perez's and Brad Miller's of the world at the hot corner.
  21. No, it's simply a team that's had a hot streak, and is within striking distance of the Wild Card. I expect the Pirates to revert to the mean as a sub .500 team, or close to that level.
  22. I think they find a way to grab a starting pitcher today. I'd be very surprised if they didn't. My hope would be for one of the younger controllable guys over one of the "meh" rentals. A solid catcher would be nice, too, but the pickings are pretty slim unless they want to go crazy on Realmuto. Harper would be fun, and he would be a cash cow for the team through the end of the season. Hard to see that happening. It would make one heck of a "dream team" lineup , though. I DO NOT want this to happen, but a little voice in the back of my head keeps indicating that Travis Shaw may not be a Brewer when the dust settles this afternoon. I hope that voice is an idiot.
