  1. How in the world is that a botched first rounder? He had tons of talent, was putting it together this year, and they leveraged that into a reliever with a ton of value and future control. I don't know if you understand how this works.
  2. This. If losing Medieros for a light-out reliever makes you mad, I imagine the next few days are gonna suck for you.
  3. I liked Medieros, but you have to give talent to get it. Soria has been lights-out this season, and is controllable next year (albeit on a pretty hefty option). I guess they are committed to bullpenning. Will be interesting to see if they add to the rotation. This isn't quite an all-in move, but it is bigger than the Swarzak move last year in my estimation.
  4. Our depth is: Woodruff, Wilkerson, Burnes, Houser, M.Diplan, Asher, L.Ortiz, T.Supak, Derby, Z.Brown (assuming injury is minor) The SP has taken a hit but it has never been this deep that I can remember. Still, I think Stearns will get a rental as we should not rely on kids in a playoff run. In 2018, that depth ends at Wilkerson. Burnes is not starting this year. Maybe Houser gets a shot but none of those other guys will be making a start in Milwaukee this year. I could see Diplan making a spot start if they get desperate. He is already on the 40-man and has been pitching well at Biloxi. Asher is on the 40-man as well, although that is not inspiring at all. I believe that Ortiz, Supak and Derby would all need to be added to the 40-man to avoid the possibility of losing them in the Rule 5 draft, so any of those guys could get the call if needed. I think I saw yesterday that Brown is probably down 4-6 weeks, plus he isn't on the 40-man, so I can't imagine he's an option.
  5. If Rodgers is healthy, this is a playoff team. If not, they are a 4-5 win team. He makes that much of a difference. Besides cheering for the Packers this year, we also get the added bonus of cheering for whoever is playing the Saints this year. They are one Brees injury from being a 4-win team, and that 1st round draft pick could be a Top 10 one as well. I would never cheer for an injury, but Brees is pretty dang old now, and the law of averages eventually catches up with those guys.
  6. I agree. I'd rather they target a guy with additional control beyond this year if they are going to give up good prospects, though. Gray, Wheeler, Stroman, Archer, Fulmer, Gibson and Gausman come to mind. Obviously deGrom, but I doubt that is going to happen. I'd love to see them pry Aaron Sanchez away from the Blue Jays. Genuine TOR stuff if he can stay healthy. The fact that the Yankees seem enamored with Happ scares me. I have a feeling they are going to overpay for him, and I don't want the Brewers anywhere near a 35-year-old #3-4 starter who is only going to be here a few months if it's going to cost a Top 10 prospect.
  7. I agree ... Dozier is loved in Minnesota. Great team guy and a leader. It makes perfect sense that they'd want to give him a home send-off.
  8. My prediction is they trade for Dozier to play 2B, and Arcia comes back up to play SS. Saladino can slide into a utility role. Miller can slide into oblivion for all I care. He's horrible.
  9. Anderson, Chacin, Guerra and even Miley all profile as "solid #3 guys" this year. I think I'd rather give starts to Woodruff than trade a good asset for Happ.
  10. I like Dozier better than Escobar, but either one would be an upgrade.
  11. There is no way the Cubs would be able to trade from someone like Stroman without having to poach from their MLB squad. They have next to nothing in their farm system. In fact, I'd argue that the top 15 prospects on the Brewer list are better than anything the Cubs have.
  12. With the Yankee prospect names being thrown around to acquire Happ, I shudder to think what would be coming from the Brewers' end. Perhaps Happ is an upgrade from what we currently have in the rotation, but I think the team can do better.
  13. At this point, they are one Wade Miley hangnail away from having no other choice.
  14. Judging from your other recent posts, I can't imagine anyone moving your needle.
  15. That's why I would trade for Realmuto even though it would involve Keston. He's one of the best players in the game at the toughest position to find talent, and he's under control for a couple more years. So trade our 2B of the very near future to fill a glaring hole... Then, next year, we will need a 2B, what do we do then? Trade a valuable piece to fill a hole, then leave another hole to be filled, I'm not feelin' it. If Huira was a player that was this close, and was only depth at that position, or blocked by a stud, then maybe, but as it is now, we would still need a 2B. I would not, no way, no how, trade Huira for a catcher, no matter who they are. I get what you're saying, but filling a hole at 2B is probably much easier than filling a hole at C. Just look at who the Brewers have been able to pull off the scrap heap. Guys like Miller and Saladino can be had for next to nothing, while others like Hager and Moore are in the minors waiting for an opportunity. Not near the upside of Hiura, but no one really knows what Hiura would provide next year either.
  16. Domingo Santana pulled after two ABs. Granted, they were two Ks, but that's just Domingo being Domingo.
  17. 3-team deal - Brewers Get Gray, Yankees get Happ, Blue Jays get Santana. I don't think I'd mind that.
  18. Oh man ... Domingo for Happ would be such a blah trade. Suter gets hurt, so we replace him with a Suter clone?
  19. Domingo Santana was apparently pulled after two ABs today. Hmm ... He'd be a fit with the Twins. Could be be part of a package for Dozier and Gibson? Maybe Santana and someone like Houser?
  20. LOL, of course the offense wakes up now ... in the 9th inning .... of a 7-0 game. Come on, we know they have a limited number of runs in them. Don't waste them here!
  21. Heroic effort by Lopez tossing 3 innings of nearly spotless relief. And he'll be rewarded with a plane ticket to Colorado Springs
  22. I know that is in blue, but I don't know why Lopez isn't starting in AAA. He's got good stuff and a full arsenal of pitches.
  23. Appears Happ is close to being moved. I hope it is not to Milwaukee, unless they are getting him super cheap.
