  1. I would hope Brewer fans would be able to identify the upside and ceiling of the players they were acquiring, rather than the small sample of a few months of one season. At the end of the day, fans don't make moves, GMs do. I for one would be very excited to pick up a couple prospects of Phillips's and Ortiz's pedigree. I disagree that the offers weren't close, too. The only real prospect was Diaz, and scouting reports are not particularly high on him. I think Phillips has an equal if not high ceiling. Then you are comparing Ortiz to the poo poo platter of fringe prospects the Dodgers sent. I guess if a couple of guys make it, they did OK, but if Ortiz ascends to the mid to upper rotation starter that most scouting reports peg him as, that's much more valuable.
  2. Are you going to teach him to play the middle infield? Because he's not an improvement over Cain, Yelich, Thames or Aguilar. Horrible defense, hits in the .240s, has power. I think we have too many of those guys as it is.
  3. There are not many sellers this year and the available bats and arms are pretty pathetic. If I'm Stearns I go out and sell after watching the last 10 days. One or two trades are not going to fix the holes in the 2018 Brewers. I would definitely cash in on Guerra, Chacin, and Jefress at a minimum. If someone takes Lorenzo Cain I'm selling before the guy has negative trade value. If someone backs up the truck for Aguilar or Yelich I'm pulling the trigger. Wow, I guess some people just want to watch the world burn. Even the best teams go though rough stretches. The Brewers will right the ship and will be fine. Division winning fine? Maybe not, but I think they'll be in playoff contention at the end of September. Which is what we all wanted back in spring. Well, almost everyone, except maybe the poster above.
  4. Disagree on Woodruff, he has the ingredients to develop into a solid MLB mid-rotation starter, IMO. Agreed ... better stuff than most of the guys on this staff. Pitched well tonight for the most part. One solid hit on him, and they made it count.
  5. Villar hasn't made bonehead plays this year. Perez OBP .282 compared to Villar at .315 That's a huge difference for a struggling offense. Pretty sure his mind is already made up. Not even sure why I responded.
  6. Hernan's plate discipline is horrid. I will challenge your Villar assertion of "continuously boneheaded plays" as well. He's actually been playing smart ball both defensively and on the bases this year. Not real sure where you are getting that narrative from.
  7. Burnes was called up and hasn’t pitched since the Miami series Offensive call-up. This lineup needs a shot in the arm. Pitching hasn't been the issue for the most part.
  8. If only we had a 2B with slightly more range than Perez, who also hits better, and has more speed on the base paths..... I don't get what Villar needs to do to play more than Perez... Play for a different team. Unfortunately
  9. This is what happens when you depend on your bullpen night in and night out to keep you in close low-scoring ballgames. This offense needs to figure out how to score some runs real quick. Definitely need a shot in the arm from somewhere, whether its a call-up, trade ... something.
  10. Have the Brewers ever had a minor leaguer with a 30/30 season? If he keeps hitting like he is, I can't imagine he'll be in AA all that much longer. May be even positioning himself for a September call-up. Who woulda thought that at this time last year?
  11. You aren't the only one I'm guessing Phillips vs. Jansen will be a massive mismatch, but you never know. Well, Jansen against just about anyone is a mismatch. Dude is pretty dang good. But yeah, rough draw for Brettly if it happens.
  12. Me too. Pumping it in there high 90s with good movement. Perhaps Woodruff can provide what Barnes was supposed to.
  13. Other than one game with two bombs, Santana has been a slap hitter in Colorado Springs. Although even having a hitter who can hit singles would be nice right now, I'm not sure if he's the guy for the job.
  14. When a good pitcher doesn't perform well I tend to blame the pitcher or give credit to,the hitters. Not sure how CC could have known this was coming. Perhaps. I stand behind the assertion that Miley should have come out for the 7th though. Pitch count was in the 80s, and he was keeping a good lineup off balance all night. This team has plenty of short starts that are justified. Why take the ball from a pitcher who's rolling?
  15. Sure did disguise a lot of warts for awhile. OK Craig, please go get Williams now. Enough's enough
  16. CC can't win......if he leaves him,in and gives up the lead people *****.....pulls him 3rd time through the order coming back from an injury with a fully rested pen and people *****. Every decision is wrong Well, Williams is getting slapped around pretty good here, so ... biggest problem is this crap offense has left no room for error.
