  1. I was actually wondering if they might try to get Gibson and Dozier in a deal. Gibson is controllable through next season. Cost would be significantly higher, but he would shore up the rotation.
  2. The one bad start is a misnomer. He's had 4 good, if not great starts, and 3 not so good starts, not counting today.
  3. Thames with 3 Ks from the lead-off spot today. He's been ice cold since coming off the DL. Please someone explain to me how it continues to be a good idea to lead him off?
  4. Peralta made a start in Appleton over the All-Star break. He doesn't have much of an excuse for his performance today, other than he's extremely young and probably not ready for this stage quite yet.
  5. I wonder if Jorge Lopez is hiding in the bullpen, knowing full well that if he takes the mound today, he will likely be optioned following the game?
  6. Well, he's got a couple bad middle innings going now, too. All the griping about Suter's starts this season, and Peralta has been hyped as a savior. Peralta just isn't ready.
  7. His location has been all over the place. He's wild, and when he hits the plate, it's straight and right down the middle. With his stuff, he's not going to be able to get away with that. I like Freddy, and I think he has a bright future. He needs seasoning, though. Wow, the Brewers offense is just horrid. Making Roark look like Cy Young today.
  8. Wow, that is a terrific way to destroy your farm system.
  9. Hard to blame Peralta for the offense not being able to get anything going against a crap pitcher, though. Something has got to be shaken up. Trade ... benching ... something. I expected Saladino to level out as a bad hitter, but Brad Miller has been disappointing. He's been pretty horrible.
  10. Ugh ... Freddy needs to go to AAA. Unfortunately, we have no pitching depth right now, so we're stuck.
  11. So much for Peralta being our ace. He looks exactly like a 22-year old rookie starter should look - inconsistent. He's a fun arm to have in the system, but should not be depended on.
  12. I'd say there's a very good chance a starter is acquired from outside the organization, as they have shown no indication that Burnes is going back to starting this year. I'd love to see a non-rental, but at this point they probably just need a body that isn't going to get shelled. We also have Houser, who's been starting at Colorado Springs.
  13. Thames Cain Yelich Aguilar Shaw Saladino Miller Pina Peralta Yeesh, that 6-9 is bad. Dozier would look nice in this lineup.
  14. Apparently KC is saying Duffy isn't available. Which doesn't make a heck of a lot of sense.
  15. I was thinking Cody Ponce or even someone like Bubba Derby. I agree that I'd take Houser over Beeks. More upside there. Beeks just doesn't have the stuff to top out as anything more than a back of the rotation guy. He is a lefty, though, so he'll probably stick around awhile.
  16. Beeks is #15 in a system that isn't great. Profiles as a #5 starter/swing man. Already 25, so not a young prospect either. Personally I thought the Rays would do better that this for Eovaldi. I saw him as one of the better rental starters on the market.
  17. Brett Phillips takes the bullet so Peralta can return. Disappointing that he didn't get more of an opportunity to play following his break-out against the Pirates just before the break. Still, he needs to go to AAA and start making better contact, and cut down on the Ks.
  18. I'm not sure if I would give up Supak by himself for Gray. You're right ... no interest in helping the Yankees out. If they want out from under Gray and his contract, they aren't going to get a great return. My guess is the Gray talk is mostly speculation, though. Tough to see the Yankees and Brewers matching up in a deal, unless they trade for a starter, and just want to be rid of Gray.
  19. Woodruff/Nottingham/Ray would sting. If they would take Santana instead of Ray, I'd me more inclined to go that route. I doubt they would, though. Woodruff certainly didn't hurt his value with his outing on Monday. He was bringing it at 98 and hitting his spots.
  20. Oh man, no way. That would be handing a gift to the Yankees. That's the kind of package Gray would have fetched last year. Not this year.
  21. I'd take Sonny Gray, but I sure as heck wouldn't give up much for him. I personally don't think Drury is enough of an upgrade to bother, either.
  22. Considering both Jake Gatewood and Zach Brown went down with potential long-term injuries last night, I imagine even more teams are going to be asking for Ray in deals. Both those guys were prime trade candidates.
