  1. Woodruff is every bit the prospect Burnes and Peralta are, but he's a little further ahead in his development, and has ML experience, which seems to have dulled his shine a little bit here. It's not just you, Greenleaf, but several others have talked about him in trades, while saying Burnes and Peralta are off limits. As far as I am concerned, all three are potential starters for us, or currency for trades down the road to firm up trouble spots, such as 2B and maybe catcher.
  2. Would be pretty rare for a contending team to trade contributing ML pieces during the season. But this roster makeup is pretty rare as well, so who knows? Buckle up!
  3. He shouldn't start against the Cubs. Full stop. Prior to this year, he was a Cub-killer in the midst of a pennant race. Much depends on how good Miley may or may not be. In any case, Suter could still be a bullpen option. Depending on Wade Miley to be anything is a scary proposition. I know he was good in spring training, but he's still Wade Miley.
  4. He shouldn't start against the Cubs. Full stop. I really like Suter, but I agree. I'd rather see Woodruff take that start.
  5. I know what you mean. I'm not really looking forward to seeing Santana back in the lineup either.
  6. Don’t fight the depth. Embrace it. I'm starting to come around. It's been tough to give up my Nick Franklin security blanket, though.
  7. Well, that was a game the Brewers had no business winning. Feels good to steal one once in a while. That's what good teams can do.
  8. I hate to be "that guy", but Aguilar should be seeing more playing time. But so should Thames. And Braun. A good problem to have, and I guess the injuries have helped sort things out. I guess it's just weird having depth.
  9. Bumping this as Cole has been DFA'd. Worth a flyer? With the results the young pitchers in AAA are putting up, I don't know if it would be worth dedicating a 25-man spot to Cole. He does have a lot of talent, though, and Derek Johnson has proven in the past that he can get the most out of some guys.
  10. Agreed. He's been pretty incredible so far. Looks like a completely different pitcher from his time with the Rangers, and even when he first returned to the Brewers last year.
  11. Woodruff working on a 1-hitter though 5 for Colorado Springs. That Springs rotation has been impressive pretty much across the board. May be proving Stearns right, and me wrong as a result.
  12. Really? Villar has four steals on the year, and this was his first time caught. Realmuto is a good defensive catcher. Realmuto is not catching, but was not a bad decision to run, CS going to happen can't get em all. My bad. But isn't Holaday a good defender by default, considering he's a light-hitting back-up catcher?
  13. Really? Villar has four steals on the year, and this was his first time caught. Realmuto is a good defensive catcher.
  14. Exactly. On 1st with two down in a one-run game is the absolute perfect time to attempt a steal. You are going to get caught once in a while. But that's not gonna stop the Villar hate.
  15. There is nothing in Blanco's history that makes me want him on this team. He has no offensive upside. At all.
  16. I'll be randomly picking comments like these throughout the year as Chacin settles into a groove just to reemphasize David Stearns knows more than we do. Nothing against you ASAAD, you are juyst first. 6 shutout. That seems like a recipe for disaster. Calling out other posters with "I told you so" stuff isn't a brilliant idea. Also, all players, even bad ones, have good games. I'm going to grade these guys based on consistency. Chacin looked fine yesterday, but wiggled out of trouble. Don't forget he was also pitching against a AAA lineup.
  17. Beating the teams they should beat. There were plenty of times last year they failed to do that.
  18. I'm afraid Ollie Drake just bought himself a high leverage inning in the next week.
  19. Saladino's mustache would definitely be fun. He's a good defender. Other than the fact he bats right handed, though, he's Sogard.
  20. I would sure as heck hope Dubon is ahead of Saladino on the call-up pecking order.
  21. Dubon is hitting .327 with a couple bombs already. Not a bad guy to have waiting in the wings.
  22. If Arcia is gone for anything longer than a couple games, they have to call Dubon up and give him most of the time at SS. He's already on the 40-man, so it's an easy move.
  23. Hopefully it's just a sprained ankle, but he's still probably looking at a DL stint
