  1. That's the one I'd love to see. Probably gonna cost Frelick and a couple other high-end pieces though.
  2. Which IMO is more than what the Brewers need to put out there. I didn't have a lot of interest in throwing a reclamation project out there in a lineup that has already struggled at times to produce. He'll be a part-time player for the Dodgers, and won't have a ton of pressure on him in that stacked lineup.
  3. Clayton Beeter is a pretty high-end pitching prospect. He was the Dodgers comp balance pick last year (#66) and has legit top of the rotation stuff. Injury concerns could push him to the pen, but that is an awful lot to give up for a guy that the Yankees were probably going to have to look at DFA'ing soon had he not been dealt today.
  4. Looking at what others are going for ... yes. I mean, a couple solid but not spectacular guys from the Marlins just netted a top SS/3B prospect (and MLB Top 100 guy) from the Jays.
  5. Surprising that the Yankees are getting back a legit prospect here. Beeter is good, and was a Comp balance pick just last year. Probably similar value to the just-traded Antoine Kelly.
  6. They'll just replace him with Myers, or the Nats will send back money in the deal.
  7. You'll get Brandon Drury and you'll like it!
  8. Have to say that seeing Juan Soto, Trent Grisham, and Josh Hader on the same team now is going to have a little twinge of irony.
  9. I suspect they'll sign him to a huge deal. That is a team that hasn't shied away from spending recently.
  10. The best relief pitcher in baseball is dealt in a surprise move, and not only is it overshadowed by a much larger deal less than 24 hours later, it was overshadowed with a move by the same team! The Padres farm system is decimated now. If they don't drop substantially in the system strength ratings, it is proof of just how useless those ratings actually are.
  11. Hosmer. Wouldn't be surprised if he was dealt again today. He was a salary dump, and the Nats have no use for him.
  12. There is really no on-field difference between Phillips and Jonathan Davis. And Davis is the guy that everyone wants replaced.
  13. I'm just glad Soto isn't going to St. Louis. That would have given me a stomach ache.
  14. Quintana has entered the phase of his career where he is now frequently bouncing from team to team because he's close to being cooked. If he ends up being the biggest acquisition the Cardinals make at the deadline, that is a win for the Brewers. In fact, the mere fact that the Cardinals needed to go out and use assets to acquire a guy like Quintana, then hand him a valuable rotation spot, is pretty solid evidence that the Cardinals are not really positioned to make a huge run.
  15. A team that has no playoff aspirations this year, but has a need for a decent catcher for this year and next.
  16. So? Yeah, it was 12 starts, but they were elite-level, and we aren't talking about a super long time ago. Yeah, he's had some injury concerns since then, but the arm talent that made him a high-end prospect is still there.
  17. To be fair, it's basically one guy repeating himself ...
  18. Hader is awesome. He has been awesome for a long time. He's the best relief pitcher in MLB. But trading him and essentially replacing him with Rogers/Williams (albeit with potential pen upgrades in Lamet and Bush) the playoff odds dropped a whopping .4% I was obviously victim to the idea that Hader's value is enormous. These numbers indicate otherwise, though, as they are essentially saying that you can replace an elite reliever with a good one without any sort of substantial falloff.
  19. Well, they have seemingly filled their "random hard-throwing reliever" quota with Rogers, Lamet and Bush, so I can't imagine there will be anymore pen moves today. I expect a move for a utility type like Drury, considering it's looking like Jace is out till at least the end of this month. I'm not a fan of seeing Joey Gallo on this team, but I could see the Brewers perhaps taking a flyer on him. With both Peralta and Houser due back in short order, starting pitching shouldn't be a major need, but this team is always on the prowl for another arm they can slot into a role. The glut of OFers they have in the upper minors makes me think that one of Mitchell, Frelick, Weimer, or Lutz may be gone by this evening.
  20. Garrett Mitchell hasn't even had a Single A AB. He torched A+ last year, which earned him a promotion to AA ball. After a slow start this year, he's been heating up in AA, and has his OPS up to .781, and if the rumors are correct, was recently promoted to AAA. If there is an consternation about Mitchell's future, its that he's been relatively injury-prone so far in his young career. But other than some scuffling after his call-up to AA last season, hitting hasn't been an issue.
  21. Yeha, don't let the absolute fact that he isn't a centerfielder slow you down ...

  23. I think that is more an indication of how good Hader has been over the last several years than a criticism of Rogers. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me of Rogers turns out to be the second best closer traded during this deadline. It just so happens he was part of the package for the best. But yeah, looking at the numbers, if Rogers isn't a top 5 MLB closer, he's dang close. And the return the Twins got for him last year in Paddack was an indication of how good he actually is.
  24. Likely Alex Jackson. Or Feliciano I suppose.
  25. No one is calling Hader a choker or saying it should have been closer by committee. But fans using fan logic to justify a big deal for their franchise is commonplace. But saying that Taylor Rogers is anything but a high-end MLB closer simply isn't correct. Dude is very good, and has been for awhile. And yea, as pointed out above, he most certainly is not on a 1 year/$7 million "prove it" deal.
