  1. It’s kind of interesting as last year could be one of those “all things go wrong” type years. Yet we still were in position to win the wild card game. No knebal No Wahl Burnes didn’t cut it Shaw was horrific Aguilar was a shell of himself Cain injured all year Moose missed time with injury Arcia was worst hitter in the league JJ was DFAd Albers was our best reliever not named hader for a stretch Spangenberg/Saladino were getting meaningful September at bats Opening day started DFAd Counsel is one of the best managers in all of MLB. Glad he’s on our team.
  2. Hiura will be better defensively than he was in 2019. Full offseason with no restrictions on his arm. Hiura 2020 2nd base all star!
  3. Smith still has 2 options remaining correct? If we do aquire him, that’s important to note. It’d be interesting to see what kind of package it’d take to get Smith/Lowrie. Injuries, underperformance, team control, etc would make the Mets return hard to navigate.especially knowing smith is blocked by the Polar Bear.
  4. “The Milwaukee #Brewers were one of the teams who were pursuing Starlin Castro before he agreed to 2-year, $12 million deal with #Nats, but he badly wanted to play for manager Davey Martinez and the Nats.“
  5. Heyman was saying that he only wanted to play in NY, specifically the Mets. Players gotta want to play for Milwaukee which isn’t always the case.
  6. Yet another Stearns signing out of left field. Zero rumors about them being in on Sogard. Part of me loves the closeness to the best. Part of me wishes there were more rumors to be had. Either way, solid ball player. If him/Hiura/Urias are the middle infielders... 6 mil ain’t too shabby for them.
  7. This would be a nice get for the cubs. However, their roster construction seems like a disaster.
  8. Appreciate you diving into some of these numbers! I’m with you on the Burnes bandwagon. Some of my friends think I’m nuts (maybe I am) but I still see All Star production coming from him.
  9. Between Arcia/Urias/Lowrie and think we’d be okay on the left side. May not be the power numbers but could be solid.
  10. https://theathletic.com/1450039/2019/12/10/rosenthal-sources-say-the-astros-have-considered-trading-carlos-correa/ 2 years of control left for him. What would it take? Turang, Nottingham, peralta?
  11. I think it’s an important note. That it isn’t just a 3 batter minimum. It’s that or he finishes an inning. He could come in with 2 outs and only pitch to one batter.

  13. What do they do with Nottingham now? Will he play more first base?
  14. Interesting that a guy like Wheeler pitchers to basically 4era and 1.26 whip guy last year. And gets nearly $24 mil a year. Jordan Lyles was a 4.15 era (2.45 with Crew), 1.3 whip (1.1 with Crew) and he’s estimated to get between $5-8 mil. Not saying Lyles is better at all. Just found it interesting that they weren’t that different in these two categories. Lyles is actually a few years younger too.

  16. I think Dallas Keuchel is going to be the get for the Brewers. Ground ball pitcher, lefty, out getter. I think he will fit more in the budget then these insane offers for overhyped Wheeler.
  17. Put it this way: McNeil could see a Yelich-style jump in his power stats. Smith might also benefit. Davis becomes a right-handed bat to slot between Yelich and McNeil. They all had an OPS+ of 134 or better. For Hader and Lutz... a good return. A 1-6 of Urias, Hiura, Yelich, Davis, McNeil, and Braun is not bad. That 1-6 don’t look too shabby. I’m reality Pina/Nottingham isn’t that bad of an option in 7/8 spot. What would it take to get Diaz? Had a rough year and could maybe use a change of scenery. Not sure what he will get paid this year either.
  18. Urias’ near .400 career MiLB OBP would play real nice infront of Yelich/Hiura. Maybe not right away, but would be nice. Gotta get on base for the boppers.
  19. Thoughts on the Crew trying to get Kluber? Indians want payroll down. Had an injury that hurt his 2019 campaign. Is owed $17.5 this year and $18 in 2021. Is he worth the risk as he gets older? What would it take to get?
  20. Personally think this guy is overrated. Strikes out 25% of the time. Rather just let Nottingham have a shot. Wouldn’t cost us anything either.
  21. That's fair. It's certainly a judgement call. I guess I was just never a big Ozzie guy. He always had a knack for timely hits, but I always saw him as a terrific defender who simply had a good enough bat to stay in the lineup. I mean, I know there is much more to offensive success than power, batting average and OPS, but when you look at Ozzie's career numbers in those areas, they don't scream HOF to me. So when I hear the argument that Omar shouldn't be in the HOF, Ozzie is the first guy I always think of. My biggest issue with Ozzie. Is that he’s a cardinal. Makes me sick.
  22. The scene from Moneyball comes to mind. Where they lose out on Johnny Damon and Billy Beanes assistant says “I think it’s a good thing you didn’t sign him. This opens up a world of possibilities.” Personally I was disappointed in Grandals overall production. The walks skew his OPS stat. Not that getting walks is bad, but $18 mil you need more power/doubles/situational hitting. 140 strikeouts in 150 games is a bit much for my liking but that’s just the game of baseball on 2019. I think Pina and another can adequately replace his production. Most World Series teams do not have expensive/all star catchers.
  23. I thought that last year, and I'm not falling into that trap again this year... although I do hope to be wrong about that... It will be interesting to see how he constructs the roster in light of the new roster limitations. How much faith does he have in burnes/peralta bouncing back? Houser still in rotation? Love this time of year!
  24. I agree its not doomsday or problematic for 2020. But a 4th yr at arbitration means salary possibly in the neighborhood $18 to $25M for 2023. That is a large chunk & it could make things difficult at that point... $6 mil a year for back to back NL reliever of the year. I will take it. Granted next years results aren’t a sure thing. Things could be much worse than this. Agree with Sir Mr Plush about not signing him long term. Rather pay the premiums per year without being bogged down.
  25. It’s Game Day!!! Let’s beat a future HOFer for fun today!! Let’s go boys!!
