  1. Yes and I'm sure if the Brewers wanted to offer Jacob Misiorowski maybe they could convince the Marlins to trade him. Or they could just wait for Jesus Made.
  2. If memory serves the Brewers were strongly considering moving him to SS this year. Then in spring training he developed shoulder soreness which Murphy surmised was due to the longer throws from SS. I don't think the Brewers doubt he can be a gold glove SS they just didn't want to chance injury to an important player for them.
  3. Mookie Betts has won 6 gold gloves playing in the OF and then in 2023 and 2024 the Dodgers moved him to play significant time at 2B and SS. This year the only position he's played is SS. But I guess that doesn't count because he didn't win his gold gloves at 2B? That's such a ridiculous condition to form an opinion around.
  4. I typed a great many words but after I typed it all out I found I could summarize my thoughts in just one sentence. The fact you feel Willy Adames deserves to be booed says a lot more about your character than it does about his. While you're booing just remember, Willy Adames was a member of this organization for just three and a half seasons. Wasn't drafted here, wasn't a minor league prospect here, never signed a contract here. I'm not counting any arbitration agreements because ultimately those are formalities unless a player wants to gamble against odds that are stacked against him. End of the day he's being told what he'll be paid, it's not up to him. And none of that was his fault. He never had control of his own destiny until this offseason at the age of 29 and the Brewers didn't make him an offer, didn't even ask him what he was looking for in a contract. He wanted them to, they just didn't. I guess I couldn't help myself, I typed more anyway.
  5. I wasn't posting that to be "right" on the internet but you mentioned you hadn't seen it in a while and I had this vision in my head of you wanting to see it again and starting to watch Crimson Tide and wondering when Sean Connery was going to show up LOL. Not that it would be a bad thing to watch Crimson Tide again, it's a great movie too.
  6. You must mean The Hunt for Red October because Sean Connery isn't in Crimson Tide, that one stars Denzel Washington and Gene Hackman.
  7. "What has Gute done this offseason that even counts as what you're suggesting?" You mean signing someone that can be called a solid contributor? I mean, dang, what's your definition of that anyway? Future Hall of Famer apparently. You're likely right, Hobbs is not giving people the impression he'll be a HoFer. Why is that your floor for acceptable roster construction? Reggie White and Julius Peppers. Cool. So yeah I'm still really super confused.
  8. It sure seems to me some people on this board are all about the Packers needing to sign some huge FA every offseason or they're trash. Feel like nobody has been paying attention to how the Packers have operated for oh, the last 30+ years. They signed Reggie White in free agency. That happened one time, in like 1993. Where are these grand expectations of free agency daydreaming are coming from? For the longest time people griped about Ted Thompson's non-activity in free agency and saying things along the lines of, "He doesn't have to sign the BEST guys out there, just add some solid pieces that can contribute." Now Brian Gutekunst is doing that and we've graduated to, "Nope! Not good enough!" LOL
  9. It was, of course, 100% an April Fools joke.
  10. I'm not so good with the jumping so I underhand toss my Pet Rock at some squares.
  11. Respectfully, I see both sides of this coin. I think most regular posters here know that you share links with useful information about the Brewers. But I also think that empty posts with only a link are... lacking. Even a quick sentence to provide some context would be enough I'd think. Something like, "Hey I found this site with pictures of cute bunnies if anyone is interested." Not everyone might want to see cute bunnies so they know not to click the link (LOL). Now please enjoy this picture of a Kung Fu bunny.
  12. Started too early, stayed too late. My kind of houseguest.
  13. Can you imagine if it was the Cubs logo on the Milwaukee Brewers Talk forum instead?
  14. We don't know if it was early, maybe one of the mods lives in Iceland.
  15. This is the first thing I noticed hopping on the site this morning. Somebody's trolling. April fools day I guess. But seriously, this one is not funny
  16. If it's legal I have zero issue with it. Fair game for everyone. As with everything the league will adjust.
  17. Yeah partial weeks at the beginning (or end) of the year and before & after the all star break typically get tacked on during the fantasy schedule. The roster lock thing beginning on Monday feels like a rule specific to your league. My league allows waiver adds at any time but we only get 5 roster moves per week. EDIT: Rereading this I would assume this past Monday is also counting as a locked roster date. Again, feels like a league specific thing. Maybe the system is counting Monday the 31st as the transaction day so you wouldn't have access until the next day?
  18. I think it closed when we traded Jrue instead of Khris.
  19. ADP is a good blueprint but it's totally fair to pick guys "earlier" if you like them. The trick is to try to hold off as long as you dare so that you aren't taking them too early lol.
  20. Ortiz officially named the starting SS. Largely due to Turang experiencing shoulder soreness in what is felt to be an adjustment to longer throws playing SS (which was reported by Curt Hogg in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel). https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/44305221/brewers-settle-ss-situation-moving-joey-ortiz-3b.
  21. If it's your first time there's going to be a learning curve, your main goal should be to have fun and learn what works in your league so that you can have a better year two. Even once your draft is over there will be many impact players that emerge on the waiver wire/free agent pool throughout the season. Just being diligent and keeping an eye on up and coming players will serve you well. Watch for hot streaks and pounce on them if you have expendable players on your roster. Some leagues do have transaction limits but if you're in one that doesn't always look to see if you can improve through waivers. Make use of your IR spots. If you don't have any players currently injured see if there are some free agents with longer term IR stints that you can stash for later. If you end up getting a player injured for a shorter term and need an IR spot it doesn't hurt to drop those stash type guys and maybe pick them back up later.
  22. I'm part of a group of friends that plays D&D 5e once per week on Roll20. We do voice chat using Discord. Being able to play D&D without the need to physically get together (we're located in different cities) and in the comfort of your own home definitely makes it easier to keep schedules. Even then it's not rare for someone to miss a week here and there.
  23. He literally just cited the stats for the very best pass rushers in NFL history at age 31 and beyond. Don't know what else to tell you. "no player has averaged 15 sacks over the two seasons they turned 31 and 32" So yeah, that's a zero, nada, zip. Is there a chance he keeps a pace like the 7 exceptions he listed that kept an average as high as 13 sacks? Sure. But that's 7 guys out of every single player ever. Seems like long odds. Also, you realize it's Brian Gutekunst you're talking about facing a decision to trade a 2nd round pick? More long odds.
  24. Pete Dougherty had an article yesterday about Hendrickson and the statistics for pass rushers over the age of 30. Here's a snippet: He goes on to say he believes a 2nd round pick would be too much to give up given all of the information above and having to pay big bucks for a contract extension. I think Cincy had originally been asking for a 1st rounder, someone probably will pay the 2nd round pick and I doubt it's going to be Green Bay.
  25. The problem I have with even mentioning Bo Melton or Malik Heath is that they had all of 8 and 10 receptions respectively last season. That's with the injuries to Doubs and Watson and basically current WR room. If those guys were going to make an impact it would have happened already. Josh Jacobs and Tucker Kraft made those guys irrelevant. And Luke Musgrave might emerge this season as even more competition. Not to mention a hopefully healthy MarShawn Lloyd.
