  1. I get it. But with Watson out I think there's room for a reliable vet. I'm not overly concerned with the guys on the depth chart "getting snaps" beyond Doubs, Reed and Wicks. I think that leaves room for a vet. Cause I sure hope nobody is arguing in favor of reserving snaps for the likes of Bo Melton or Malik Heath. If Gute is going to target a #1 type guy in the draft in lieu of signing a vet then he better get the guy in round 1 or 2. If they fail to do that then they missed out on a needle mover for 2025 anyway. Sign the vet, add stability. Allen or Kupp are likely going to miss a handful of games anyway just because that's who they are so there will be opportunities for younger guys. Again, this is assuming a reasonable short term contract. Something similar to the deal Aaron Jones signed this offseason. Hard pass if it gets into significant money and years.
  2. I'm sure this would be very unpopular but I wouldn't hate signing Keenan Allen. His yardage wasn't impressive but Williams had to be some factor in that. DJ Moore also saw a similar dip in yards from prior year and I don't think anyone is down on him. Allen will be 33 and has issues staying healthy so I know he's far from ideal but maybe his contract would be on the lower side. I'd be ok with Kupp also but not for big money. He's not worth Adams money that's for sure. Neither of these guys would be #1 WRs but that's just not available in FA.
  3. Scuttlebutt was that Pittsburgh was also strongly considering Darnold but after trading for and signing Metcalf it makes me wonder if Seattle has more spending power than Pittsburgh. So Seattle could land Darnold, leaving Rodgers for Pittsburgh. It's an interesting situation for sure.
  4. I've been having issues just being able to load twitter today, apparently it's been an issue this morning.
  5. Jaire still a Packer, for now.
  6. Chris Godwin re-signs with the Bucs for 3 years, 2 of which are fully guaranteed.
  7. Not sure if I'm the only one experiencing it but today I'm noticing slow page load times. I'm on desktop using Chrome browser. Yesterday things were fine, today it's been slow. When I visit other websites I'm not getting the same issue.
  8. The Herschel Walker trade comes to mind. The Saints trade for the 5th overall pick to draft Ricky Williams. Still not sure those quite fit the Luka situation. NFL and NBA are a little apples and oranges since a superstar on an NBA team can be argued to be much more valuable (1 of 5 starters having more impact than 1 of 11 or 22) but those weren't great moves for the receiving teams that are still referenced today. A little closer to home the Ray Allen trade certainly wasn't great for Milwaukee.
  9. Justifies was probably a poor word choice on my part but if they didn't like their long term outlook with Luka, which how could anyone read it otherwise, this shouldn't change their in house opinion because of it. Their choice of what they did while executing the trade and receiving in return is worthy of scrutiny. I think they really valued no media leaks about trade discussions and if they had truly shopped him around leaks would have been inevitable. Asking one team to remain silent has a better success factor. In hindsight though they probably shouldn't have worried as much about media leaks because the fallout would have likely been the same as what they're getting now. Maybe a little worse but it's still a huge thing to where I don't think they should have worried as much about it.
  10. As far as Adams "wanting" to come back I don't think there would be any barriers to it other than normal player acquisition ones like fit, contract, etc. I don't feel any bridges were burned when Adams got traded, by all accounts the Packers accommodated Davante's preferred destination and tried to do the best they could for him. That's respect given and I think he knows that and appreciates it. I too might prefer to look elsewhere though. If he comes back that's fine but the contract will be large and he's aging. I do also think he could help. So whatever happens, happens I guess but if they don't bring him back it's not going to bother me.
  11. I don't know, to me if Kyrie was going to be injured anyway is Dallas even that big of a playoff threat even with Luka? To me it kind of justifies moving him in a weird way especially if they were wary of committing to him long term. Headlines are trashing them over it but injuries aren't predictable and Luka has dealt with his own over the years as well. He's a great player and in his prime, the risk was going to be huge regardless if all this was going to happen or not. They chose their path and I don't think I'd look back only because of the injuries to AD and Kyrie. It's much more long term than that.
  12. The last 3 or 4 episodes of the season really start paying off the groundwork of the first half of the season. But as with any show there will never be 100% popularity, everyone has different tastes.
  13. Severance is one of the few shows since Game of Thrones that has me counting down the days until the next episode releases. Is it Thursday yet?
  14. That Corbin guy should stick to baseball.
  15. Even that would satisfy my goal, an admission that the play is not necessary for competition. The dude is legitimately offended that this even happened, he needs to get over himself and his ego. As you've pointed out there is a question about player safety involved here and the tush push specifically does walk a line of potentially unnecessary risk. It's a dangerous sport so it is what it is but there are reasons to examine the rule even if they ultimately decide to let it ride.
  16. Here's a snippet of what he said specifically about the Cardinals. IMO he's pretty polite about it actually. But yeah what he's saying is pretty damning of just the overall state of the Cardinals method of coaching young pitchers.
  17. I find it amusing how much Nick Sirianni is up in his feelings just because the NFL is considering banning the tush push. I really want a reporter to ask him, "Do you think your team would not have won a Super Bowl if you couldn't use that play?" Because whatever he replies he's trapped. Either your team is good enough to get along without that exploit or it isn't. So what is it Nicky?
  18. If I could go to any regular season game, anywhere, in 2025, I'd pick opening day at Yankee Stadium. I could see that being a big problem with ticket availability though lol. Opening day is a hard ask. What about the 2nd or 3rd game? Opening weekend would be a fun time and Yankee Stadium is tough to beat IMO. EDIT: Ah, 90 days. Well given that I'd just pick a city you'd like to visit. Some that jump out to me are San Diego, LAD, Seattle, Miami. Maybe Philly or Arizona. The Mets might be interesting given some of the fireworks between these two teams last season.
  19. Players pushing teammates forward on the field of play happens in more instances than just these 4th down and 1 plays. WRs catching the ball and running upfield get pushed once a defender has stopped their momentum. RBs running traditional run plays also get help. Pretty much any time there's a bit of a scrum but the player is still fighting for yards teammates jump in to help push forward for a couple more yards. So I'm not sure if the Packers proposal is only for the Tush Push or if it encompasses all of these instances. I admit I'm more in favor of keeping the helping of a teammate during a normal play and banning the 4th and 1 type play. I think a distinction can be made within the rules.
  20. From what I understand it might still be illegal, the refs just don't call it. ESPN had a story on it a couple days ago which has since been updated once it became known that the Packers are the team that proposed banning it. Mark Murphy apparently also did a Q&A on the Packers website and spoke about it saying: Troy Vincent also mentions that the Tush Push play has been something that has been discussed at least twice in previous seasons so it's not like the Packers proposal is coming out of the blue, this has been a rule that is being continually examined. Personally I think it should be banned. But on a scale of 1 to 10 of things I'd be passionate about seeing happen it's pretty low, like a 3 or 4. If they change it great, if not it's not going to bother me too much.
  21. That's true but it was also true last season when his tag was only around $4M to $5M less than it will be this season. Also saw yesterday that the NFL is increasing the salary cap for 2025 by a minimum of $22M (and maybe more) over last season so I think they can fit him in. Again, it's definitely not preferred, agreeing on a multiyear contract is much more beneficial, but they aren't going to just let him go either.
  22. The Franchise Tag for Higgins would be for $26.17 million. That's probably less than what his AAV would be with a new long term contract. Of course you tag him if it comes to that point. It's a bargain.
  23. Cortes was an all star in '22. That doesn't count as all star for all star? I've always liked Cortes from afar, I think he can be a solid contributor. Williams appeared in only 22 games last season and has made 2 career all star teams. They also have his replacement in house. Just like he replaced Hader. A lot of this is trusting the depth of young players they have in their system. And yes, payroll restriction exacerbated by the uncertainty of their once expected local tv broadcast deal first being taken away and then coming to a new agreement that is almost certainly for less compensation than the previous one. The Brewers did less than I expected them to even so but I also understand why. Not thrilled with it but there were some less expected circumstances involved. Plus they took a gamble on Hoskins last season and it didn't pay off so well. Here's hoping he has an improved season this year since they're stuck with him. I think a D is a fair grade, I would probably stretch it to D+/C-. But I also still think the team can be as competitive as they have been recently with what they currently have. Big key is staying as healthy as possible as there seems to be less margin for error than usual.
  24. Streaming is now very close to what cable was. I still prefer streaming over cable because I don't like all the extraneous fees that cable companies just can't help but charge. Also just being able to manage your subscription with the click of a button rather than going through the pain of talking to a customer service rep that is told to exhaust every option before letting you cancel. BUT the price isn't as huge a gap as it once was. I can totally see why people would just stick with their cable subscription at this point. It's probably just not worth the hassle unless you really want to pinch every last penny. I personally don't subscribe to any live TV provider period. Too much money and I don't watch it anyway. The only thing I want to watch is Packers games and my folks have me added as a family member for their YouTube TV subscription so that's the only time I watch it. I get Brewers games through the FanDuel app.
  25. I got a notification about this yesterday but didn't visit the site until today so I kind of expected someone to have posted this already. Brewers unveil Uecker jersey patch for '25
