  1. Even that would satisfy my goal, an admission that the play is not necessary for competition. The dude is legitimately offended that this even happened, he needs to get over himself and his ego. As you've pointed out there is a question about player safety involved here and the tush push specifically does walk a line of potentially unnecessary risk. It's a dangerous sport so it is what it is but there are reasons to examine the rule even if they ultimately decide to let it ride.
  2. Here's a snippet of what he said specifically about the Cardinals. IMO he's pretty polite about it actually. But yeah what he's saying is pretty damning of just the overall state of the Cardinals method of coaching young pitchers.
  3. I find it amusing how much Nick Sirianni is up in his feelings just because the NFL is considering banning the tush push. I really want a reporter to ask him, "Do you think your team would not have won a Super Bowl if you couldn't use that play?" Because whatever he replies he's trapped. Either your team is good enough to get along without that exploit or it isn't. So what is it Nicky?
  4. If I could go to any regular season game, anywhere, in 2025, I'd pick opening day at Yankee Stadium. I could see that being a big problem with ticket availability though lol. Opening day is a hard ask. What about the 2nd or 3rd game? Opening weekend would be a fun time and Yankee Stadium is tough to beat IMO. EDIT: Ah, 90 days. Well given that I'd just pick a city you'd like to visit. Some that jump out to me are San Diego, LAD, Seattle, Miami. Maybe Philly or Arizona. The Mets might be interesting given some of the fireworks between these two teams last season.
  5. Players pushing teammates forward on the field of play happens in more instances than just these 4th down and 1 plays. WRs catching the ball and running upfield get pushed once a defender has stopped their momentum. RBs running traditional run plays also get help. Pretty much any time there's a bit of a scrum but the player is still fighting for yards teammates jump in to help push forward for a couple more yards. So I'm not sure if the Packers proposal is only for the Tush Push or if it encompasses all of these instances. I admit I'm more in favor of keeping the helping of a teammate during a normal play and banning the 4th and 1 type play. I think a distinction can be made within the rules.
  6. From what I understand it might still be illegal, the refs just don't call it. ESPN had a story on it a couple days ago which has since been updated once it became known that the Packers are the team that proposed banning it. Mark Murphy apparently also did a Q&A on the Packers website and spoke about it saying: Troy Vincent also mentions that the Tush Push play has been something that has been discussed at least twice in previous seasons so it's not like the Packers proposal is coming out of the blue, this has been a rule that is being continually examined. Personally I think it should be banned. But on a scale of 1 to 10 of things I'd be passionate about seeing happen it's pretty low, like a 3 or 4. If they change it great, if not it's not going to bother me too much.
  7. That's true but it was also true last season when his tag was only around $4M to $5M less than it will be this season. Also saw yesterday that the NFL is increasing the salary cap for 2025 by a minimum of $22M (and maybe more) over last season so I think they can fit him in. Again, it's definitely not preferred, agreeing on a multiyear contract is much more beneficial, but they aren't going to just let him go either.
  8. The Franchise Tag for Higgins would be for $26.17 million. That's probably less than what his AAV would be with a new long term contract. Of course you tag him if it comes to that point. It's a bargain.
  9. Cortes was an all star in '22. That doesn't count as all star for all star? I've always liked Cortes from afar, I think he can be a solid contributor. Williams appeared in only 22 games last season and has made 2 career all star teams. They also have his replacement in house. Just like he replaced Hader. A lot of this is trusting the depth of young players they have in their system. And yes, payroll restriction exacerbated by the uncertainty of their once expected local tv broadcast deal first being taken away and then coming to a new agreement that is almost certainly for less compensation than the previous one. The Brewers did less than I expected them to even so but I also understand why. Not thrilled with it but there were some less expected circumstances involved. Plus they took a gamble on Hoskins last season and it didn't pay off so well. Here's hoping he has an improved season this year since they're stuck with him. I think a D is a fair grade, I would probably stretch it to D+/C-. But I also still think the team can be as competitive as they have been recently with what they currently have. Big key is staying as healthy as possible as there seems to be less margin for error than usual.
  10. Streaming is now very close to what cable was. I still prefer streaming over cable because I don't like all the extraneous fees that cable companies just can't help but charge. Also just being able to manage your subscription with the click of a button rather than going through the pain of talking to a customer service rep that is told to exhaust every option before letting you cancel. BUT the price isn't as huge a gap as it once was. I can totally see why people would just stick with their cable subscription at this point. It's probably just not worth the hassle unless you really want to pinch every last penny. I personally don't subscribe to any live TV provider period. Too much money and I don't watch it anyway. The only thing I want to watch is Packers games and my folks have me added as a family member for their YouTube TV subscription so that's the only time I watch it. I get Brewers games through the FanDuel app.
  11. I got a notification about this yesterday but didn't visit the site until today so I kind of expected someone to have posted this already. Brewers unveil Uecker jersey patch for '25
  12. MLB.com does offer a standalone subscription for MLB Network for $5.99/month. Doesn't feel worth it to me but maybe for 2 or 3 months a year it wouldn't be awful. I could maybe see signing up during the last couple months of the baseball season to follow playoff races. But I probably wouldn't even then honestly.
  13. The only choices for Wisconsin residents to watch Brewers games via streaming are: 1) FanDuel Sports Network, standalone website or app (live local sports only): https://fanduelsportsnetwork.com/ Price is $19.99/month or $189.99/year plus tax 2) fubo TV (live television with regional sports): https://www.fubo.tv/welcome The PRO package is the minimum tier for Brewers games Price is $84.99/month plus tax 3) DIRECTV stream (live television with regional sports): https://streamtv.directv.com/ The CHOICE package is the minimum tier for Brewers games Price is $114.99/month plus tax If you're going to stick with YouTube TV as your regular live TV streaming service then you wouldn't want fubo or DIRECTV stream you'd want only one of those 3 services since they all have live TV networks etc. YouTube TV does not offer FanDuel Sports Network so you'd need to use FanDuel's website/app to watch Brewers games as long as you are a Wisconsin resident. Outside of Wisconsin the only option would be MLB.TV and hope you aren't in a blacked out region.
  14. I see Kuzma as more of a Bobby Portis replacement than a Middleton replacement. And maybe that will come to pass in the next 24 plus hours.
  15. I think a lot of what's going on with the Bucks, a team that won a championship, helps me feel better about the Brewers situation. A lot of folks would sell everything for a Brewers WS title (and I'd be tempted too) but do we want to fall back into irrelevance for a long stretch as a price? Maybe the Brewers method is the better way. They haven't had luck in the postseason but having a good team is fun to follow. All I see in the Bucks future is darkness. And maybe that's even too negative but I sure like the Brewers situation better.
  16. I agree but also if the Bucks could trade every one of their 1st round picks they would, so they essentially did that here. But yes, it's a cluster. This team is going to go down eventually and it's going to be apocalyptic for years before they return to the light.
  17. It's such a Milwaukee thing (bad luck) that teams had been getting away with swapping superstars for years but when the Bucks finally get a team together the league changes the cap rules right in the middle of their championship window. Right up there with the MLB all star game finally being held in Miller Park but then the game ends in a tie due to roster limits.
  18. Player wise it's not a great trade but I assume it brings some salary cap relief. That's really the only reason they do this trade.
  19. The Bucks notoriously struggle on road trips out west. Regardless of how good they are. Not worth overreacting to.
  20. Shouldn't we be rooting for the Dodgers to continue signing literally everyone? Eventually other owners will tire of it and demand changes. Fans will likely disconnect from the sport as well. The Mets will probably join them with Cohen's wealth propelling them. They're just getting started under Stearns and while I made a joke when the Mets signed Soto that they didn't need Stearns to make that move he will keep the team in line by knowing which guys to stay away from, like Pete Alonso. There's a guy the Mets absolutely would have thrown too much money at before Stearns got there.
  21. Cool, just take the ones from the 60's onward and they still have them beat by one. The 2000's is an odd line in the sand. Don't care. Not any more special. In fact, these are the days of breathing on a QB gets you a personal foul penalty. The game is the easiest it's ever been. Recency bias really needs to die in a fire. Somebody tell the Yankees they don't really have 27 World Series titles, they actually only have 2.
  22. If only the NFL had history preceding the Super Bowl era then maybe the Patriots wouldn't be on top of any mountains. Maybe in this fictional reality it would be the Packers instead.
  23. I agree, it's all gravy now that the Lions' and Vikings' drought is assured of continuing. I'm all for Buffalo getting over the hump. I don't really have secondary teams in my sports fandom but I've always liked the Bills. Rooted for them in all those Super Bowls they didn't win in the early 90s, they're a smaller market at just under 300,000 population so there's another reason. The fatigue is real with KC. On top of that is they just feel like a very uninspired and dull team that is somehow defying the odds and still winning. I don't get it but here they are again. I don't dislike them they way I hated the Patriots but they're travelling down that road. If they make it back I passionately hope they lose.
  24. 0-1 is the only record that matters for you this season, Detroit.
  25. Nothing better than watching the Lions absolutely choke on one of their own trick plays.
