  1. I think you're making more out of this than it deserves. For the record at no point was I directing my comments at you, which doesn't really matter because you are still allowed to disagree with me. I just said defending the cut players really didn't make much sense to me. If you disagree and feel people aren't defending them, fair enough. I don't think what I said was controversial to this extreme. If you want to call it a dumb comment fine by me.
  2. What I liked about Narveson was he was 100% on his extra point tries. Also when he did make kicks they were usually right down the middle. I almost want to say they all were right down the middle but I can't, I don't have that kind of memory. It just felt like to me his makes were really spot on and obviously his misses weren't. I don't have the same memory feel for Carlson's kicks, doesn't mean his were any worse, but Narveson's successful kicks just felt really good to me. That's the rub with Carlson, if he did have a better % are you just quoting his FG attempts? Because clearly that's not the whole story, he missed multiple extra points. Just looked it up, he missed 6 FGs AND 5 extra points. 11 misses is not a small number. So really not interested in cherry picking only the field goals when that wasn't his only problem. Narveson made 84.8% of ALL his kicks. Carlson made 84.7%. Both deserved what they got. McManus has never missed more than 3 extra points in a season his entire career. His FG% has fluctuated but as has been pointed out the majority of his misses are from 50+ yards. It sure seems reasonable that choosing him solves the Packers kicking problems for the near future and perhaps for a few seasons to come.
  3. I think about that all the time as I'm sure many Packers fans do. The Packers traded down from their #29 overall pick and selected Kevin King with the first pick of the 2nd round (#33 overall). TJ Watt was selected with the next pick #30 overall. Cleveland also missed their chance at Watt with the #29 overall (as did the teams with the 28 selections prior) which they used to select David Njoku. The Packers also got a 4th round pick in that trade and selected Vince Biegel with the #108 overall selection. All in all not a great result.
  4. I don't understand the kicker defenders. The facts are Carlson and Narveson missed too many kicks and this team is a playoff contender if not a Super Bowl contender. When teams suck they have the luxury of being able to bring a kicker along and be patient with their struggles, even then I'm sure the coaches that are on the hot seat for those bad teams don't love it. If you don't want to squander playoff opportunities you look for upgrades. It's really that simple. Despite Narveson's struggles I actually kinda liked him. I thought his kicks mostly looked good. He just missed too many kicks. I have zero regrets letting him go and upgrading that position. I don't care if Narveson goes on to be Justin Tucker, he wasn't helping us this season. The Packers need competence right now, not 2 or 3 years down the line. I agree with the person that said you don't need to have the best kicker in the league, you just need someone that's going to make their kicks consistently. Missing 5 kicks in 6 games is the wrong kind of consistent. Bottom line, if a player wants to hold on to his job they actually have to DO their job. The last two guys didn't.
  5. Ah it's like the Packers 2021 season all over again in Jets land, except Rodgers is now 3 years older and less mobile and effective. Can't imagine Garrett Wilson is loving this move, he already trails Lazard in receiving TDs 5 to 3 and now Davante enters the target group. I'm glad that mess is happening there.
  6. Four wins against 1 win teams does not inspire me much. Gotta play the schedule you're given, sure, but losing to the Colts isn't a good look either. Packers wins aren't exactly all that much better but it's been a bit of a strange season with the Love injury and we have last season to draw from. The Bears have potential and maybe their offense is rounding into shape but I need to see it against something approaching a competent opponent before I can really get a feel for how seriously to take them. 13 pts vs. the Texans ain't doing it for me.
  7. Same. Also not in favor of a cheap, year one WS ticket punch for David Stearns especially going through Milwaukee to do it.
  8. Dumb offense and a turnover because of it. Thanks Arizona.
  9. Arizona playing this run game like they have the lead.
  10. I'm no fan of Machado but after 3 minutes or so of looking at the video and reading about what all happened this honestly seems pretty mild. Even if he did it on purpose and I would say that it very likely was, he knew the net was there and threw it into the net. I'd say it's had its intended effect. Again, not a fan of Machado whatsoever but I don't find this to be that serious. If it had been the Brewers dugout I'd be pretty upset about it, things are more amplified when it happens to your team. As a more neutral observer I don't think it's that big an issue. For now, things could keep escalating and that wouldn't be a good thing (though it might be entertaining).
  11. MLB certainly could, I just don't put high odds on it. I believe people could watch the Brewers on FUBO and DirecTV Stream (or whatever it might be called now) other than Ballys and the cable/satellite providers. I just wouldn't expect to see YouTube TV, Hulu or Sling jump back in. I'm all for it, just don't think it's likely.
  12. I agree, I wouldn't expect the streaming services with Brewers coverage to change from what they already have been.
  13. I doubt that will cover in market Brewers games. That will be on a different tier.
  14. Per this Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article, last year Padres fans paid $99 for the full season through the MLB.tv app. In contrast the Ballys app charged $20 per month (so $120 over 6 months) and I think it was around $190 if you wanted an annual plan. That doesn't mean the price won't change but I think it will be reasonable even if it does.
  15. I feel like we can't rely on McKinney getting a pick every week but for now, weeeeee!
  16. So that's what Love can do if he gets good blocking and can take his time to make a good throw.
  17. Terrible. Gotta have that timer in your head and look around you, then do that?
  18. The Green Bay Penalties still going strong.
  19. In baseball, teams score runs by hitting balls that pitchers pitch to them. Weird.
  20. Definitely could be nothing. Usually pitchers will confirm if they feel they were tipping so we'll see if Devin says anything in the next few days. He may not because I'm sure some people would just call him out for making excuses. Could be something we don't hear about for a year or two or just never. FWIW Trevor Plouffe says it's there but very slight. Might not be obvious enough for batters to pick up.
  21. If you're still feeling sore from this heartbreaking loss kicking you in the groin, here's another gut punch for good measure. Looks like Devin was (Maybe? Probably?) tipping his pitches.
  22. Nobody wants to hear this right now but going through the hardships just makes the times they break through so satisfying. That's true for any sport. But for me 2018 was awesome even though they lost game 7 of the NLCS at home. That team was special and it was truly a joy to experience that. Look up some YouTube videos if you haven't already. It also stung to get so close to the WS but not get there. But I and many fans felt like that team was on the rise, surely they'd make another run deep in the playoffs the next year and beyond... didn't happen. That's when we started this cursed streak of playoff disappointment. But 2018 was still epic even so.
  23. I, for one, am more than ready for this particular trend to end. Doesn't even matter to me that it's the Mets. I'm just done with the same thing happening every time.
  24. I understand the crushing disappointment and anger but I generally choose to get philosophical after these types of things. I'm hurt and disappointed too, the whole Lucy pulling the ball away at the last second trope has gotten old with this franchise. But time and again I just come back to this being the nature of sports. There's a winner and a loser, a hero and a goat. Someone is going home bitterly disappointed. Maybe someday it won't be us. Maybe.
