  1. Live look at the image of the sculpture as imagined by the artist:
  2. I frankly don't see a scenario where Garcia is back next year. Either he plays so well that he declines his option for a better contract or he continues being marginally productive and the Brewers look elsewhere. I'm just not sure a middle ground exists where his performance makes the Brewers feel like picking up the extra $10 million and Avi doesn't opt out.
  3. If you look at the team's actions it doesn't look like they value Rodgers as much as the outside world feels they should. The facts are we don't know how far back bad feelings go between the team and Rodgers and not all of that is Rodgers' feelings. We and the world are aware of Rodgers' personality, he holds grudges, he makes veiled comments in interviews, fractured relationship with his family, who's to say that when all the fallout from McCarthy's final season (or even further back) was taking place that Murphy and Gutekunst weren't happy with their QB not only from an on field standpoint but from a behind the scenes standpoint as well. Like many have said, it sure seemed like the Packers had a plan to move on from Rodgers after this season or to at least have that option if he wasn't playing up to a level that they wanted him to. We just don't know. 16 years is a long time and nobody knows Rodgers better than Green Bay does. They've said they offered him a new contract and a commitment of years, we really don't know what that looks like though. It's clearly not good enough for Rodgers or he'd have signed up.
  4. Noticing that today's brand of scuttlebutt surrounding Rodgers is that the Packers want to call his bluff. That may be true but it's stupid to leak it because that should only strengthen Rodgers' resolve. Unless they WANT him to continue to hold out so they don't look as bad for working out a trade.
  5. I have to disagree. If a team trades for Rodgers, they don't need to absorb his bonus, just the 25M annual base. If a team really wants Rodgers, that 25M will not stand in their way, they'll find a way to make it work. Additionally, Rodgers sitting a year is not an attractive outcome for his trade value. He'll be going into his age 39 season and out of football for a year. Coming off an MVP season is not the same as being a year removed from one. There will still be offers, but they'll be less than right now. There's no reason to let him sit a year first and then trade him. Either stand your ground and make him retire or trade him. My personal preference is the trade. He's 37 right now and he'll turn 38 in December so he's nearly 2 full seasons away from being 39. Not that I disagree much with your opinion. Trading him now could bring back players to help the Packers this season as well. If it were only picks then I don't think waiting hurts quite as much but it's better to do it sooner than later.
  6. Very likely it was a third party seller. Wal-Mart's website is similar to Amazon/eBay where other people can sell their stuff, used or new, and set whatever price they want. I think it's just harder to spot on Wal-Mart's site. When Wal-Mart is the seller it will be for the retail (or sale) price.
  7. Home runs aren't valid if the runner misses a base, I don't know why a ground rule double would be any different.
  8. Ho hum, just another extra innings win by our terrible manager who doesn't understand how to use his best relief pitcher.
  9. He came into the game for Garcia I believe as a defensive replacement (actually likely part of a double switch), now he's in CF after Cain left.
  10. Yeah, why put Hiura out there? It’s not like we need him in the lineup for his bat. Nothing really good could come out of it. I think Shaw, Vogelbach and Pina were the only other options, Shaw came in to play 1st.
  11. A major change is certainly incoming starting tomorrow. The teams we played over the first 50 games (MIN x3, CHC x9, STL x6, PIT x3, SD x7, MIA x6, LAD x4, PHI x4, ATL x3, KC x2 & CIN x3) have a winning percentage of about .521 so far. The teams we play over the next 42 games (WAS x3, DET x2, ARI x7, CIN x10, PIT x7, COL x7, CHC x3 & NYM x3) before the All Star Break have a winning percentage of about .420 so far. Not only do they play the Reds 10 times prior to the AS break, they immediately play 3 more against them after it. Now, I don't think the Reds are that bad of a team per se but their pitching seems like a staff the Brewers can handle hitting against based on the last series against them. Ultimately it comes down to Brewers pitching keeping their offense contained.
  12. Hopefully you are writing letters, emails to the Brewers with feedback. If people complain and in high numbers you'd think they'd make some effort to improve.
  13. I don't know how much I really like it either but I get over it pretty easy since it means they hit a home run or won the game.
  14. Isn't it fun seemingly having more DFA candidates than prospects ready to take their place?
  15. You don’t know that……just because he wasn’t a high bonus player doesn’t mean he won’t become a player……just like paying a huge bonus doesn’t mean you are getting a future star…..as we well know. Obviously the Brewers see some potential in the kid or they would have picked someone else or just taken cash. It’s a crap shoot……we got Aguilar on waivers……so did the Marlins…….Nelson Cruz was DFA and nobody wanted him……you just never know….. chances are the kid won’t make it…..but our system has another player that it didn’t have a day ago……so that’s not a bad thing. I swear it seems some people would rather have gotten nothing for a player we had to release. Well nothing is almost certainly what we did in fact get. Comparing a guy who has never even played a professional game even in the DSL to Aguilar or Cruz is pretty ridiculous. The Mets used him to trade for a guy they needed without having to wait out the waivers process, the Brewers could use him the exact same way. He doesn't need to pan out as a prospect to be a positive asset.
  16. Raiders were a top 10 offense with Carr, I'm not sure upgrading to Rodgers really moves the needle much for them. Their problem is defense and it sure seems to me like keeping their picks makes more sense than trading them away for a QB in regards to improving defensively. We've seen Packers teams with Rodgers leading a good offense with a not so great defense why would he be any more successful for the Raiders?
  17. This. I totally get that these guys have plenty of money but this always seems so damn foolish to me. Heck, even if you don't need the 500K, the things you can do with that money to help others would be a driving force. What do the Packers do with fine money? Just pocket it? If I recall the NFL takes fine money and it does go to charity. That is why many players embrace certain trivial fines like celebrations. Not sure if teams do it differently. That's just fine money, Rodgers isn't being fined for missing OTAs as they are voluntary. He did not earn his bonus however. An unpaid, unearned bonus is not a fine.
