  1. No he doesn't need to be Knebel but having that 14.3 K/9 is extremely valuable. It's why I am still holding on to the hope of signing Kimbrel.
  2. I got so excited when I saw this come through...then I got to word 8... He has had a good amount of success in his career but this is by no means a replacement for Knebel.
  3. So Kimbrel got his elbow examined too? Oy vey...
  4. Sounds like Knebel indicated discomfort on Monday and then we find out we are interested in Kimbrel. I am guessing if Knebel did not get hurt they would not have reached out to Kimbrel? I knew a super pen of Hader, Jeffress, Knebel, and Kimbrel was too good to be true.
  5. HOW DARE YOU PUT THAT OUT INTO THE UNIVERSE!
  6. Sounds like the Mariners are in sell mode. Heyman indicates the Mariners intend to hold onto Haniger, Diaz, and Gonzalez but "everyone else is up for grabs". In that case, who would you take from the Mariners and what kind of package would you give?
  7. Brewers picked up the Jeffress option and declined Lyles
  8. For the last day I have been thinking Tyrone Taylor = Troy Stokes Jr and have been so confused. Finally realized it wasn't actually Stokes that got added to the 40.
  9. Yeah, I am usually on the overly optimistic side of things when it comes to players returning from injury (I was making a pitch for acquiring Garrett Richards just a couple of days before he broke again this season). In the case of Jimmy Nelson, I am not expecting him to ever return to the breakout performance we saw in 2017. That season was amazing, but it was also a pretty significant outlier from his three previous professional seasons. I think he will indeed make a return to the mound at some point, but next year in his age 30 season I expect him to struggle to regain his command and overall ability to pitch. I hope that ends up looking like a silly statement, but I can't imagine the Brewers are expecting him to return to the mound looking like the pitcher he was when he suffered the injury. Does Nelson have options remaining? Could we see him start out in AAA?
  10. I am envious of the Red Sox hitters. Of course Mookie Betts and JD Martinez are elite, but up and down their lineup they have good hitters who put the ball in play. I hope the Brewers transition to more of a low K, high contact lineup. Brewers led the league in strikeouts in 2016 and 2017 and were 7th in 2018 so hopefully trending in the right direction. Under Doug Melvin, the Brewers were built on power and his drafts reflected that. Under Stearns, I think he is trying to focus more on pure hitters. Ray (in college anyways), Erceg, Hiura, Turang, and Bello are all top hitters that Stearns has drafted since he has taken over and all of them have a good contact profile.
  11. Brewers also played an entire year with basically zero production from SS and 2B (until they got Moose). They should be pretty good next year but a lot of really good teams don't make it to the LCS so a lot still has to go their way.
  12. Oh for sure. I think it would be foolish to expect a repeat of 2017 but I think he could bring a lot of value. That way we wouldn't have to roll out the likes of Perez, Saladino, Broxton, Orf, Miller, etc. If you could only pick one between Gonzalez, Moose, and Schoop (should all be commanding similar dollar figures) who would you take? Yes I know a lot goes into that decision but I think I would take Gonzalez over the others.
  13. If the Brewers aren't going to keep Moose or Schoop, then I would like to see them go after a guy like Marwin Gonzalez. He may not put up the power numbers of Moose or Schoop can but he is a career .737 switch hitter with extreme defensive versatility. That sounds like someone we could use. Stearns should be used to him from his days in Houston as well. Thoughts?
  14. He may not be as good as his 2017 but he is still a good player. $10 million good? Probably not but he can still be valuable 2015 - .279/.306/.482, 17 2Bs, 15 HRs 2016 - .267/.298/.454, 38 2Bs, 25 HRs 2017 - .293/.338/.503, 35 2Bs, 32 HRs 2018 - .233/.266/.416, 22 2Bs, 21 HRs A career OPS of .738 is pretty valuable in this league (for comparison Moustakas career OPS is .737) I think they tender him just for the fact that they gave up three players to get him. You can't just let him walk.
  15. What is the difference between the two? They both make personnel moves so what is the difference between a general manager and a president of baseball operations?
  16. I think the Brewers keep him. They need a RH power bat and that is what Schoop is. Yes, he was terrible with the Brewers but he hit .293 with 32 home runs a year before.
  17. I'm more in love with the BB/K ratio, and the ability to his for average. It may not be .400, but if he is a .300 hitter with those OBP skills... he'd go well with Yelich and Cain over the long term. Wasn't thames like a .340 hitter in Korea? We all see how that translated to the US.
  18. From what I have seen from Stearns so far, he will not be paying for elite pitching. Whether that is money or prospect capital, I don't think he is going to do it. Everyone will be calling for the Brewers to sign Corbin or Evoaldi this offseason but its not going to happen. Pitchers are too volatile for a small market team like the Brewers to throw a lot of money or prospects at. If there are big acquisitions it will be for hitters. I think the future of the Brewers will be to draft and develop pitching and spend on hitting when its needed. That is much more sustainable.
  19. You guys are all crazy if you think they are getting rid of Aguilar. The only 1B they will be getting rid of would be Thames. We don't need Thames when we have a guy like Shaw that can play 1B and spell Aguilar. Yes, Aguilar didn't have a great second half but that was his first full season and big guys like that tend to wear down more quickly. I do agree that they need an offensive upgrade but it won't be a guy like Goldschmidt.
  20. Yes, I got the presale and did not re-sell any tickets. Got 4 tickets for home game 1 of the WS.
  21. Does anyone know where to get the crew sweatshirts that the coaches wear in the dugout? Specifically this one: https://imagesvc.timeincapp.com/v3/fan/image?url=https%3A%2F%2Freviewingthebrew.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2Fgetty-images%2F2017%2F08%2F827431112-milwaukee-brewers-v-minnesota-twins.jpg.jpg&c=sc&w=850&h=560
  22. Here is the info on NLCS single game tickets. They don't have a "Brewers Insider" presale that they did during the WC and NLDS presales. Just season ticket holder and WI Resident presales now. https://brewers.mlblogs.com/brewers-announce-nlcs-single-game-ticket-details-68c52aa3dd61?gi=e1cdc301723f
