With Williams and Peralta being sent down now and not being able to be recalled by 9/1 will they be able to be on the playoff roster should the Brewers make it?
"@Reds are saying Matt Harvey will start today instead of being traded to @Brewers but Joe Maddon says @Cubs should be prepared either way. "I want to believe our guys will be able to adjust,'' he said."
I know we have a 40-man roster crunch, but if Stearns gets rid of any 45+ grade prospect, I won't be too happy. Also, is Harvey any better than Woodruff? I don't think he is so this claim confuses me.
It shouldn't take anything more than a roster filler-type marginal prospect. Someone like Derby maybe. It would be nice to be able to clear another guy who may stand a chance of being taken in the Rule 5. I hope so. He isn't having a great year. Yes, he probably has a higher ceiling than anything we have just due to his stuff, but not sure he is much of an improvement over what we currently have.
If they do make this trade I would be really curious to see what they decide to do with the rotation. I don't see Peralta and Davies excelling in a bullpen role so maybe Guerra moves to long relief?
And of course Cain gets a hit...thats two base running errors that have cost us two runs. Between last night and today so far this team is playing terrible baseball
