  1. Right now they are saying Braves lead to get Gausman, and Pirates lead to get Archer...and our consolation prize is Matt Harvey..
  2. Having the Pirates get Archer would suck. We would have to face him for the next three years. That's why I don't necessarily believe the Pirates are in the lead because maybe that is being leaked to get Stearns to up their offer? Or maybe thats just what I want to believe
  3. Sure, but do you think they are going to give up a kings ransom to win a bidding war? Just because they have the most ammo doesn't mean they are going to waste it... The Braves have such a young team, talented team, they can afford to give up much more than others. I see the Braves as the Cubs of 2014. A lot of great young ML talent with a loaded farm system to get whatever they want.
  4. They Braves have 8 prospects in the MLB top 100. If they want him bad enough there is nothing the Brewers or any other team can match.
  5. I think if it is down to Gray and Harvey, the Brewers don't do either and they just wait until August to pick up SP depth.
  6. I think I heavily agree with this. I have a hunch Stearns and the Reds have a contingency deal agreed to ... "if we don't get anyone else by the deadline ... we'll send you A & B for Harvey". Also, to the next poster who said something about Sonny Gray ... I think I'm on board if that can happen. Reunite him with Derek Johnson and let him lead the charge. Gray and Harvey? Why would we give up anything for these guys? By acquiring either of them you are just praying for good luck the rest of the year. Nothing about their season is worth acquiring.
  7. From Ken Rosenthal: Source: #Brewers pursuing #Nationals LHP Gio Gonzalez.
  8. Yes that is very curious. It seems you guys have inside sources and this is what is going to happen.
  9. LOVE IT! Who needs a farm system anyways?
  10. Somebody on twitter proposed a really interesting trade with Harper... 3-way trade between Oakland, Miami, and Washington Harper to OAK Realmuto to WSH prospects to MIA Honestly makes the Nationals better, gets them a great young catcher with control, and they can still resign Harper in the offseason if they want. Gives Oakland a huge bat. Gets Miami a lot of young talent for their rebuild.
  11. Trade deadline is this afternoon...give me your boldest predictions that aren't too far out of the realm of possibilities. Here is mine: 1. Trade Luis Ortiz, Corey Ray, and Trey Supak for Tigers OF Nick Castellanos He young, productive, and has control through 2019. Stearns makes this move because he sees the DH coming to the NL next year and can move Thames to a DH role. Tigers aren't contending next year so they are willing to part ways. 2. Trade Tristen Lutz, Maricio Dubon, and Cody Ponce for Mets RHP Zack Wheeler. Mets flinch and take the best offer on the table. They get a major league ready prospect in Dubon and add talent and depth to their terrible farm system. We get a quality arm this year and next year. Our 2019 lineup looks like this: Cain CF Yelich LF Aguilar 1B Shaw 3B Castellanos RF Thames DH Hiura 2B Pina/Nottingham C Arcia SS Starting rotation of... Nelson Anderson Wheeler Chacin Burnes What are your crazy bold moves?
  12. I know its early but Moose hasn't been very impressive so far. Yes, its only been three games but he has also had a pretty bad July. Hoping he picks it up a bit.
  13. I have heard people proposing the same thing but I can't see it happening. Moustakas is due $15 million next year and we would have no replacement for Shaw for next year. Plus, Shaw is still cheap and controllable.
  14. I think if something does happen, its going to be a surprise pick for someone we haven't been linked to very much.
  15. After Stearns acquired Moustakas it has been pretty quiet on the Brewers front. The talking heads are linking the Brewers to a SP but there really doesn't seem to be much traction there. Archer and Wheeler are high price tags and according to pundits, may not even be dealt. No news on the Gibson and Gausman fronts. The two moves Stearns has made have been off the radar moves - nobody had us linked to Soria and there were very few rumors about Moustakas. Is this just the calm before the storm or do we think Stearns actually stands pat and maybe thinks about moves in August? 7 hours and 25 minutes remain...
  16. Can the Nationals really expect to vet all of these offers from teams with less than 24 hours to go?
  17. If I know my Brewers, and I do...they likely will only get three more runners on base the rest of the game.
  18. At least we dont have to wait long to see what kind of outing we will get out of Peralta. It's usually pretty evident in his first inning.
  19. They are going to and it's real frustrating. At least the Dodgers aren't a great hitting team so its not like we need the runs
