  1. To be fair, Cain and I are the same age and this is how I look at all times. We're just...old.
  2. To be honest, Perez should never be allowed to play outfield. The whole Aguilar situation is tough because we have two guys limited to 1B only so we need a Perez that can play any infield position. I would much rather see Phillips or even Broxton take that 5th outfield spot but I don't think that will happen unless we see Aguilar shipped somewhere, and the way he is swinging the bat we can't get rid of him.
  3. What is going on with Yelich? Another move will have to be made when they activate him (assuming) tonight. Unless CC is just blowing smoke and he really isn't ready to return. 70 swings in the cage with no ill affects on Saturday seems like he should be good to go tonight. Doesn't seem like they have done a great job utilizing the 10-day DL to this point.
  4. So I saw that Hiura is out of the lineup for the third consecutive day. Has anything been said about why this is? I am guessing it has something to do with his elbow, which isn't a good sign...
  5. oh god they are going to walk Pina and Arcia is going to swing at some sh*t pitch like usual and tap it back to the pitcher...just you watch
  6. This K zone on ESPN is not doing a good job at showing actual strikes
  7. Hmm...I have Spectrum and don't get that channel. Must not have the right package :/
  8. hmm...I looked for the game on FS Wisconsin today (2/24 against the Angels) and the TV guide doesn't have it showing a game...
  9. That is not what I said at all. This has nothing to do with Cobb or Arrieta. Counsell already said him and Peralta are potential mid-season call-ups so I wonder if they would expedite that process if he had a lights out spring. That's all.
  10. I think Barnes or Albers will have the 8th inning role. I envision them using Hader like they did last year over multiple high leverage innings.
  11. I wonder if Stearns would even entertain the idea of starting Burnes in the big leagues at the start of the season. Obviously it was one inning but it was a great inning. I think he would have to be lights out the entire spring in order for him to even consider it.
  12. Do we think there is a possibility that Burnes could start the year in the rotation? Obviously he would have to be lights out in spring, but I wonder if that would even be an option for Stearns.
  13. Just wow. Read the MLBTR. 10 pitches in a batting practice session. You go your whole offseason and get going for the new year, that anticipation, and 10 on the side pitches end all hopes for 2018 and to start the season in '19. He was knocking on the door and with this he's not even on a ML pre-arb contract. I looked for his Draft profile. Wow. He went 72nd to the Rays. Nowhere will you find him mentioned as a top 100 predraft draft prospect. Whoever had the balls to convince to not only draft Honeywell, but do so overslot is Legend Scouting. One of his main offerings is a screwball and that places a lot of torque on the elbow. I don't want to say it was bound to happen but it was definitely more likely with that pitch.
  14. I would go as high as 2/49. His last couple years have regressed quite a bit (although he did have a hamstring issue last year I believe) but I just wanna keep that draft pick
  15. Someone around here mentioned in a post awhile back that a labrum injury the way he hurt it or that it was a different type of labrum injury that is different than if he hurt it while throwing. Hope that made sense and I wish I remember who posted it. I mean the fact that Jimmy is already throwing is an indicator that it might be healing and maybe not as bad as originally thought to be. I posted something like that in brewcrewball.com. I was a closer and played OF in college and I did the same thing Jimmy did. I dove for a ball and jammed by elbow into the ground and tore the front labrum. I had surgery mid-season and it revealed a torn RC as well. Rehab is long and slow but I was back to pitching the next year. Same velocity as before. Now, I was 20 years old, only throwing upper 80s consistently, and was not facing major league competition by any means, but it does speak to the ability to get back to where you were before. He has much better trainers and is probably working way harder to get back than I did so I have faith. It should be important to note that this is a bankart tear caused by an acute, trauma related incident. It is not a tear due to overuse where the labrum simply wears down. His velocity should be fine. It's a matter of building stamina, finding control, and trusting your mechanics or we can just listen to the orthopedic surgeon above

  17. I can't recall if MLB Pipeline does a mid-season update. Does anyone know? I believe they do...
  18. Just released: http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2018?list=mil 1. Hiura 2. Burnes 3. Woodruff 4. Erceg 5. Ortiz 6. Phillips 7. Ray 8. Grisham 9. Lutz 10. Peralta 11. Dubon 12. Diplan 13. Houser 14. Ponce 15. Feliciano 16. Carmona 17. Lemons 18. T. Williams 19. Gatewood 20. Medeiros 21. Harrison 22. Stokes 23. Supak 24. Lopez 25. Z. Brown 26. Rodriguez 27. Nottingham 28. Ward 29. Ernesto 30. Murphy
  19. CC said today that he anticipates going into the season with 13 pitchers and 12 position players. As of right now we have... 1. Yelich 2. Cain 3. Braun 4. Santana 5. Broxton 6. Phillips 7. Thames 8. Aguilar 9. Villar 10. Sogard 11. Arcia 12. Shaw 13. Perez 14. Pina 15. Vogt I think it is easy to see that Aguilar, Phillips, and Broxton won't make the active roster (also depends on if Santana's market picks up). Whether this is just using one of their minor league options, trades, or player release in the case of Aguilar remains to be seen.
  20. Depth was an issue last year for us. A look at the pitchers and number of games started: Davies - 33 Nelson - 29 Anderson - 25 Garza - 22 Suter - 14 Guerra - 14 Peralta - 8 Woodruff - 8 Milone - 3 Espino - 2 Wilkerson - 2 Blazek - 1 *Jeffress - 1 Just by removing 38 starts from Garza, Peralta, Milone, Espino, Wilkerson, and Blazek and giving those to Woodruff, Guerra, Suter, Gallardo, and even Miley would improve the rotation alone.
  21. Not sure I'd want him even if he did. Why not?
