I think we’re decidedly the better team. I think we should win by a margin in the two score range. But “should” has little to do with this season of NFL football, and the Packers are no exception.
I can’t remember who the opponent was, but one of my favorite quotes from Charles Woodson was something to the effect of “we just needed to make _______ play quarterback.” I think that’s what today boils down to: make Williams have to play quarterback and GB wins easily. If the Packers do that, it means they get out to a lead and/or keep the Bears ground game in check while staying disciplined in their rush lanes to keep Williams in the pocket.
The only way this game becomes a problem is if we allow Chicago to slog this thing out on the ground or we hand them a bunch of turnovers. But I’m not quite sure I trust this Packers team yet. I want to know they’ve matured past the point of their earlier issues (and the Philly game wasn’t that long ago). Today will be a good measuring stick. And next week will be even more revealing, especially if we win this one.
