  1. Welp the phillies lost. I wasnt really worried about either team catching the Brewers because if they did it probably means the Brewers weren't going to keep pace with the Cubs anyway. Phillies won't be eliminated by the time they start their series with the Nats so hopefully they grab a couple from them still.
  2. Ya i don't understand the start time either. Maybe the thought process is the Padres get 2 hours heading back to the west coast so they are starting 2 hours later than usual? idk.
  3. WC Roster SP: (2) Woodruff, Lyles (will depend on how it's lined up the days leading up to it and if 163 is needed but these are preferable) RP: (10) Hader, Pomeranz, Suter, Claudio, Guerra, Black, Peralta, Albers, Jackson, Houser C: (2) Grandal, Pina Inf: (6) Thames, Austin, Hiura, Arcia, Moustakas, Spangenberg OF: (5) Cain, Braun, Gamel, Grisham, Taylor I added Taylor for possible PR/defensive sub late in game Claudio/Albers/Jackson/Black are strictly match up guys for potentially 1 batter. I think the ideal lay out would be Woody 3 IP, Suter 2 IP, Guerra 1 IP, Pomeranz 1 IP, Hader 2 IP (not necessarily in this order)
  4. McCalvy had some notes on Suter yesterday. He has refined his mechanics a little bit. https://www.mlb.com/brewers/news/brent-suter-having-big-september-for-brewers
  5. No Machado in the line up for the Padres today. I'll take that.
  6. my first thought was some type of icey hot or something.
  7. Those are some big time outs for Jackson. Nice work by him. This is an important inning here for the offense. This reliever has some good K numbers, but some bad BB numbers. hopefully they can scratch out a couple here.
  8. Hopefully that's the end of Lamet tonight. 14 Ks. My goodness.
  9. Brewers are closing in on a tight window between Lamet and Yates.
  10. Castellanos stretched a single into a double. The throw beat him at second base by a wide margin, but the reds infielder made no attempt to tag him. Just had the glove resting in front of the bag and he slid around it. He then scored on a short sac fly and evaded the tag by inches. Baseball.
  11. Arcia has been the only one to square up Lamet so far. Baseball is weird.
  12. It does kind of make me wonder how good this team's advanced pro scouting is, because this isn't the first relatively young, inexperienced pitcher with middling numbers who has carved this lineup up this year. They seem to do much better against more familiar guys, but any guys with limited exposure seem to really get to them a lot. Perhaps it's just perception and not reality. do they even have advanced scouts anymore?
  13. The location was bad, but it still had good spin and break. If you rewind and watch the replay you can see the "dot" that's often talked about with a slider.
  14. So I'm glad Houser stayed in, but that 0-2 pitch could not have been worse.

  16. I guess it's a good thing Arcia is in there tonight. Houser wasn't exactly pounding the zone, but you might not have to against this line up.
  17. Good thing they kept Scherzer in to hit last inning.
  18. I know the Nats pen sucks, but allowing Scherzer to hit there in managerial malpractice.
  19. This Edman kid is a nice little ball player
  20. All of my inhibitions are gone. I'm vulnerable. I'm full go toward rooting for a division title. No more guarded optimism. It's there for the taking.
  21. same... trying to be productive this morning so i can slack off this afternoon and watch the cards/nats.
  22. Just bought a ticket for tonight's game. As an out of town fan I'm a big fan of the 6:40 weekday starts early/late in the season. Tons of field level infield tickets on stubhub for under $25. Really good chance to get great seats at a meaningful game for a reasonable price.
  23. A week or two ago I thought 87-88 wins probably gets a playoff spot. Now I kinda feel like 90 is the number to potentially just get a tie breaker game. The Brewers can get there, but it means they're going to need to sweep a couple of these series. I'm just assuming at this point that the Cubs, Cards, and Nats are going to sweep all of their 3 game series vs non-contenders. Seeing the lifelessness of some of these teams is both frustrating and leaving me optimistic.
