  1. Early hot take: Packer defense still soft
  2. Just like the Badger game yesterday, offense blows it and defense lays down the next drive. This shaping up to be a lousy football weekend.
  3. Of course Watson starts his career like that after his hands were probably his biggest red flag as a prospect. oof
  4. The Vikings new coach doesn't believe in playing starters in the preseason either FWIW
  5. It's hilarious, Soldier field delivers a bad field again. There are ponds and streams developing all over the field.
  6. Bears were penalized for illegal use of a towel, costing them a FG. It's now 10-7 after Fields pulled off a dynamic scrambling TD throw.
  7. I haven't followed it too closely but it went from on track to play on Tuesday to DNP and likely out and everyone not commenting on it on Friday. I guess I fear that dreaded setback word again, hopefully they are just being careful. Tonyan is in today.
  8. Yep, one of my favorite days of the year. Just tuned in to packer radio preview which means time to crack my first beer. Woohoo! GO PACK!!!! ??
  9. Badgers finished 7th in BCS rankings in 99 so its not like they had some great computer ranking, I must be remembering some other year. I think an early season loss to Northwestern cost them in the end a lot more than we thought it would at the time. Edit: I think it was that Gopher loss in 93 that cost us a natty?
  10. Ha, I can't remember all the details but I think there is an argument that Cincinatti loss cost the Badgers a national championship. And from memory it was one of those games like today, just looked it up 17-12 final. Today was a lot about shooting themselves in the foot rather than getting flat out beat, maybe it ends up being a springboard to a surprisingly strong season.
  11. It's not like I won't watch the rest of the year and a B10 title would still be cool, my comment is more about the structure of college football which is so much different than any team sport I follow. And to be fair it's not really over, we could win out and conceivably win the title. It just doesn't seem very likely now and I did hold out hope this team could improve fast and the schedule looked favorable.
  12. Yep, pretty much, I do actually dream about such things even if it seems like stretch in the current system or with the current team.
  13. We aren't fooling anyone on offense that's for sure and we don't have the talent to make up for it like we have some of his better seasons. As always in college football disappointing the season is over before it really begins.
  14. Our D laid right down and gave up a TD after theirs. What an awful game all around for the good guys.
  15. I think we are in big trouble already
  16. I wouldn't send the kicker back out after his first attempt. Go for it.
  17. Man oh man this is just one of those games the Badgers play where they do just enough to let teams hang around. It's like we are constantly on the cusp of putting them away and now we are behind.
  18. Mertz has really shown great accuracy on his downfield throws this year and on that last TD made the quick read on the blitz. Things still seem pretty hopeless when he has to scramble out of the pocket but it's not like we have a stacked group of receivers. He got better last year and looks like he is improving again. I know all the passes have been contested but would like to see MAllen actually make the great catch on those every now and then.
  19. And now after like 20 minutes off our defense looks gassed. Ugh, a 17 point favorite against a P5 school should have had me nervous.
  20. Have to get that ball snapped Mertz, even with the catch ruling the spot was pretty iffy
  21. Big pick to stop the WSU momentum. I don't know why I am even surprised since the NFL pulls this crap all the time but pretty annoying that they spend 5 minutes on Alabama/Texas postgame, anothe 5 minutes of commercials and then we miss the first 2 minutes of our game.
  22. I am so happy to have football back. It doesn't look good for Lazard or Bak to go tomorrow but I will bet Jenkins will play. Tough game to call, week 1 is whacky and once again we didn't play many starters in preseason. I am hopeful for the D and pulling out a low scoring game. I would take the under in this one.
  23. I have been meaning to reply to this as I wasn't happy about giving up Kelly but maybe I should wait a few days to cool down after this series for a grade. Oof.
  24. Gotta love MLB trade deadline LOL. Good we are getting the rental reliever back in the deal but guessing that also may mean Hader isn't being traded to clear salary room for a big acquisition, looks like Rogers makes 7.3 million ths year.
  25. The Brewers have reportedly been willing to listen to offers on Hader for it seems like 2 years now so not really news. I would be fine if they got a couple of nice prospects at this point, we can make other trades to make up for the loss for this season's race. I doubt his July struggles have affected his value much with his long track record and obviously it helps their payroll situation going forward to move him. It wouldn't shock me to see him traded but I am sure they still want an overpay.
