  1. So gold ticket holders would not get tickets to the London game? I guess that makes sense since if you wanted to go I doubt getting tickets is high on the decision process.
  2. I meant the extra game 17, not week, that is played against the AFC. It alternates between gold and green every 2 years when NFC is at home. Gold gets the game next season and doesn't get a preseason game which is a bonus. Seems sort of logical they would use that game.
  3. Let me guess it will be game 17 which the gold package is supposed to get. Part of me says the gold package always gets the shaft but I think I would make it an excuse to go as I have never been to London.
  4. Cap room has become this odd fan obsession the last several years, I blame Twitter. Nobody really has a firm grasp on it so it's the perfect thing to argue about after the season. Then it never really ends up mattering and teams always find some way to do what they need. I disengage from those discussions completely because I don't understand it and it is too boring to want to figure out. In the Packers case I feel like all the cap pants pissing has really just emerged because of the COVID year and the resulting unexpected drop in the cap. The Packers have been pretty steady In their spending and rarely get involved in an all in sort so spending spree on free agents. I remember a lot more whining about not going after the big names than worry about cap space until recently, I was one of those whiners. Teams don’t care that much because the cap has increased so rapidly with revenue that even teams who get burned only have to take their lumps for a year and are usually in a rebuild when they have to do it anyway.
  5. I was on the road that day so missed the game and caught up later but it is pretty clear what Howard said and it was hardly ignored in anything I saw other than omitting the last word which doesn’t change anything, what he said is actually a big part of the story. I am not really even sure what you are talking about here.
  6. I think I brought this up in the Love discussion in the preseason but I think the idea that Rodgers sucked his first 2 years is not in line with what the Packers thought of him, just the remembrance of us fans who saw little of him. I swear I read in one of the articles around the time of the MM split that it was clear to everyone in the organization right away how talented Rodgers was but couldn't find it. I just looked again and did find this from the Favre biography: Rodgers was Favre’s equal when it came to arm strength, and he was already, as a rookie, a far better decision maker. He read defenses like a 12-year veteran and stayed in the pocket without cowering. https://thelab.bleacherreport.com/gunslinger-brett-favre-aaron-rodgers-feud-jeff-pearlman-excerpt/ Of course it could be the same thing is going on with Love but Andrew Brandt was on Wis sports radio before the end of the Packer season and said in his opinion if the Packers felt like they hit on Love they would move on from Rodgers in the offseason and so far it sure doesn't seem like they want to. He said he was basing that on what he knows of the Packers front office and how they would value the Love pick.
  7. Reacher is entertaining enough, the perfect series to released before the holidays as it's the sort of action flick everyone enjoys. But it's pretty much just Roadhouse, and no one will ever do it better than Roadhouse. Peacemaker is easily the most entertaining show I have watched in the last year, and I watch way too much TV these days.
  8. Purdue only has 4 games left, none are gimmes, but I could definitely see a scenario where it doesn't matter if the Badgers go 4-0 or 3-1 in their other games, they still have to beat Purdue.
  9. Looking at the Badgers schedule you just feel like they will likely lose one of Mich, @Min, @Rutgers so it would come down to beating Purdue at home. But who knows, this team keeps surprising me.
  10. Not really surprising news but in case anyone missed this report that Denver is after Rodgers: https://www.si.com/nfl/broncos/news/nathaniel-hackett-aaron-rodgers-offseason-trade-push
  11. Yeah, I was thinking that once Rodgers is gone maybe the Packers should rethink their team building philosophy as what they are doing clearly isn't making Lambeau much of an asset in the playoffs. There is plenty of blame to go around but they got beat in the trenches each of the last 3 losses(one in SF). But your comment reminds me we were playing without our best olineman the last 2.
  12. Yes, Sharpe was on his way for sure, I think the problem for him is HOF voters don't really see WR like it does say Qb, RB, LT, Edge, and CB. Seems sort of weird they don't in todays NFL but Lofton and Monk had to wait a long time even though both held major NFL records when they retired. Carter had over 100 TD's and had to wait a few years but I think that was because a lot of guys didn't like him personally. I just took a scroll through the all time receivers, I don't see anyone in the HOF with a short career and numbers like Sterling. There are definitely a few guys in line before him.
  13. Holmy got 2 different teams to Super Bowls and really should have won that Seattle SB but got reffed. For sure by Vermeil standards he is in someday. Sharpe is a tougher sell, you sort of need longevity to get in as a WR so you can pile up some stats. I think Adams is a very comparable player but most would probably agree he needs to play at this high level at least 2-3 more years to get hall worthy and he has passed Sharpe in virtually all the stats already. A SB ring would go a long way for Adams chances though. Terrel Davis and now Boseli give Sharpe hope but they played different positions and Davis has the rings. I actually don't think Davis should be in.
  14. I read his comments and it makes me wonder but hard for me to believe he will retire, I have said it before he likes the attention too much. If he is burned out on the playoff exits like the rest of us he may just want some new scenery, I agree that doesn't seem like where this is headed right now but I will still be shocked if he retires. Denver is waiting for him so I am sure that is in his mind as he decides, I wouldn't write it off until we know. Very happy for Butler, those 90's teams haven't got much HOF love for various reasons but he deserves it.
  15. Harden to Sixers for Simmons+, that's a shakeup in the East
  16. Yes, in the end with a title in their pocket the Bucks are pretty much hitched to riding out the current big 3 and surrounding them with vets that change to fit needs. DDV was expendable and about to get more expensive so hard to argue with filling a need with Brook a question mark this season.
  17. I guess getting a couple of picks makes it a little better but sorry to see the one young asset they had go sorta cheap. I guess they need another big though and he must be better than Monroe
  18. Bucks trade DDV in 4 team deal that brings back Serge Ibaka
  19. Yes, I don't think my last 2 jobs ever contacted my references, for sure my last one didn't. Maybe it's just that I have a longer work history now and a lot of stuff is now verifiable in other ways but generally I would think you get a pretty good feel for a person and their skills from interviews and no one is going to provide a reference that would say anything bad about them. It's probably not a great tool to use in the hiring decision process anyway.
  20. Well, looking at the schedule for that last window that Panama game is a must win. US has the toughest schedule of the 5 teams still alive and any hope of backing in depends on Canada staying red hot and they may coast a bit now. One thing 2018 taught me is they will get no help at the end if they need it.
  21. Just came across these Rodgers odds, these aren't real odds you can get in Vegas just projected: 2022 Team Odds Green Bay Packers +200 Denver Broncos +200 Pittsburgh Steelers +550 Miami Dolphins +750 Las Vegas Raiders +1700 New Orleans Saints +1800 San Francisco 49ers +1800 Cleveland Browns +5000 Indianapolis Colts +6000 Philadelphia Eagles +6000 Carolina Panthers +7500 Tampa Bay Buccaneers +7500 Houston Texans +7500 Read more at: https://www.miamiherald.com/betting/nfl/article258019093.html#storylink=cpy
  22. I had read about it but didn't realize it until becoming unemployed again, there has been a shift from employees being made to feel like they are lucky to have a job to employers being lucky to have employees. I can't say this exist in all professions but it is definitely happening in the service sector as well as IT. In my view this is a good side effect of COVID.
  23. I hadn't realized it until you posted this but yes Indeed seems much easier to apply than the last time I tested the market a few years ago. It's so annoying to spend 15 minutes on a detailed application before you even know if there will be interest in you. Now like you say every morning I have a bunch of emails from employers and I can quickly submit my resume/contact info if I am interested. Yesterday I applied for a job through a local online newspaper and am now apparently on ziprecruiter as well, I get emails from there too but not sure yet how good it is yet.
  24. Vikes hire Kevin O’Connell as head coach. Harbough decided to stay at Michigan but reportedly did not have offer from Vikes, not sure which came first.
  25. I quit my job of 10 years at the end of December. I just realized the job stress was making me unhappy and affecting me even in my time off and finally pulled the plug on it. I am in IT and the job market is amazing right now, it's unbelievable the difference remote work has had on the number of opportunities that are out there when you used to be largely bound to your local area. I am taking my time and looking for something that I know I will be happy in rather than focused on pay, I guess part of getting older for me is realizing money isn't everything.
