  1. Yes, disappointing, we keep waiting for our sleeping giant team to wake up for decades and freaking Canada passes us. I was hoping to clinch quickly so we could throw that Panama game in the next window to screw over Costa Rica.
  2. If I remember right this would be the Chiefs 4th straight Sb if not for a neutral zone infraction late against the Patriots. But maybe Burrow has some magic, Chiefs were up big early in last meeting too.
  3. I saw what you did that trades start on 4PM of the new NFL year but also saw that Stafford was traded on Jan 30 last year so it appears LouisEly is correct. I think it just can't be submitted until the new year as is what happened with Stafford. I found this from the link below, looks like you have 8 hours after the start of the new year to submit transactions which is how the Packers would get the trade in before the cap deadline: March 16: The 2022 League Year and Free Agency period begins at 4:00 p.m., New York time. Clubs will receive a Personnel Notice that will include all transactions submitted to the League office during the period between 4:00 p.m., New York time, and 11:59:59 p.m., New York time, on March 16. The trading period for 2022 begins at 4:00 p.m., New York time, after the expiration of all 2021 contracts. https://www.si.com/nfl/giants/news/2022-key-nfl-off-season-dates-announced#:~:text=Clubs%20will%20receive%20a%20Personnel,expiration%20of%20all%202021%20contracts.
  4. I am not sure but I don't think they need the space the day they tag him, only at the same time they need to be under for everything else so a Rodgers trade could be arranged and then completed the first day of league year to get them under? Seems odd that they would put teams in a weird timing bind like you are saying.
  5. Yeah I think it is time to move on but I did last offseason as well. I also said it just felt like we were never going to break through with him again and here we are in the same place. If the team wants him back as bad as they say it says a lot about what they think of Love. I don't see how Rodgers stays just one year though, I guess they could push some money into a voidable year or something but if I am the Packers I want a commitment to finish his career there or I would trade him.
  6. Looks like it is on Paramount so I can watch it, I knew I had that for more than Star Trek. Overlaps with the AFC game but I will sort of watch both. I am not sure where US soccer interest is, when I lived in South Florida it was always a big deal, an Irish Bar I frequented was often packed on Sunday mornings. Back in Wisconsin I was surprised how much interest there was the last time the US was in the World Cup, a lot of people like me who just get interested once every 4 years. I would probably have some interest in MLS if Milwaukee had a team but knowing it is still pretty much a minor league probably keeps even dedicated US fans following the Premier League instead.
  7. So..this all adds up to Brady and Harbaugh to Vikes?
  8. Man, you aren't kidding. If nothing else it gives something to talk about to get our minds off another postseason failure. It's sort of like the Lucroy trade talk during a down season for the Brewers.
  9. I'm pretty certain thats not how it will work, especially once Rodgers signs a new contract. Teams aren't going to send multiple 1st round picks for a qb on a 1 yr deal and then have him be a free agent for 2023. And even if Rodgers stays in GB, it will be under a new contract. His 2022 cap number is an incentive to deal Rodgers if he wants to move on - but if he wants to stay its just as big an incentive to hammer out a new contract and lower his 2022 cap number themselves. If the trading team needs cap room in 22 yes they will rework it to move money to future years but they are not going to just tear up a 1 year 26 million dollar deal. The extension dollars will really cover future years no matter how they move the money around. I could be wrong here but it seems like bad fiscal policy to essentially tear up his deal and start over at 46 million a year or whatever if that is what you are saying. That applies if he stays as well. edit: just checked and Denver has a projected 48 million in cap space in 22, if it is them I would expect them to let him play at the 26 million in 22 and give him an extension that starts in 23.
  10. The team that trades for him will also get the 22 season at a very reasonable $26 million. So the Packers should expect some compensation just for the fact that they are essentially picking up part of the money on that year,
  11. I tend to agree with you on his value being a little overstated, you never know if there is a bidding war but Rodgers will probably play the retirement card to try to influence where he goes. 2 first and then a couple of mid rounders sounds about right. If it Denver’s #9 maybe less since that is a high value pick. Adams has about mid 1st rounder value since he is getting older and very expensive so about the same value as Jeudy. I guess Jared Allen got 2 firsts in a tag and trade but he was younger.
  12. Rodgers for Wilson?
  13. Rodgers would bringing his own top WR with him and I would guess could lobby Denver to sign MVS as well. I doubt it too but trying to find something fair that would be best fit for Packers rather than just picks.
  14. If we are including an Adams tag and trade with Rodgers to Denver I would like to see Jeudy coming back as part of it. We can't leave Love with nothing or he will fail before he really gets a chance. I am sure they want to keep him but if there is a bidding war they are an all in sort of franchise who I think would do whatever it takes. Their first, Jeudy, another 4th this year and their first next year for Rodgers and Adams?
  15. Canada is ranked 40th in the world(US#11), has yet to lose in this round, has now won 5 straight, and is already done with Mexico. I really know nothing about their team or how they matchup, really this is about the time every 4 years when I am just getting familiar with the US team again, but it seems like they are playing over their heads a bit and already got their big win over Mexico last window. All of that makes me think they are ripe to get taken down on Sunday.
  16. Nice to see Carlson finally getting more minutes and producing, I was starting to think he was a bust but him and Crowl give hope that there is still some upside coming to this years team.
  17. They said in the broadcast last night that 10 points in their last 6(now 7 in 5) would qualify them, I think that is a guess rather than math. They should have scored more like 3 goals last night and El Salvador never really threatened but closer than it should have been. I think if they win the next 2 and Panama loses its next 2 they can qualify this window but not too likely.
  18. These things sort of sneak up on me and I miss them so thought I would post for anyone else who maybe wasn't aware, MNT back in qualifying action tonight at 6 against El Salvador.
  19. They would have never paid Cobb that other than to please Rodgers so not sure that is a good comparison. For a team with a lot of cap space sure maybe you don't mind bringing him back at that but with all the other free agents the packers have I think they will take their chances with the lowest tender. I guess we will see and of course none of this debate matters until we find out what Rodgers does. Lazard just doesn't strike me as the type of guy another team is going to throw a big contract at hoping for improvement like say MVS. I also don't think teams bother other teams ERFA's unless they really want them as you sort of have to overpay or at least structure in a way that won't be matched.
  20. I would be shocked if they put a second round tender on Lazard. He doesn't have great hands, isn't fast, and had 40 catches in 15 games with quite a few snaps. We didn't sign OBJ so we could make sure we saved $3.384 million in cap room to bring Lazard back next season? Lazard will never be more than what he is in my opinion so I don't see teams lining up to outbid us.
  21. Though this is typically true, the Packers have a bit of a mess to work through. About $51 million over right now vs. where they need to be on league day 1, then they still have to tender their ERFAs and Lazard, which will move them to close to $62m over, without signing anyone to replace those that leave or are UFAs, or their draft class. Russ Ball is a wizard and likely has a bunch of stuff already in the works that will deal with lots of this, but he's going to earn every dime of his paycheck this off season. We are going to spend $11 million on Lazard and the rest of the ERFA's? I would rather replace Lazard with a draft pick to be honest if he costs anything more than maybe $2 million. Your numbers always seem higher than the 2 websites that are out there, what source do you use?
  22. They had someone on sports radio talking about this last week, it may have been Andrew Brandt, who said the Packers value their 1st round picks and if they believe Love can be the future they will move on from Rodgers now. If the Packers are working to keep Rodgers that may tell us all we need to know about Love and I would say a 4th rounder may be it.
  23. Well good night, I will as is my custom avoid any media coverage for the next couple of days and not watch tomorrow's games. Looks like an Ozark binge for tomorrow.
  24. I may be confusing you with someone else but I think that is what you and I said in the in offseason, trade Rodgers because we just aren't going to win another with him after that sour taste last year. I feel the same way, just been let down so many times I expected it.
  25. It's an organizational problem, always too much loyalty to the staff they never fix things because they don't admit they exist until it's too late. Glass jaw in playoffs, been fun Aaron but I hope you bring us a bunch of picks.
