  1. Cautiously optimistic doesn't seem the same as "no concerns". I of course hope you are right but I agree with CheezWizHed, this definitely is a somthinburger. The oline in general is a concern for me this season and Bak is at the top of the list there, as always I came around on the draft picks but would have liked an olineman closer to the top.
  2. I am fine with taking Stanford or Cal over Oregon but I think they stop at 4 PAC teams. USC/UCLA is a game changer as it means the Big Ten wants a national footprint to counter the SEC and I sort of think blue chips weigh heavier than markets right now. If you look at the remaining non SEC/B1G teams out there I would rank the football powers like this: 1. ND 2. Clemson 3a: Miami 3b: FSU 5. Oregon 6. Washington 7. Stanford 8 Utah? Colorado? It's getting thin so I will stop there. Clemson/FSU I expect are SEC bound and aren't really Big Ten material when there are better choices. South Florida however isn't really SEC territory and like ND the Canes consider themselves a national program. While they may not have been enthused about joining a midwest conference before now they would probably jump at the chance with USC and potentially ND in the mix. It sure will be interesting to see where this goes. I do hope the goal of a big conference is 2 divisions rather than just throwing everyone together and having the top two teams go to the BTC. That sounds like an unbalanced schedule nightmare.
  3. I think 20 is the number to get to if they add any more, if ND really did come in they could add the above schools and then one more east coast team and have 10/10 division split right along the central/east time zone line. It isn't talked about as much as schools like NC/UV but I think Miami makes a ton of sense for the 20th, it would make ND happy and Miami would benefit bringing all those well travelling midwest fans to fill up their big stadium. TV market is an obvious huge plus for the BIG. It would really stick it to the now more regionally bound SEC too.
  4. Yes, this feels like the battle for the East just like the Nets was and also seems destined to go 7, if I was a gambler I would put big money on Celtics to win outright Monday. Golden opportunity for the Bucks though. Holy cow that last 4 seconds seemed like an eternity, can't believe they didn't score with 3 chances. It took me an hour to wind down. The refs got the call right on that last foul, Jrue was hacking him before his feet even hit the floor.
  5. Yes, I would be beyond stunned if either Burnes or Hader signed extensions with the Brewers, those guys are superstars and will find their way to the big markets for way more than the Brewers will spend. Woodruff seems like a guy they could get but I agree with the OP that maybe they need to sacrifice some pitching to balance out the roster for the playoffs, having 6-7 starters doesn't help so much then. Would rather trade Houser or Lauer though as I am a big Woodruff fan, we waited so long to develop a top starter in the org and he was the first in a while.
  6. I was thinking midseason who would replace Davis and Davison in starting lineup next year and thought Bowman and Carlson were most likely. But here we are now with a pack of available schollies too late in the recruiting cycle. I guess grad transfers may be a way of life now.
  7. I was just going to post the same thing, Boston plays at locked in Memphis and could fall to 4 if sixers win and would have to play Toronto rather than the Bulls. They would also get home field against the Bucks in a potential round 2 matchup with a win but then are likely facing the Nets round one.
  8. It sure looks like things are headed for a 1st round matchup with the Nets barring a play in upset. It's just what the NBA wanted I am sure.
  9. I may be in the minority but I think OL is a big priority and if things fall our way would like to se 2 drafted in first 4 picks along with a DL. There is obviously some others to blame for the playoff losses the last 3 years but we got dominated in the trenches all 3 games. Bak is a question mark, Jenkins too, I like the progress the young OL guys made last year but I think it's time to beef up the talent on the lines for Rodgers last years. Throw in a WR and address other needs down further in the draft.
  10. We didn't have to sweat out that one too long, fun win and a Pulisic hat trick. That should do it, would still love a win in San Jose.
  11. No help from El Salvador and Canada now in great shape to lay down in the last game in Panama to burn us. Have to get it done tonight.
  12. A draw tomorrow would clinch at least a play in with New Zealand but a loss would be devastating. No pressure...
  13. Crazy how tight the top 4 in the East are this late in the season, 1 game from 1st to 4th. Does everyone still want to try to avoid Brooklyn in 1st round? It would be nice for the Champs to make a late surge and take that #1 spot.
  14. Yeah a shooting slump was always going to be their downfall you just hoped they would get hot for the tourney. Disappointing to lose as it appears they likely will but they were just a too thin to suffer any injuries and have foul trouble to boot.
  15. I hope you guys are right, last night was the first time I saw them it looked like they had at least one good shooter. Really hoping to get to Kansas in the elite 8, they have somehow avoided playing the Badgers for like 50 years.
  16. I think the Adams trade is the best case scenario in the Rodgers/Adams offseason question. Like most others I assumed they either both stay or both leave so never really considered it. I have been pretty firmly in the cap issues are overrated camp but giving them both the huge contracts would limit just how "all in" we can go to get another ring before Rodgers retires. Now we get an infusion of young talent from the picks and more cap flexibility now and down the road. I don't think it's a given that Rodgers will only play a couple of more years. Yeah it hurts to lose him but Rodgers can carry the passing game and we can continue to work on building the D and running game we need to get us over the top. I am just thrilled we got 2 good picks for Adams, I would have thought pick #22 would be about it. Can't wait for the draft. I also like the idea of bringing MVS back, he has developed into a good #2 and you just hope the injury plagued year was on outlier and will hopefully keep his price down.
  17. Falling to a 5 would be crazy but that Nebby loss really put a dent in their squeaky clean resume. I am sort of expecting a 4 but crazy to think that one loss may have amounted to a drop from a 2 to a 4.
  18. Yeah they had 3-4 go halfway down and come out down the stretch when they just needed one bucket. And Crowl inexcusably misses a wide open layup. oof, oh well still champs Edit: I am going to look at it as we were due to lose a tight one down the stretch and this was the game to do it. Plus it's possible this could put the Gopher in last place.
  19. Rappoport also reporting that Rodgers is torn on where he wants to play and on the clip I just watched he didn't mention the Florio report as the source, so at least that side of this report could have legs.
  20. Ha, well the longer this drags on the more of this we are likely to see. I am starting to wonder if playing for another team is more on the table than we believed, I mean if he is going to come back to GB what's the holdup? Maybe they want to get an Adams deal in place before announcing anything.
  21. I see some reports out there this morning that Rodgers is still deciding where he wants to play and Broncos, Steelers, and Titans have trade deals in place if he decides to play for one of them. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/03/04/aaron-rodgers-has-specific-destinations-in-place-if-he-chooses-to-leave-the-packers/
  22. Rappaport reporting Packers in good place with Rodgers. I am guessing we get some official announcement in the next day or so, it's getting kind of annoying. https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/bears/packers-aaron-rodgers-very-good-place-negotiations
  23. The Horizon has lost a lot of teams over the years notably Xavier, Butler, Loyola and Valpo since GB and MILW joined. I see UIC is leaving for the MVC now as well. I had to look to see who is in now and without looking I could have probably only named Wright St, Cleveland St, and Detroit. So it's tough to build in a declining conference when they also have the problem of having 2 popular in state power 6 programs to further drive them into irrelevance. I am not sure what the answer is for them, get some good JC and other transfers and hope to have some good seasons to get in line for the next round of conference expansions I guess. The Jeter firing was stupid.
  24. Holy crap when Davison missed that FT and Ivey went down and nailed the 3 I was like NOOOOO!!!! but before I finished Chucky banked it in and was YESSS!!! Crazy how fast it all happened what a finish.
  25. I am thinking tonight's game will be for a #2 seed. If Wisconsin wins they will likely win the title outright and despite their NET ranking the committee won't ignore that with the rest of their resume. If Purdue wins they likely get a share and have been ranked highly all year so they get a 2 for sure. Still have the Big ten tourney but that's only 1 loss at most for anyone, if anything that is just an opportunity for the loser tonight to move up. I am not sure if a #1 seed is still an option for Badgers but if they won out it would be interesting. Crazy to be even talking about it.
