  1. That's kind of the way I feel about Metallica. It probably started with the more commercial sound of the black album, and while I can't really remember specifics other than the Napster thing I feel like they came off as a bunch of dicks later in their career. But they had a great run with the Lighting/Master/Justice trilogy.
  2. It's not really fair to the incoming freshmen not to mention the sophs and juniors who have been waiting their turn to give another year to the seniors. Only so many minutes available, I do feel bad for Pritzl though.
  3. I had "Beneath the Remains" but never got into any other Sepultura after that, this isn't the first time I have heard people sing their praises, I need to listen to more of their stuff. I was sort of moving on from speed/thrash metal in the early 90's but was lucky to have a friend who loved Pantera and took me to a show at The Mirage in Minneapolis. What an incredible live band. For sure "Mouth for War" would be somewhere in my 6-10 list. And I don't know how the hell I missed out on Slipknot until just a few years ago, they are right in my wheelhouse.
  4. Well spectator sports are dead until further notice so thought we could do some list topics. Lately I have been into late 70's early 80's British metal, a lot of really great stuff like Diamondhead, Holocaust, and Saxon that I didn't get into at the time. Here are my top 5 metal songs: 1. "Neon Knights" Black Sabbath - Hard to not pick an Ozzy Sabbath song for this list, so many good ones but none really stand out above the others. It was fitting that Sabbath sort of paved the way for the metal resurgence of the early 80's with their Dio records. This song sort of captures the best of Sabbath and Dio, just a straight ahead metal rocker that no one in metal has ever topped IMO. 2. "Metal Gods" Judas Priest - British Steel was one of my earliest metal albums and I wouldn't have picked this song as even one of the top songs on the album at the time. But it pretty much defines head banging metal, a great bass line with Rob Halfords snarling vocals, simple yet heavy metal perfection. 3. "Lights Out" UFO - I never get sick of this song and it is some very early speed metal. Great guitar work by Michael Schenker, an incredibly underrated band. 4. "Hallowed Be Thy Name" Iron Maiden - This was the blueprint long prog metal song that Metallica later mastered. Maybe I just burned out on Metallica, I thought they were the greatest thing ever for a while in the late 80's, but now feel like Maiden was just better. Still regretting missing them in St Paul last year, don't miss these guys if you get a chance. 5. "Angel of Death" Slayer - I need an American band here and as great as Metallica is I feel like they were more descendants of the early 80's British stuff. Slayer OTOH had their roots in hardcore punk and just feels like they created their own sound more than Metallica. This was their best, still knocks my socks off after all these years.
  5. My company is pretty much built to work from home, we even ran a pandemic test just a couple of years ago yet the owners have not even sent an email on it yet. There are still people out there who just won't believe it is really a problem for Wisconsin until it really arrives I guess and I know my owners are that type. Amazing how the conversation changed yesterday once the sports leagues shut down.
  6. Just looking at it from a program perspective it may not be a bad idea for Wahl to redshirt next season . Pritzl leaving will free up some minutes but I would expect at least 2 of Johnny Davis, Carlson, and Bowman to push for rotation spots. It's not like the Badgers to go with a 10-11 man rotation. I do think he has a bright future but he could get buried under all those senior minutes next year.
  7. I am really happy for Gard, that's 3 times now he has rebounded when his seat was perceived to be getting warm by a lot of us fans. His 1st year when it looked like the Badgers may look elsewhere in the offseason he surprised us all by getting them to the Sweet 16. After the Hauser debacle he landed one of their best classes in years. And now when things looked so bleak after King left he wins a Big Ten title. As a fan who did question him at all 3 of those low points I am hopeful I have learned my lesson. The guy can coach and he can recruit, now he just needs to break through a little further in the tourney.
  8. I don't know if it is what you guys are advocating but having tiebreakers applied for a regular season champion doesn't really make much sense. If we had complete home/away schedules maybe it could work but even then you have 3 way tie issues. We have a big ten tourney and then NCAA to sort stuff out, let the players and those of us who do care about it have their fun.
  9. For anyone who watched it that has to be it.
  10. That dreaded Trice floater bouncing in was just as big. That possession looked doomed.
  11. Yeah I don't know that they have much more of a ceiling than that but would be nice to get off the 5 seed. 8 in a row down the stretch has to mean something.
  12. To be fair they only lost like 4 seconds. Either way it pretty much comes down to Davison making his free throws or not as to whether they have a shot. And for a second I thought they got a turnover
  13. Whew! really sweating out those Davison FT's but he was money. Wow! Big Ten Champs!
  14. Badgers making dumb turnovers while Indiana playing pretty clean ball, this isn't shaping up like a win.
  15. It isn't really surprising, though. He's at the age where the Packers typically let free agent OL walk. That practice has pretty much always been a good plan, too. When was the last time the Packers gave an O-lineman a 3rd contract? Clifton maybe? I was trying to think of non QB/Crosby's who they gave the 3rd contract to and Clifton came to mind, not sure if it was his third but it was a disaster, I think he just played a couple of games. Others were Jordy who tore his knee up 10 minutes later and Woodson(not the Packers 3rd contract but a big late career deal) who was also released after an injury plagued season. So I can see why they stay away from them. Sorry to hear they aren't even talking to Bulaga but some tackle needy team will outbid anything they will offer I am sure, only hope is Bulaga just wants to stay.
  16. 03 lived in Minneapolis and watched the Freddy Owens game at a friends house. We were all so excited we bought sweet 16 tickets at the Metrodump and Marquette was there as well. Somehow ended up with Uecker seats, never forget the Wilkinson travel late and watching Penney run off the floor for the last time a couple of minutes later, Penney was one of my all time favorites just for destroying the Gophers all by himself one game. What a let down. Did get to see Marquette cut down the nets a couple of days later, I liked them a lot better back then. They have made the tourney so many times it's all sort of a blur now. Koenig's buzzer beater against Xavier and Bill Murray was one of the best. The final four win over Kentucky was probably the all time program high point, man was I drunk. Getting beat by Curry when I wanted a shot at Kansas was pretty high on my disappointment list, we always got killed by 3 point shooting mid majors it seemed.
  17. Or, stop the other team from making 3s and you win? That's where things can get complicated. Gard's stop the 3 don't worry about 2's defense especially with a lead late in games has been interesting. Have to make your free throws though. Sort of the opposite of what the Bucks do.
  18. Kind of surprised Cephus ran that slow a 40, he seemed quick enough in games for the NFL. I think he made the right choice entering the draft, he isn't going to improve his stock much and delaying entry is also delaying potential free agency down the road not to mention a year of NFL pay. His hands are great from what I have seen, actually a strength not a weakness. As I think others have said I hope the Packers grab him if he does drop to the 5th round. For Taylor it's just simply that teams don't value RB's much, you have to be really special to go high in the draft. 20 years ago he would have gone top 10.
  19. 4 in a row, it seems they have moved themselves off the bubble and are now moving up the brackets. I know the schedule has been favorable but after the King saga and the Iowa and Minnesota debacles Gard has done a great job getting things pointed in the right direction. A nice tourney run would be great for a team that has so many seniors next year, Pritzl looks like he will be a bigger loss than we thought but it still could be a special year next season. Still lacking an all conference caliber star though, I thought Reuvers may be that guy but he still seems up and down.
  20. Big shot by Potter at end of half, hopefully took the fight out of Rutgers. He has really helped this team on offense.
  21. I just assume Giannis will leave, my cynical take is there is no way an NBA star on his level stays in a city like Milwaukee. Someone will get his ear and the powers that be want him in a big market. That way I will be pleasantly surprised if he stays but will not be crushed if he leaves. You have to set expectations.
  22. I think we have tried that with a some of our OLB's over the years, most recently a guy from Illinois whose name escapes me. I don't know why we are so jinxed at that position, part of it is near misses in the draft, Bush, Shazier, etc. But if you want those guys go get them. I don't know what to think of Fackrell in FA, he is an older guy and most people think his double digit sack year was just lucky. I would like to see him back but only at a low price, maybe a $2-3 mil one year deal.
  23. I feel like Houser is probably where Peralta and Burnes were in spring training last year, he will have to really blow up in ST to not earn a rotation spot. He was a good prospect in his own right and obviously had a nice season last year. Actually to borrow from the OP he is probably more like Woodruff last year in that a lot people seem to think he would be better in the bullpen but the team has continued to develop him as a starter. Burnes probably has the most talent of the bunch but it's hard to forget last year. Still really excited about these young pitchers, hopefully just a bump in the road last season. Frosty Boys LMAO
  24. If just shooting them from helicopters was a solution to the problem I would think the state would be better served by just hiring professionals to do it, those guys are part of the economy too and it couldn't be much of a dent in the budget of a state the size of Texas. By trying to do it by creating these businesses seems less efficient and probably won't get it done. The have tried programs with bounties for coyotes I think in the south too and it just results in more pups surviving to adulthood.
  25. The Home Run Inn is what prompted my complaint about no cardboard trays in the bugging you thread but I have to admit it was a pretty tasty frozen pizza, I don't like a lot of sauce and it seemed just right in that regard. It also gave me a stomachache a few hours later and it happened with both the sausage and the pepperoni so that takes it way off my best list. Also, I didn't really care for Lotza Mottza but after hearing about the Taco Grande here I got one and threw some romaine, sour cream, and taco sauce on it and it was awesome.
